Well I did it, I obtained every achievement in Octopath Traveler, meaning I feel versed enough to write a brief review on it.

Firstly, this game is such a good RPG. 8 different stories to experience, there's different biomes to explore, numerous different types of monsters; it's wild how a simple thing such as different weaknesses of enemies can change up the playstyle. Each one of the stories are unique in their own way, but if you pay enough attention you can find small links to each of them which is actually kind of near.

The boost system is a great addition, especially when you need to "break" the enemy with weaknesses, and seeing them break was always satisfying.

It took me about 85 hours to complete my playthrough, and then another 4 to do my solo speedrun for the achievement... but speaking of achievements, some of these are absolutely dumb.

Firstly, play for 100 hours on one save file? I literally just had to leave the game running, why is this a thing? Also, I absolutely detest achievements that require you to find every single item (especially when it's sellable and have no real way to track it in game) so you can't remember if you picked up an item or not. Hidden items, over 700 chests (some only Therion can open). These achievements are a nightmare, and I'm so glad they got rid of a bunch of them for Octopath 2.

All in all, an excellent first RPG for the franchise that I hope continues past the second iteration.
