A game that does almost nothing new, but almost everything right.

The two main strains of the modern survival genre are, I think we can all agree, Minecraft and Stalker/DayZ (the latter two both more or less inheiriting ARMA's engine quirks, interestingly). SurrounDead combines them effortlessly; using the ever-popular Zombie Apocalypse template. Heck, even the extremely basic graphic style is an UE5-mishmash of lego-y blockishness and Eastern European pseudo-photorealism.
But more specifically, this seems like a Pacific Northwestern-ish setting. One that is very reminiscent of Days Gone - the ambitious but frustratingly dumb "Last Of Us but open world"-attempt from Sony.

Well, SurrounDead has no boring and obviously still alive (or is she or isn't she?) wife whose grave at the edge of the map I have to visit. I'm writing this after 30+ hours of the current 0.7 Early Acess version, and I already got MUCH more than my money's worth out of this game. If the devs keep updating this, then in 5 years or so, EVERYONE will have heard of this game.

So yeah, 9/10 or whatever. Immersive survival sims are my cocaine, I can't help it :(

A faithful remake of the original, that preserves most of the level design, story, and atmosphere (well, except for the music, lol) of the classic proto-imsim; while updating the gameplay to that of a run&gun metroidvania, with a wonderful arsenal of weapons.
This one isn't just for us oldheads. If you've never played System Shock back in the day, in all its clunky glory, or even the still p clunky but now way too easy remaster, you should also give this a shot. SHODAN is still one of the all-time greatest video game villains (excellent updated performance by Teri Brosius, btw, she's still the goat), and now you can experience her first hand better than ever, insect.

The best "Roguelike" I've ever played. A perfect synthesis of gameplay and story, without a doubt Supergiant's best so far. Play it!

THIS GAME HAS PENGUINS!
Cute ones, which are the best penguins. Not many games have penguins, so I think this is worth pointing out. Most of your time is spent mining and building, but from time to time you will run accross some very cute penguins. The penguins even talk! Some of the penguins can be a bit mean to you, but I forgive them, because they are penguins.
If you like penguins, this is the game for you.
