8/10 base game. Very fun to play, yet becomes a bit boring after a while. 9/10 with DLC that adds more stuff and makes the game more fresh. 9.5/10 with just mods, making the game extremely customisable and very fun. 10/10 with both mods and DLCs, since the DLCs allow you to gain access to all of the mods. (and the DLCs themselves are quite good)

I remember playing this colony sim online game websites when I am younger. I have recently rediscovered it on steam. This game is unironically very good for a colony sim, and well worth the price. However, it is by no means perfects. During my review, I will first discuss some of the issues I take with the game, and then I will go into its benefits.

Here are my own issues with the game:

1) (this is more of a nitpit) It forces you to have a big colony
The title needs a bit of contextualisation. The game has a normal population cap of 3000 to prevent lag. While that is fine in concept, in reality is, in the late game, huge amounts of resources are required to progress the missions of certain "factions", which will kinda force you to build a bigger city. I don't get the option of limiting the population to 3000, since realisticically you will be playing with more people.

2) Multiple colonies are not handled very well
Towards the end of the game, you would get option to start a new colony in a different world, but it is within the same save file. While this is fine by itself, time does not progress in the other colonies. This means that, when you are building your next colony, your home base would not be producing anything. This can be somewhat fustrating

3) (This is really personal, and probably only affects me, but)... It is a nuisance in the posterior to "upgrade" custom houses

In this game, you have the really cool option of making custom houses. While you do get the ability to upgrade its quality, you do not get the ability to increase or decrease their capacity. Thus, you need to replace everything by hand. This is quite annoying to do

With that out of the way, I would like to discuss what I like about the game

1) It is just very satisfying
You are basically simulating a very chill ant farm, and you would get to see your citizens living their regular life. You can either take pride in them living gradually longer life, or take joy in trolling them, by sending them to distant lands with the misdirector.

2) It is quite easy to pick up
The game has relatively simple mechanics, and it is very easy to keep track of things.

3) Solid colony sim
The game is just a pretty solid colony sim, nothing much to be added there.

So overall, while this is not my favorite colony sim (rimworld #1), I can certainly see how some people would enjoy this game. If you are looking for a chill experience, and a relatively quick game to pick up and play, I would recommend this game. 8 / 10, very solid.

Generally speaking, a pretty solid game, though it is not without its flaw.

The main gameplay, the combat, generally feels alright. There are some detriments to the combat though.

On the player side, the movement feels a bit clunk. Subjectively speaking, you are not as maneuverable as you are in other games. The dodges are considerably weaker (with considerable end lag and a lack of an I frame). You do have a parry mechanic, but that is very circumstantial (you cannot parry half or more of the attacks), and might not play a main effect on some end game fights. To elaborate, there is this mechanic in which some attacks are suppose to be dodged, some parried, and some double rolled away (or just another way to say dodged), and in most of the fights, there is little chance for you to parry. You can also get stunlocked very easily, since there is no I-frames for you on damage, and you get no recovery option, meaning that on higher difficulty, towards the end game, you might die very easily b/c you got comboed by either an enemy or a boss.

On the enemy side, most of their design are fine, although some bosses (on higher difficulties), feels a bit unfair. This is because some of their attacks feels way too quick to counter (you do not have time to set up a heavy attack to disrupt them or dodgeroll to safety), which, coupled with a bit confusing hurtbox, might make it feel very frustrating.

On some other negative notes, some mechanics in the game does not feel like they have any weights. The game attempts to make an armor mechanic, which is suppose to be when you are trading mobility for higher armor. However, on a normal playthrough, armor does not make a huge noticeable difference, and that the light armor you get from exploration is generally good enough in most cases. There is also a quick travel system, which, while being fine with it personally, might feel to some as being a bit lack luster. The game also has three difficulty sections. The normal mode is generally fine. The hard mode is generally fine, although very unforgiving. Some of the boss fights in hard mode might also feel unfair, given the previously mentioned reasons.

Negatives out of the way, on the normal difficulty, the game is generally quite fun. Non of the bosses feel very unfair (although there might be the occasional frustrating death). Despite its many flaws ,the combat of this game feels quite fun and unique. It feels weightier, or is at least a bit more "realistic" for these sort of 2D games. The art style is quite charming. The story, while simplistic, is quite enjoyable.

Overall, despite some of its flaws, Tails of Iron is a pretty solid game. I would generally agree with the community's consensus on the rating of this game. Although, personally, it is a 8 / 10 for me.

Criminally underrated. A fast pace card building game that has very satisfying and rewarding combat. There is a great variety of cards, which enables different set of playstyles. some cards also have very neat references to other games or media, which is always fun to read.

My only critique is that the enemy variety is a bit limited, and some bosses have "peculiar" dodging patterns that might seem undodgeable.

Also, to provide some further context, the game lacks any form of permanent upgrades (except for unlocks of new cards / characters), thus the only way to progress further is to git gud.

Overall, this, to me, is a very solid game. Do not let the hard early game discourage you. Give it a couple of hours, get familiar with the mechanics, in order for this game to trully shine. 9/10 highly recommanded.

Started playing this game hoping to get the base ending. Finished this game wearing a weathered mask and waiting for Silksong. This game has got it all, world-building, art-style, enemies, soundtrack, and combat. It is virtually perfect, and definitely worth the price.

The combat in this game feels great, and the fight against the final boss is very fun, albeit quite challenging. The parry system is quite generous and satisfying. The story is excellent. The visuals are unique and are magnificent. It also has interesting ties to ancient china and its mythologies. The difficulty is present, but is generally fair. The only somewhat of a issue I have with this game is that there isn't really a good way to keep track of side quests, nor any clear hints towards the requirement for different endings. Overall, a very solid game, and game of the year for me.

Very fun concept. The exploration is nice, and there is a decent amount of blueprints. The atmosphere is superb. Although, one possible concern is that the stasis rifle is a bit over powered. That, coupled with a knife, will trivialise any fights, even when several ghost leviathans are present.

Celeste is one of those game that aroused the stubborn determination within all of us. Its tight platforming and satisfying mechanics comprises an extremely exciting and compelling game to enjoy. Its stories made us emotional and determined, its moments of humour have made us forget about our daily sorrows, the amazing track eases the tension of what otherwise would constitute as an impossible level. Though rage inducing it may be at some time, though unfair certain levels might appear at first glance, those are but blemishes which could not overshadow the wonder that is celeste.
