This game is honestly great. one of my favourite games I've played in recent months. However i don't recommend this game for a couple reasons.
Ranked is the biggest oof to this game. I would love to be competitive but it is really impossible unless you are in a group of people that really know how to play the game. Too many games are decided by a few people that don't understand how the game works.. Too many people in ranked just do not understand the basics of the game. Too many people just randomly follow the herd, too many people don't understand how to use wills or how to claim. There is a surprising amount of people that just flat out don't understand all the rolls AND THEY ARE PLAYING RANKED.

Sure that might not be the biggest problem on the planet but it really effects the game. I don't want to play because I know i will get paired with people that don't play properly and when at least 3-4 people per game throw the game (either because they are trolls or don't know how to play the game) it ceases to be fun.

Maybe a report feature where if a player gets reported too many times for unskillful play they are forced to play 10-20 ranked practice games could help. Also, and this isn't a great suggestion but it is a suggestion, increase the minimum amount of game played to play ranked from 50 to something like 300. In 50 games it is unlikely you'll even play every role.

Another suggestion is to have a few will templates. Maybe 3 default ones like a bank one, one with your character's name and roll then n1) n2) n3) etc. Then another template with a list for every role so you can fill it in as the game goes.

(something like)
(NAME)
Jailor:
TI:
TI:
TP:
TS:
RT:
RT:
RT:
GODFATHER:
MAF:
RM:
RM:
NE:
NK:

I think having those templates would really help new players understand how to more effectively use their will. Then (For higher skill players) a way to add a custom will to each role. Like have your jailor's will set up one way and your spy's will set up another. That would be super useful for alot of players and really doesn't give anyone an advantage.

Finally have a way to differentiate between mobile and desktop players. This may add to mobile players getting bullied in games but honestly they do anyways. Also there is a way to metagame by saying you're on mobile. It is a common thing when playing jailor to execute someone if they don't respond in 3-5 seconds as it is usually a sign that they are thinking of a fake role to say. People have been metagaming by just saying "Oh no i wasn't thinking of a role i am just on mobile and it is harder to type."

Also i just thought of this now. Make the covern expansion cheaper. There are already only a few people playing the game now and even less people willing to essentially buy the game again just to play with a few different roles. The covern is really fun but it is hard to find games.

Now i know i kinda ♥♥♥♥ on this game at the beginning but that's because i really like this game and want to see it become better but there are a few, seemingly small but actually massive, things holding it back in its current state. If the game is changed (like adding my will idea, really do it i think it would help the game alot) i will re write this review and come back to the game. However as it stands... i cant justify playing this game competitively/in ranked and non ranked bores me, there is no incentive in non ranked game modes. People don't care about winning if they get nothing out of it.

I would love to hear your ideas for the game and how horribly wrong i am about everything.

Edit after a few updates:
Ok so they updated the game a few times since my review and it kinda makes me more upset.

First the UI:
Now i don't play the game on mobile, and i never have, so i don't know if the ui and everything is the same on mobile or not but the new UI feels very mobile-y. Giant buttons, massive text, etc. There are some parts that i like; like when someone gets killed there is more emphasis on them and what killed them. Thats a good thing. Another great thing that is kinda insane it took this long to add is when you are marfia it shows the other mafia on the player list. Thank god. This is a great addition and i legitimately want to say this helps the game out a fair bit. Makes it easier for newcomers, makes it easier to tell people with similar names apart. Just a general QOL improvement.
Other parts of the UI i don't like. Like the main menu. The biggest annoyance for me is that when you hover over icons they glow (nothing bad about that) but the shop is ALWAYS GLOWING and this is not a bug, like it gets brighter when you hover over it. It really makes it stick out like a sore thumb. At first i thought there was some sort of daily free ~thing~ to be collected. Like that's how bright and in your face it is.
Other general stuff i don't like about the UI is just how much it feels like it is meant for a mobile phone. It weird playing it on pc now.
One final thing that i love about the new UI (see this isn't all hate) is now the "send in chat" button on your will and notes. That is great and i am thankful of that. Also kind of related there is a button next to each line in the text box that lets you copy it. That is also super useful.

The new notes:
Ok so you can keep notes now that aren't shown when you die. Why would you ever do this dear god remove it please. I get it is nice to keep notes that aren't shown to people when you die but a big thing in the game, one of the high skill-cap things you could do, is managing your will as to not give out too much info when you die. That is gone. And like i've heard people say "Well its to stop people writing dumb stuff in their will like "XXX is XXX" When you are a witch or whatever else." But this notes doesn't fix that. I don't know why most people would ever write something in the notes. 99% of the time you want people to be able to read your notes and what you are thinking; who you think is evil and why when you die. It is silly.
Now. There is some upside to this. This could be seen as a VERY slight buff to evils. Being able to keep track of stuff you shouldn't know and no one would ever know, even when you die. But really i still think it should be removed.
The thing that offends me more though is that they got so close to implementing what i recommended. If the notes had templates that you could turn on or off depending on your role or even just a global template for everyone then i could forgive it. I would even say it was good. But it doesn't have this. Notes, as they are currently, is just another way to write down info that most people are going to use significantly less, is going to hinder people in games with people who use it too much (Such as people who write everything or mostly everything in the notes) and [most of all] is going to confuse new players.

As you can tell i am frustrated. I really am. I like this game. Its a great game. I want more people to play this game. But this game has a very steep learning curve that the devs are not addressing. A new player is not going to understand how to use SPY. Alot of people playing for hours don't understand how to use spy. Alot of players don't understand how to use alot of characters. And i think that means the Devs have failed. No hate to them at all. But they seem misguided. They seem to be implementing updates without understanding why players want updates.
Now I am not super active in the community. I am not in any Town Of Salem discords and i don't watch any youtubers or anything. So it is possible that i am out of touch... but yeah i don't know... This is just my opinion.

Do i recommend this game. Yes.
Is it a good game? I don't know.

I have only played this game for a short amount of time but there is something that is really bugging me. The catalogue is really limited. There seems to be alot missing and not much really matches, espically in the kitchen. There are a few premade counters and all that but, now im not sure if i am missing anything, none of them match. There was this really nice corner counter with a sink and good looking drawrs but it is shorter then everything else in the kitchen section meaning i can't put another cabnet or even an oven next to it. Because of this i had to use the uguly cabnets that come individually. This is the same with almost everything in the game and it is what really ruines this for me. There are a few other flaws but they can be overlooked, the fact that no funiture matches is what ruines this game for me. I don't think i will be coming back until there are alot of new funiture options added or maybe steam workshop support. I wont refund this game because i think it has potential but I'm not going to play it until there is another update.

This is an excellent charming game. I've never played harvest moon so i can't really talk about how similar it is but quite a few people say they share feactures. This game is great, however after a handful of hours it can turn into a grind. If you aren't exactly shure what you should be doing then it can turn into a sleeping simulator. However when you do know what you are doing you oftenly run out of energy. While this is easily fixed mid to late game, early game this is a huge pain. There are some mods that can make the game easier and more enjoyable without breaking the game and i suggest you look for them youself if you plan on really putting hours into this. I think once you get over the initial hurtle of figuring out what to do this game can become alot more fun for some people and boring for others.

So darksouls 3 is my favourite game i have ever played. And after recently finishing the game, all achievements, i can say. Its good. You should play it. Its definitely the easiest souls game so thats good if youre on the fence about it. And it still has an active online community.

I am a bit salty that my max soul level character that had every single item in the game got banned. Seemingly because the anticheat thinks that max = cheating but allwell
