This was my entry game for the Legend of Heroes games, and I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into when I started this one. It took me roughly 4 years to get through this game because at the time, I just didn't have an hour and a half to spare to read an incredibly long cut scene. I'm past that now, and I was able to plow through the second half of the game in about a week, while still working, and my gosh the second half ramps things up. The ending also pushed me straight into the second game, and that was completed quite quick. I will be completing all of the Legend of Heroes games, solely because of my experience with this game, so that's a thumbs up from me.

Was looking for what I described as "X4, but multiplayer", and this is the closest I could find to scratch that itch. While it doesn't necessarily have ALL the features of X4, it has enough of them to make my brain create chemicals that I like, so I'm cool with this, and so are my slaves friends.

I'm posting this with a few hundred hours in, and still starting another playthrough without ever having beaten the game. There is ALWAYS something to do, and it always feel important. You can make your factory as fancy as you want. You can make your factory as cluttered as you want. It's all up to you. It's your job to make sure it stays running. This game has been a staple of my life, as someone who has always enjoyed doing math (I don't know why, leave me alone). The studio works hard to implement features that are huge in the community, and if there's a feature you really want, I promise you, there's a mod for it.

How can I even start this?
As an experienced driver who is no longer on the road, this game builds a lot of nostalgia and experience-related memories. It's also an amazing way to relax, even with your friends. It works extremely well with a steering wheel, even giving you that steering wheel "rumble" to simulate bumpy roads and engine torque. If I could afford a motion-simulated chair, this would be the exact game I would use that for.
As for the graphics and performance, this game looks amazing, and has full mod support to make it look even more amazing, but these guys do update this game very often, which tends to break the more intricate mods. I'm not complaining about that though, I would rather go without the mod and have an extra state!
I have found that city lights in this game do cause it to lag a bit, but it's nothing too extreme. My brain lags in real life cities anyway.
The DLC may seem like an expensive buy, but don't let that deter you from buying. Play the game without it, see how you feel about the experience itself, then pick up 1 or 2 states (or a whole bundle!), rinse and repeat. Once you have them all, it's an investment of like $10 every 3 months.
