Cynical alternate reality by a murderous regime bent on destruction of a neighbor that never did it harm.

Really enjoying this game, studio engagement, content additions, and most of the community.

Also, lazy, review-bombing neckbeards need to fix their reviews.

Early Access Review
First and foremost, you have to be willing to accept that this game will never leave early access.

That said, eight years after it appeared on Steam, this game is still getting updates both content and bug fixing. It is truly a very long term passion project.

It will probably never have the polish of a triple A game, but it plays well, and I've restarted countless times - meaning the replay-ability is high.

Mod support is great, community participation and mods are seemingly infinite allowing play styles to range from super casual builder-centric, to insane difficulty where every blood moon will destroy your base and kill you.

Enjoyed this game. Found the story to be original and engaging. Could use some polishing though, as seams where the story changed during development are evident. Also, for fun, see if you can detect the one line wherein Mia switches her voice acting accent to UK English.

The first time through on normal difficulty I spent about 100 game days, as I was very cautious and planned extensively. I thoroughly enjoyed the survival complexities and sense of adventure the game has to offer.

As for survival (open world) mode, aside from achievement completion, there's not really much to do once the mechanics of rest, food, and first-aid are mastered. Most of the crafting recipes and bits amount to little more than fluff.

Replay value in story mode, not so much, as I learned the following:

Spoiler hidden:
Each of the four times I used the Ayahuasca per the storyline, my stats and condition were restored to full upon completing each of the visions. This meant I could speed-run the story with no more than a couple of naps just by heading straight for those four story points, deviating only to grab necessary supplies, and not worrying about random maladies. With this knowledge in hand, It took perhaps a couple of hours to complete the game in Green Hell mode.

Feedback I would offer developers:
1. Remove the complete heals referenced in the spoiler, as it is rather game-breaking in the sense that challenge is near completely mitigated on all difficulty levels.
2. Natives know their land intimately, and would spot the signs and easily corner an outsider very quickly. That said, I found the ease with which I could entirely avoid hostiles a bit disappointing.
