Updated to clarify an important point: I should mention before you read the rest of this, this is more of an interactive narrative than a "game". Don't buy this expecting anything more than a short story with an (almost) predetermined outcome. Much of what you do in this is follow instructions to progress the story, and maybe find a little lore along the way if you're explorative.

My main peeves lie with the text shell and mash-to-make-a-message IRC as mechanics. I will mention now, the narrative doesn't last long enough to make either of these get stale. In fact they even somewhat lend toward a strong slow and hesitant theme which aids in furthering the tone. But they are issues which I'll clarify below.

Firstly, the terminal navigation can be a little clunky due to its simplistic nature, with a few bugs and limitations arising. Secondly, the narrative message typing would benefit from letting you use multiple keys at once to type, or alternatively prompting you what to type as a compliment to another similar mechanic present. (It currently tracks if any alphabetic key has been pressed, then expects any key to be released before the next press.)

It's not perfect, but it's still put together well enough to convey the unsettling narrative it aims for, and personally I enjoyed it enough to share my honest thoughts with this review.

A gripping action horror roguelite about climbing to survive. Currently, there's 3 main sections to the game with, plenty of secrets to discover, and a decent amount of unlocks and to keep you challenging yourself. The game keeps you on your toes at almost all times with obstacles and tricky branching paths, leaving it up to you to find the fastest way up without falling victim to the many threats which want to keep you down.

Additionally, the higher you manage to climb, the more variations of floors you unlock for the levels areas below. So when you next fall, you get to experience new content to keep things fresh as you scramble back to where you were once again. There also is a lives system you can activate between sections however, so if you do fall you won't always have to start totally over. (Note, at the time of reviewing there isn't a way to save and quit midrun, however this has been confirmed by the devs to be resolved with a coming update)

Meanwhile if on the contrary you find the base game too chill, there is a Hard Mode you unlock once beating the main game which will test your climbing skills to the limits. And last but not least, there's some varieties of endless modes for the sections of the game, allowing you to ascend to your hearts content.

For an early access title it seems really promising even at this stage of development, and I recommend at least keeping an eye on this game, maybe even take the leap of faith and hang along for the ride by getting the game.

An incredible experience to dive into blind- with the environment as a puzzle waiting for you to traverse it, putting the emphasis on the journey you take. Discovery is this game's strongest positive, and no game I know of pulls it off as well as Outer Wilds does.

An incredible game with quite a bit of replay value; the decisions you make have consequences, and those consequences ultimately will affect where you end up on the other side of all this chaos.

If you find the gameplay challenges to be a bit much amidst chaos of the news, you have multiple difficulty options and free reign on changing what obstacles you'll face, including turning off hazards individually to ensure you can achieve a perfect news broadcast.

What about *more* challenge? NFB has got you covered with the Challenge Room. Replay any broadcast you want, with whatever hazards you want, and with even more impatient viewers.

So what are you waiting for? The National Nightly News isn't going to edit itself.

"Your job: Collect worthless garbage to return to the company desk."
"It's easy!"

Everything that can go wrong will probably go wrong. What matters is that we go down laughing and crying at each other's screams.

8 hours so in and so far, I have lost the reactor more than saved it. Here's my breakdown and review of this game:

See those panels? Looks fun right? Well, in an odd way they're also addictive.

Welcome to Save the Reactor. This game tests your competence and multitasking skills while providing a light comedic dialog with your co-workers before and after every one of the 10 in game shift days. You gradually get introduced into the gist of things at your new job before being thrown through the loop completely. And due to unforeseen circumstances, some things may make your panel-man job a little bit more tedious. (I'm talking modifiers, which you can choose yourself later on in the game.)

The fun also doesn't end there, as you can test your skills beyond what the game would normally in Endless mode. You can choose your modifiers here like the later game but the panel's difficulty rating is ever increasing. The goal here isn't about time but units of energy accumulated, which is affected by the modifiers. A clever way to make you want to face the constant annoyances of levels past even in Endless.

But whether you play the game for the short light comedy comedy of a story or to try and get all those juicy 19 achievements, the question still remains, Are you competent (or just stubborn) enough to Save the Reactor?

Let me start with one phrase. This phrase sets the tone for the whole game and the entire experience you are about to embark on. "Sinking with the ship."

This isn't just about the you. This isn't just about the dinky pod you barely got in. This is about survival, to the very, last, possible second. You have the means to keep this pod going for as long as you possibly can, but it is up to you to prioritize the needs of the systems over the others. Without you, this ship will fall apart, and without the ship your demise is all but guaranteed in this game of mutual survival. You're sinking with the ship. But as it does, the ship sinks with you.

On top of all of this, an official discord is available where the developers are active and friendly. They've already addressed many of the issues that have cropped up during development.

Terraria is an amazing game that lets you do whatever you want in a 2D world. Over the years the developers worked hard on adding new content that improved the game drastically. Want to make a mine cart track to bridge across your world? You can. Want to explore some caves? Go ahead. Want to try to become insanely overpowered? It may take time but you can get there!

On top of all of that, the community behind the game is so massive that once you want to move on to even more, you can enjoy a plethora of user created content and use the tModLoader to play a humongous library of mods.

So do yourself a favor and get this game. Maybe even enjoy it with some friends.
