🏰 KINGDOM COME: DELIVERANCE – An Unforgiving, Authentic Medieval RPG Worth Your Time

🌍 GENERAL – Real Medieval Bohemia
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is special because it feels real. The game is set in early 15th-century Bohemia, shortly before the Hussite Wars, in the area around the Sázava river. This is not a fantasy world. No magic, no dragons, just villages, forests, castles, and people trying to survive.

The world is extremely authentic. Architecture, clothing, social rules, and everyday life feel carefully researched. As someone familiar with Czech history and culture, I truly appreciated how well the game represents this time period. The atmosphere alone makes the game stand out from most RPGs.


📜 STORY – Slow, Grounded, and Detective-Like
The story is strong and well written. It focuses on personal loss, revenge, and finding the truth. Many quests feel like investigations, you search for clues, talk to people, and slowly connect the dots.

The pacing can be very slow, and some quests take much longer than necessary. Still, the game shines in how many ways you can solve problems. You are rarely forced into one solution. You can talk, threaten, sneak, fight, or prepare carefully. Player choice really matters here and makes the story feel personal.


📈 CHARACTER PROGRESSION – You Improve by Living
There is no classic RPG leveling system. You improve your skills by using them. Talking improves speech, wearing nice clothes improves charisma, and acting dangerous improves intimidation.

This system feels natural and immersive. Your character is shaped by actions, not by numbers in menus. Because of this, many quests can be completed in different ways depending on how you play, which strongly supports role-playing.


⚔️ COMBAT – Realistic… and Sometimes Broken
Combat is ambitious but problematic.
When it works, it feels heavy and realistic. When it doesn’t, it feels broken. You hit an enemy, they react, but you cannot land a second hit. Try again, and suddenly the enemy snaps into perfect defense and blocks everything like they just teleported.

Maybe I’m just bad at the game.
But after 200 hours, my opinion did not change.
Combat can be fun, frustrating, and unintentionally funny (sometimes all at once).


🎙️ VOICE ACTING – English Great, Czech Surprisingly Excellent
The English voice acting is high quality and professional. Still, for a Czech game, I really missed Czech dubbing at release and waited before playing.

The fan made Czech dubbing is excellent. Yes, there are a few English lines left, and yes, you can hear that some actors voice multiple characters, but considering this is a fan project, the quality and effort deserve a lot of respect. It adds a lot to immersion! Thanks for that!


🧠 FINAL THOUGHTS
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is not easy, fast, or casual. It demands patience and time. But if you accept its rules, it gives you one of the most immersive historical RPG experiences ever made. It has flaws especially the combat, but its atmosphere, story, and authenticity are unforgettable.

👩 A WOMAN’S LOT
This DLC is very story-focused and slower than the rest of the game. Theresa’s part gives more emotional context to events from the main story and shows the world from a civilian perspective, which is interesting and well done. Johanka’s storyline is more serious and deals with religion, guilt, and morality.
Some parts are strong and memorable, but others feel too long and restrictive. Gameplay options are more limited compared to the main game. Overall, it adds depth to the world, but it’s not a DLC everyone will enjoy.


🏗️ FROM THE ASHES
This DLC was very enjoyable and a great change of pace. Rebuilding and managing your own village feels rewarding and gives the player a sense of responsibility and progress beyond combat and quests.

Unfortunately, it has a lot of unused potential. The number of buildings is very limited, and expansion options are small compared to how much space the game world offers. I expected to build houses, baths, maybe a town square, and fully resettle Skalitz refugees. Instead, many NPCs stay begging in Rattay, and only a few can be invited. Still, despite its limits, this DLC is fun and refreshing.


💘 THE AMOROUS ADVENTURES OF BOLD SIR HANS CAPON
Easily the best and funniest DLC in the game.
This DLC fully embraces humor. The quests are short, well paced, and full of absurd situations. Sir Hans Capon is written perfectly, arrogant, charming, and completely irresponsible. The dialogue is funny, the scenes are memorable, and the DLC never overstays its welcome.

Unlike many long quests in the main game, this DLC respects your time. It knows exactly what it wants to be: a light-hearted comedy in a very serious medieval world. And it succeeds perfectly.


🗡️ BAND OF BASTARDS
A solid DLC focused on combat and a group of rough, morally grey characters. The story is simple but effective, and the group dynamic works well. It feels more like a classic medieval mercenary tale.

While it doesn’t add many new mechanics, it fits the tone of the game and offers enjoyable battles and dialogue. A good DLC, especially for players who like combat-focused content.
