This is a great and fun RTS, I really enjoy the game. That's really all I can say about the mechanics, if you are one to enjoy RTS games then Northgard is an experience worth trying at least once.

However, I do wish steam has a wider spectrum of reviewing options, because like many, I have an issue with the amount of clans being locked behind paywalls.

Now, I don't actually have an issue with this monetisation system, but its just gonna look increasingly ridiculous and stupid for them to keep releasing paid clans without some kind of one-time, mode specific, or scenario specific mode where you're allowed to try a clan out, so you can personally decide if it's going to be a clan thats worth your money and time.

Thats all, love the game and base game is very fun and worth it, enough so that despite my issues I'll still give it a positive.

This once very special game has a place close to my heart. I've been playing this game since launch and have experienced wonderful years growing up alongside it. I have made many friends who have changed my life and have had a lot of fun sessions that often lasted up to 6-7 hours. Today it's hard to settle on how I feel about the game. It's.. not good. It's not bad either, the foundations its built on and formula it has is certainly addictive and enjoyable.

If you could travel in time to 2015 I would absolutely recommend this game to you. The first and second years of R6 were the best seasons the game had, including the infamous Operation Health. Year 3 was great too(minus Clash)! But after year 4 things felt stale. The newer maps and agents FEELS like they should belong in siege, but they just.. dont. They hit the core gameplay elements but ends up feeling like if a robot had been tasked with designing them. They're formulaic, and designed around an increasingly complex and frustrating meta, which has killed any ability for devs to get creative.

A lot of things feel that way too, from UI design to small things like operator bans in ranked, to powercreeping from certain operators. Sound in the game is also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrid. It's incredibly difficult to accurately pinpoint footsteps(which is quite crucial) unless you're super familiar with the jankyness of the game's sound. Vertically? It's pretty much impossible to tell where someone is and I've got great headphones too(Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, but also tested a Sennheiser Game One and similar results.)

Siege has become just another bogstandard FPS game in an industry that's already saturated with shooters and lootboxes.
