I've been playing SWTOR since it first went F2P all those years ago. I was a kid and didn't really understand what I was doing, and I struggled with the difficulty (this was before they made everything easy). Over the years, I played on/off; I tried to get into the game, because I liked MMOs and I loved Star Wars and a story-focused BioWare Star Wars MMO was basically my dream back then. Still, I never quite managed to get into it.

Around early 2019 I picked up the game again and decided to power through one of the stories. I made a Zabrak Sith Inquisitor (Sorc) and almost immediately I fell in love with this game. I made it to Voss before I got burnt out and stopped playing for a while. Eventually I finished the Inquisitor story, and I was so excited to play the other stories in the game. School got in the way though, and I wouldn't pick up the game again until the pandemic.

And then I fell in love all over again - and I subscribed for the first time after the game released on Steam, and I haven't looked back.

I've spent over a thousand hours on this game alone. I know that number is easily dwarfed by a lot of dedicated people, but it's one of my highest playtimes in any game and I'm proud of it. I've enjoyed every single moment I've spent playing this game, and I owe a lot of that to the community. I've never played an MMO with a community as friendly as SWTOR's. Sometimes the chats on Dromund Kaas and the Imperial Fleet can get really edgy and annoying, but there's always someone on willing to help you out if you're struggling with a boss or want to buy a cool-looking armor set on the GTN (player market) and can't afford it.

When I was starting out, I asked if someone could buy me a purple crystal for my lightsaber because I was short on credits, and almost immediately some long-time player just casually gave me 20mil credits to spend on whatever I wanted. That genuinely blew my mind - and I knew that I wanted to do the same for new players some day. Nowadays I have a few billion in my legacy bank, and I try to help out new players as often as I can to pass on that kindness - and luckily I'm nowhere near the only player with that same mindset. There are so many genuinely wonderful people you can meet and talk to while playing this game. I made so many friends when I joined the Imperial Remnant roleplay-guild on Star Forge, and the memories from my time with that guild still stick with me (hi to anyone who remembers me - I played Valkerna, who was Syn Dhasi's apprentice :] )

Anyways - I love SWTOR. I haven't played since before the newest expansion dropped, and there are many reasons for that. Super high economic inflation, lack of meaningful new story content, my own struggles with mental health at the time. . . It's an exhaustive list, but none of it has soured my opinion of this game. I've been playing since I was like 8, and in a few months I'll be 19, and I hope I can still play when I'm 30 :)

Never touched the base game. Played exclusively with the Legends mod. Currently have almost 200 hours in the game and I'm still learning. One of the best games I think I've ever played - and also one of the very few games that can make me frustrated. If you like the game, check out the Legends mod :) it overhauls so many things for the better.
