I've yet to finish either my solo or coop playthroughs, but the pull to come back, try new combos, try new classes, figure my way out of all sorts of encounters is downright intoxicating.

There are a few quality of life changes with menuing or making unintended moves that could help the game, but its never detracted from the overwhelming amount of things this game gets right

I've put a good amount of time into Dirty Bomb. and I may as well give it a good review to help others understand why I would put so much time into this game.

First things first, the game IS free to play and you lose nothing but time for trying the game out. However for those first couple of matches the game doesent explain a lot of things to you. The recently added tutorial and assault course (make sure you go throug those by the way) does a good enough job explaining mechanics, but the characters, classes, and loadout system is never explained, which is a big issue.

Loadouts, loadouts, loadouts.
I honestly like parts of the loadout system, and I dont mind having preset weapon and augmentation combos. I feel its a viable way for developers to avoid players creating completely dominant setups leaving no use for many weapons and augmentations, so A+ for that. Thankfully bronze+ tier cards have no bonus gameplay advantages, but its not quite clear about that to new players, so they should really get to that. Also the cosmetic part of loadouts bears a problem. Getting loadouts is random, and you (majority of the time) cannot decide what loadout you'll be getting, or what cosmetic options itll come with. This means that if you saveu p all of your credits and resources to get a cobalt card for your favorite merc, but get a gun youre bad with and in the color you dont like, you're ♥♥♥♥ out of luck. When unboxing crates you cant even decide what merc youll be getting a card for, so you can end up with plently of flat out useless cards. Overall if they seperate the cosmetic part of the cards from the randomness of getting cards, it might end up better

Characters.
This game has a good variety of characters, and no one character really feels overpowered to me right now. You've got your engineers who do objectives faster, your medics who keep people alive, your recon who are good at ranged fighting or being a ♥♥♥♥ to the enemies, and youre normal fraggers who dish out lots of damage in spectacular ways. The characters youre given to start with are very good and easy to learn, so Im glad they start you out with those. Problem is they dont start you out with an engie, meaning a lot of new players dont touch objectives and it can be a bit infuriating. The characters do have a good range of nationalities, personalities, and abilities, and I really do think its one of the strongest parts of the game. Everyone feels unique with maybe the exception of Arty being a mini Skyhammer. Overall great characters and fun abilities.

Unlocking characters has never been a problem for me either. It can take 30'000 to 50'000 credits to unlock them (or 10$ but I dont reccommend that) which can be a lot, but if you do your daily wins / plays and complete missions you can quickly and easily rack up those coins. Just try not to spend too much on loadout cards if you want new characters. Theres also a free rotation every 2 weeks or so, so you can always try out characters you might not otherwise buy.

As for those mechanics and gameplay, I think theyre one of the most standout parts of the game. Time to kill feels perfect and it really rewards landing headshots (which feel oh so good to do). Movement is fantastic being able to wall jump, long jump, and get around quite well. You feel in control of your character and pulling off wall jumps to get to parts of the levels feels fantastic. Weapons have just the right amount of punch and recoile and are incredibly satisfying, the gameplay is one of the parts that really keeps me coming back.

However the future of this game is looking bleak. Its been a good year+ since we've had a new character or map release, and the 6 normal + 3 execution maps can get a bit bland after 150+ hours of gameplay. Splash damage is working on a lot of projects and I can understand dirty bomb not being on the backburner, but the game feels so close to being out of beta and being done. The player base is slowly dropping, but still has a good 2000+ players online at any time, so you will have no problems finding a match to play in. Who knows how long those numbers will last, but as long as they do and you can play the game, I'd say its worth a shot

My old review didnt quite capture just how good this game is, and for how much time ive put into it I should fix that.

Back around when the game was released I was still into minecraft, and I thought Terraria looked like that quirky "2d minecraft", and in its very early beginnings of 1.0, that is pretty much what it was. However the devs werent content with that, and they kept at it. Over time Terraria has come a long way from the "2d minecraft" and become its own beast, a beast thats eaten more of my time than I like to admit.

You start the game off as you would any mining game. You're weak and things hurt, your tools suck and you need to get better ones. So of course you chop some trees, make a cube to live in, and start spelunking for ores. Hey whats that, a golden chest? Wow, boots that make me run really fast! I wonder what else there is down here.
The beginning of the game creates a wonderful sense of adventuring and exploration while seeing your character become stronger. Youve got cool equipment, youve got some spanking new gold armor and tools, and you can beat any zombie who tries to best you. You think you're the toughest ♥♥♥♥, but suddenly you feel an evil presence watching you, and WOAH A GIANT EYEBALL.

This is the part where Terraria really starts to seperate itself and become so unique, its many many boss encounters.
Each boss is a unique test of your skill and can be surmounted using any of the combat methods, ranged, melee, magic, or summoning. The bosses have thousands of health and become an onslaught of you dodging and memorizing their patterns (to an extent) while scrambling to get in as much damage while staying alive. And after each boss battle your rewards encourage you to keep exploring, to keep finding new biomes and loot, and to keep becoming stronger, and it all feels so natural and good. There are a few times this exploration and getting cool loot becomes grindy, but the reward for some badass equipment and armor makes it all worth it. Every boss you defeat feels like youre finishing the chapter of a book, and you cant wait to get to the next one. And you just keep playing until youve beaten the final event and feel accomplished, but now what?

Terraria becomes highly replayable because of the sheer amount of content there is to explore and experience. You can start a new playthrough, try to limit what items you use or even try out one of the different "classes" and see how your approach to each fight and exploration changes. The melee class will go head first into battle with his oodles of defense while ripping and tearing, the ranger will hit constant criticals and keep enemies at bay with his bullets or arrows. Mages hit hard with incredible weapons and debuffs while managing their mana and staying safe, and the Summoner creates vicious minions to do his bidding allowing him to focus on dodging and staying safe.

But your new world might have different ares to discover. Did you get the corruption or crimson? Each offer their own set of bosses and unique items to gather.
Maybe your world didnt have a pyramid for you to explore, and the caverns you find will be a whole new experience.
You can try expert mode, where you get unique items that you cant normally, but enemies hit harder and take more punishment.
Maybe you could try building a cool snow fortress this time instead of some basic squares that we all start with.

Oh right, the building in this game can be great for those creative types as well. Theres thousands of different block types for you to build with, each of which can be painted to create even more variations. You have hundreds of pieces of furniture to work with to create just waht you want. You can even use complex wiring and logic systems to create mechanisms to do things as cool as defending against waves of enemies all on its own to opening a door because you cant be bothered to right click it. Ive spent hours building bases for me and my friends to play in.

Oh right, friends. This game is perfectly fine playing single player, and honestly thats how I got most of my playtime. However you can use steam integration to play with friends and the game becomes completely different. You and your friend have to split resources with eachother, and it can lead to more time spent mining, but you also have two sets of hands now. You and your friend can pick different classes, team up on bosses, work off of eachothers weaknesses when exploring, or keep closing the door on your friend to be a jerk! I've played this game through many times with a couple of friends and we've had some great times and laughs together. If you have any of your friends interested in playing, its a great experience trust me.

I could keep going on but this review is already really long and I doubt anybody is going to read it all, so Ill sum it up in the words of the great smash mouth

"so much to do, so much to see"

Pick this game up, its still being updated with cool new content and fixes, and it goes on sale all the time. The developers have transformed this game from a mediocre clone to my absolute favorite indie game of all time, please support them for being such awesome people.

It may not be the worms armageddon / worms 2 that many people love so much, but comparing to some of the newer worms games its not bad. There are a decent amount of weapons and probobally the best customization of your worm out of all the games in my opinon. Its definetell a great game to buy and play with friends, but I would wait until a sale comes around a pick it up for a little less than 20$

I have a complicated relationship with this game.

I've put an unhealthy amount of time into it, and I've enjoyed almost all of that time and don't have any regrets for doing so. The gamplay is absolutely fantastic and at just the right pace for me, you feel so in control and theres so many options you're given as a player, so much counterplay, that it just feels so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. But the game is starting to get a bit stagnant.

The community is great and can be a fun goofy place to hangout, but sometimes it gets a little bit too goofy and starts going into memey and obnoxious. Theres no solving that and people can enjoy their memes, but it can get too repetetive sometimes.
As for the community there are plenty of mods and custom servers for you to join, meet people, and hang around with. Most of the old communities I played with ended up dying off and it kind of killed my enjoyment of the game for a bit, but when they were around TF2 was just a blast and I would spend afternoons or even entire weekends hanging out and having fun.

But why did they all leave and go away? Its how valve treats this game nowadays.

Impactful updates are becoming few and far between, the game gets stagnant if you've been playing it for long enough, and when you've put so much time into the game it can be grueling waiting for another change to come through, and bring in that breath of fresh air to the game. Sadly most of the times with these new additions, come way more bugs than should be acceptable and it feels like the game becomes unplayable after even the smallest of changes, which can put a lot of people off of this game.

Yet even though I dislike the direction updates are going (too many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hats), and it feels like the game is nearing the end of the line (no not that one), I did put thousands of hours into it, and you may be able to find the charm and community that I did that can keep you around for so long. However if you aren't able to get into the game or understand its mechanics, I don't think Valve is going to do anything else to fix that. The game we have right now may very well the same thing we have in the next 6 months, so unless you like what you see you may not enjoy the game.

I do still love this game, but I've put so much time into it that I had to move on. And since I've put so much time into it I have to recommend it, but do be ready for some heartbreaks from valve
