45 HOURS, and ive yet to complete the story, as i take my time and explore the world and side missions / Gigs.

-- After i complete the game, Ill return with a much more detailed review, going over Story, Design, ect ect. --

But from my time playing as of this post.

Game has Side missions all over, and an MASSIVE world to explore and discover what it has to show. Yeah sure the game has its bugs, I've had to reload a time or two. but i can look past minor issues that will be fixed in a short while to see though to the FANTASTIC game and world that this game brings to the table. so much detail and care.

I Avg around 62 FPS.
Min FPS 33 in city center where the Map is very dense with alot going on above and below.
90FPS in the smaller parts of town.
Ultra settings, No M.Blur and Flim grain.
Ray Tracing on,

Ryzen 9 3900x.
2080Super.
32GB ram.
1TB NVME SSD
ASRock Fatal1ty Mobo
850M EVGA PSU.

all Air cooled.

Much better then it used to be when it released on battle.net many years ago. i transfered my account over when it came to steam and started playing again.

Highly recomend if this is your sorta game, ive got 300+ hours since steam and still got plnety todo and catch up on. and with the new seasons, plenty of new content added regulary

has potential

Great game. simple and fun. Good for wasting time. totaly worth picking it up

This game and the devs have come a LONNNNNNNNNG way since the game first came out. I highly recommend this game when on sale to anyone who enjoys open world games and exploration. Lots of exotic planets to see, and plenty of story and side quests to do as well.

Game still gets content updates. and while there are still bugs, there is a big update coming out in the next few weeks (814/19?) and ill update this review after that update comes out.

current Pros and cons.

Pros:

Endless planets and systems to discover and explore. with some very strange and pretty planets to be seen in some of the harder to reach systems.
Lots of Different spaceships and styles for different play styles or uses.
Land and water Vehicles, excellent for exploring vast planets.
Tons of options and things to do. be a Pirate? grind and farm? the choice is yours.
Game runs well.
Base building has been vastly improved, even with customization and base building on player owned freighters.

options and choices are quite vast on how you choose to play the game. Lots of player freedom. Much like Minecraft or other games of that like.

Cons:

Planets and wildlife do follow a fairly basic system. Understandably when there are endless planets to generate, cant hand create them all. - but i would like to see this improved tho.

Resource farming can be a bit grindy, I'd like to see some late / mid game stuff added to help with this. maybe quarries or mining robots?

multiplayer is fairly buggy still. however, this is supposed to be addressed in the BEYOND update. and this review has be updated after that update releases. mid-august

repairing broken ships found on planets can be abit resource heavy to fix. making the best option to just get them hardly working and sell them for another ship - id like to see this adjusted so that repairing them would be move favorable.

overall i give this game a 8/10 i recommend if its on sale. plenty of play time involved in the game, and lots of nice planets and places to see.

Delvopment Hell.

Half life 3 will probly realase before this game leave's Early Access.


2019 Update : welp I guess HL:A has been announced and has a set release date of march 2020. so i guess i was sorta right? Its not HL:3. but is a Half life game none the less.

The updates this game has gotten are nice, But i would expect a game i've been following for over 6 years to finally come out of Early access.


I recommend this game, As long as you dont expect it to be finished anytime soon.

The content that is here is extreamely well done. Its just lacking more content.

Get the game on sale.

this is no longer the game I remember, and certainly no longer the game I enjoyed.

IDK what the Dev's where thinking but its rather disappointing to check back in and see where this game has led itself.

Sadly i cannot recommend this game anymore.
