Abandoned, this game had so much potential but the devs gave up.

Ngl, never gave this game a chance until now, I was always under the impression it was just a bloated FPS game, but it ended up being more of a RPG, Throwback Bioshock themed communist POV with a lot of "What If"s thrown in for good measure, and I never realized how much thought went into the sisters, ahem I mean robot sisters. :D

Good game, good game play, it's all I could ask for

Also if you run into a the install game.repair issue, close anything related to the game, go to the local files, and launch the .EXE as admin, and just keep trying, it'll work eventually.

I could give two craps about their use of AI in this game, they created a complete game, and they even said that they only used it to lessen the load on the art team so they can focus more on the good stuff, and you know what I'm talking about lol.

How do I put this, imagine a movie, that is made into a game, but is actually more like a movie, but like in a game, Does that make sense? I mean they nailed the demo, and If I'm positive, this game is literally going to be the best movie experience I'm totally wasn't ready for.

Galactic Getaway isn’t quite what I expected and still feels rough around the edges, with several persistent bugs. It’s technically a partial MMO, similar in concept to Palia: your own planet is a small, private world that others can only enter by invitation, while the hub serves as the shared MMO space. However, in several hours of play, I rarely saw more than 1-3 other players online, which really diminishes the MMO experience.

The core gameplay loop centers on gathering materials, either on your planet or through “Adventures.” Once you run out of resources, you’re required to launch a rocketship to another planet. Unfortunately, these adventure planets are just instanced, walled-off areas filled with materials and creatures—there’s no real exploration or discovery, just resource collection. After gathering, you return to the hub and repeat the cycle. Missions exist, but they’re basic fetch or chore tasks like “Give me 10 apples” or “Water 9 planets,” and don’t feel rewarding or engaging.

The “befriend” system is another letdown. To befriend creatures, you have to choose between options like telling them a joke or insulting them. The insult option lowers your friendship meter, which feels pointless and tacked on. A more interesting system would let players discover what each creature likes and fulfill those desires, with each creature offering unique abilities—like gathering resources or helping the player in specific ways.

Bugs are still a major issue. My character would randomly get stuck for no clear reason, and traveling between zones sometimes caused the camera to lock onto objects, making it impossible to move or open the menu. This forced me to exit the game using Alt+F4, which is especially frustrating.

Multiplayer content is limited to a few mini-games at the rocket and some cosmetic options. I haven’t unlocked everything, but so far, there’s little incentive to keep playing. The game lacks the engaging gameplay loops found in titles like Animal Crossing and doesn’t feel fully developed, even for early access. Without more content and polish, it’s hard to stay motivated for long play sessions.

Overall, Galactic Getaway has potential, but it needs a lot of work to become truly enjoyable.

Areas that need the most attention include:

New player onboarding: Make the introduction more intuitive and welcoming to help new players understand the game’s systems quickly.

UI improvements: Streamline the interface for better usability and a smoother experience.

Adventure zones: Overhaul these areas to add variety, exploration, and meaningful objectives, making them less repetitive and more engaging.

More engaging content: Add new activities, events, and gameplay systems to create deeper, more rewarding loops—such as farming, crafting, or meaningful creature interactions.

Expanded multiplayer features: Increase player capacity in hubs, introduce co-op missions, and add social features to make the MMO aspect feel alive.

Creature companion system: Redesign befriending mechanics so creatures have unique personalities and abilities, making them valuable partners rather than just checklist items.

Performance and bug fixes: Prioritize fixing bugs and optimizing performance to ensure a smoother, frustration-free experience.

Adding these improvements would go a long way toward making Galactic Getaway a more enjoyable and lasting experience.

Stuck in Early Access Hell – Don't Waste Your Time or Money

I've been keeping an eye on Scrap Mechanic for what feels like forever, ever since it hit early access back in 2016. At first, it was this super cool creative sandbox with endless building potential, and I was all in, hoping it'd evolve into something amazing. But here we are, almost 10 years later, and it's still "early access"? Come on, that's just ridiculous. It's like the devs are content to let it sit there gathering dust while we wait for miracles that never come.

The "latest" updates? Yeah, those ones from October and December 2024 were basically just bug fixes and tiny tweaks – nothing that moves the needle. Smoothed out some physics glitches and added a few bits, but where's the real content? The last actual major update was way back on May 7, 2020, when they dropped Survival Mode. That was awesome at the time – added enemies, crafting, a whole world to explore – but that was FIVE YEARS AGO! Since then, it's been radio silence on anything big. Sure, there's been some activity on the test branch a few months back, but why the hell has it taken nearly a decade to get... well, not much further? The game's got so much potential with its building mechanics, but it's wasted if no one's pushing it forward.

The community is pissed, and I get it. Steam forums and reviews are full of people calling it abandoned, complaining about zero communication from Axolot Games. No roadmaps, no timelines, just vague promises. It reminds me of Star Citizen – another perma-EA nightmare where you sink time and money into a black hole. If you're thinking of buying this, do it only if you've got friends to build crazy contraptions with; solo, it's just frustrating if you don't know what you're doing. Otherwise, wait for someone else to come along and do the concept better, because this one's treading water.

5/10 – Great idea, poor execution and even poorer support. Unless they wake up and start delivering, skip it. (My review encompasses the company along with the game)

Edit (8/12/2025): Just popping back to say, don't give these devs your cash yet, wait for them to leave early access then you can buy, because this is one of those games that'll never see the end of EA, and if you do want to get your hands on it, wait for a sale because it's definitely not worth full price for promises.

Just time for me to crash out,

These ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ devs, make a work flow for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ inked bills.

Because otherwise it'll literally INFECT ALL of your stacks, I literally hand ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ washed over 10,000+ bills, and one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ got into it, and all of those 10,000+ bills got ruined, Idk who the ♥♥♥♥ decided that was a good idea, but you better ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ make a work flow for ink, or remove that ♥♥♥♥ entirely.
