Dead by Daylight could be one of the best games of its own unique genre, and could be a defining point for 1v4 games like this. Games like Friday the 13th, the Evil Dead game, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and even Killer Klowns from Outer Space all try and mimic the fun and jubilation that can come from a game like Dead by Daylight. Playing survivor can be so creatively rewarding and exciting, and killer, (if survivor game play wasn't so fundamentally flawed) could potentially be the most rewarding and satisfying gaming experiences you could have in a game. But it isn't. Because after 9+ years in development, this game cannot provide consistent enough balance for the output of content it produces. The community is always ferociously angry because the game itself lends to frustration a lot of the time, and the game does not attempt to provide any solace or positive feedback for losing ever. If you get slugged as survivor, or you get looped back to back from multiple survivors and then t-bagged at the exit gates, you're going to be berated by every aspect of the game near the later stages. Early on however, it is generally a more tolerable experience because a lot of the aspects of the game that become optimized and become obvious glaring issues are softened by just being new to everything. I think the game, after a serious overhaul in direction and game mechanics, could be really fun. However, the likelihood of some big fundamental change like this as far into DBD's lifespan as we are, is very unlikely. Maybe one day this game can finally focus and figure out what it wants, but it will slowly devolve into a freight train of dissapointment only kept held by crossovers and new content.

the pros:
* pretty fun, decently in-depth puzzle fighter, if you like puyo/tetris/puzzle fighter/etc. you'll like this
* easy to pick up
* lots of room for improvement
* based as ♥♥♥♥
* the dev is very nice and is a hard worker and doing kind things like adding online features
* sprites and music are very good and fit its aesthetic very well
* plenty of content, like a story mode and a puzzle mode with lots of levels

the cons:
* relatively hard to master / wrap your head around chains and getting good (i might just suck though)
* unfortunately not a lot of tools to help you improve past the basics, will have to learn how to set up chains on your own

UPDATE:
yeah. still sucks.

UPDATE 2:
I joined a community server recently. I think I was willing to give the game another shot ever since I went to that PC Repair Store trying to get this game to work for 6 years, and eventually the guy figured out you can connect a controller to this game, which is the only method I had to play. There I joined a server. It was just called 'FNAF'. Only two slots were available, and someone had already filled it. As I joined, I slowly looked around, the sticks on my extremely dirty, defiled white Xbox 360 controller from years of rubbing it in mud piles in anger after my team lost in a Call of Duty match. I loaded in, chose red team as it was the only option available and picked the scout class. I was then spawned in a recreation of the Five Nights at Freddy's security office area, seemingly lit by an interpretation of what yellow fluorescent bulb lights would look like in a room like this. I was only able to express a few moments of sentience before the other player in the game immediately flew to my face, seemingly perfectly tracking where the middle of my screen was. It was a pyro with no cosmetics named 'inferno', who I could only assume at the time to be a moderator. The person typed in the chat box, and I squinted my low light laptop monitor to see this :

- "yo"

I couldn't respond back, none of my inputs on keyboard or mouse were registering, the right stick of my controller having to crack hardened pieces of mud flakes from the inside to even respond. The controller had such little tactile response, yet the only option I had was to nod. I made a pathetic, and slow up and down motion to this person, nodding at them to try and show I had some sentience.

- "u know u can type if youre free to play"

I don't know why I was put on the spot like this. It pissed me off. I couldn't type in the first place and this person assumes I wouldn't have tried? Seriously? I was so angry. I was furious. I wanted them gone from my sight, as they were still sticking in the middle of my screen. I shot my shotgun at them. They died instantly. The moment I did however, a chat message came up saying 'inferno' was banned from the server. Did I do that? I tried to quit, but the 'A' button on my Xbox 360 controller started to not register my inputs. I could only get to the pause screen, where I saw something peculiar. This inferno character seemed to have appeared on my friends list. I checked my phone. They're on my friends list. I never friended them. I try to unfriend them, but the option does not appear. On their profile, they have no games. Not even Team Fortress 2. I'm frantically trying to figure out what just happened, if that's a common occurrence. But then I see a player fly again towards my screen, just barely, as my game was still paused. Through the pause menu, I see the outline of a character, but their model is completely black. I exit the pause menu. I check the leader board, no one is in the game. No chat message saying anyone has joined. All I can see is this perfectly still, unrecognizable model of something, not identifiable of any distinct class, rather a tall, black, lanky model. I move backwards, and this thing still follows me. I notice it is slowly getting closer to me, arms out on each side, legs straight, and getting closer to filling my camera. I keep shooting, and the model distorts violently. Each time I shoot, my scout takes fire damage, and the burning sound effect kept getting louder and louder, becoming loud and unrecognizable. As this strange model nearly enveloped my character, my game froze. The sound of the game repeating itself. I tried moving my mouse now that I am out of the game, and it worked, and I rapidly clicked the game so I could close it. As the game closed completely, steam said it was still running. I don't understand. Ever since I've felt cold. My controller has been becoming more dark each day, and my computer keeps running out of storage, and when I check to see what's flooding my space, I see an application for a split second and no more. I don't know what this game has done, or if this was intentional, but I hate it. I hate it and I want no more of it. It has enraged me beyond belief. And inferno is still in my friends list. I can't remove them. I don't know what to do.

This game with multiplayer can be very, VERY fun. With DRTC constantly updating, adding wacky events and realism at once is amazing, it essentially feels like tf2 (graphics choice wise, not gameplay) where instead of having an amazing beautiful crisp look, instead uses it's graphics in a way to embrace it's tone. People compare this to Oregon Trail, but even oregon trail wasn't this diverse where instead of using random diseases on road, instead gives things to keep up with like food, happiness, and gas. This game is so random, funny, and just opens every possibility. Single player is cool as well, but very hard to beat. The A.I. Can be very, VERY stupid and can't really live up to the fighting, running expectation. If you have a smart dog (play the game to see what I mean) and go into huge, crowded mall and collect everything you can get.
