Applaus for the GotY 2025
At long last, Stellar Blade has arrived on PC. I rarely pre-purchase games, especially with how often we get messy ports on launch, but boy am I glad this one turned to be very well optimized. As I went through the settings to turn off motion blur, I saw that the devs have added a neat little "expected VRAM" bar which tells you what you should aim for as you tune the graphics settings. At first, I was concerned about performance after seeing that no matter what I do it says that the 8GB on my old RTX 2080 is not enough, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that all through the epilogue, what all the epic scenes, destructions and the particles, the game did not even stutter once.

The gameplay is something between the souls-like and hack-and-slash genre. There is not stamina mechanic and there are a lot of combos under the skill-tree, but it does not become a mindless button-smashing experience like Devil May Cry series. You still need to pay attention to the enemy attack patterns for the parries and the dodges. Overall, the combat is smooth, challenging and satisfying.

The attention to detail has already blown me away from just playing the game for a few hours (including the demo). For example, the soundtrack's vocal become more pronounced as you enter combat, but when you dive into water they change to a more muffled variant. Hell, they have even added an option in the settings to adjust Eve's ponytail.

And yes, Eve is hot. When I mentioned attention to detail, I really meant it... in every curve, every animation, and every outfit. Finally the spiritual successor to Nier Automata is here.

Now I'll excuse myself to go back and play the game. Until later for a complete review.

I played Getting Over It when it came out and was among the people who actually enjoyed it. I would set some chill music to play, start the game, and try to get over it, over and over again, while thinking about my life choices. I also like to play silly party games with friends. For instance Heave Ho is a blast! Specially drunk.

Now I thought the two would mix well together; a punishing climbing game with co-op, but I was wrong. The frustration of falling down is hypercubed with 4 people. The lack of checkpoints means that you will be doing the same puzzle over and over again (unlike other party games where there's easier progression). It's fun the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time that you fall, but it starts to get annoying for the evening you are spending together. You may find mates who would be into trying this climb out of literal hell with you, but I didn't.

Just enforce the new policy going forward in your new games instead of euthanizing decade-old schit! Do we have to go and purge history based on modern day morals too now?!

Match making code of this game:
While True { print("Joining queue...") (1-2 sec) print("Finding match...") (40-60 sec) print("Match found, Looking for server...") (10-20 sec) print("Server found. Connecting...") (10-20 sec) print("Server connection timed out :( Try again...") }

Update: Matchmaking works fine on my steam deck while above is what I get on my PC on the same network. What the heck?!

Update 2: See comments. Matchmaking has been broken. Games are filled with bots.

A smooth, varied, and engaging roguelite with beautiful pixel animations and character drawings.

Gameplay
The game uses the standard roguelite loop: fight, die, upgrade, repeat. There are four biomes with three stages each and a boss battle at the end. There are enemy types specific to each biome and the difficulty ramps up as you progress. Part of the progression involves the upgrades to character ability and part of it to player knowledge and skills with repeated runs. With defeating enemies, scrapping loot, breaking boxes and barrels you get the "sin" currency, which can be spent to progress in the skill tree once the run is over.

For combat you have a melee weapon in the form of a dagger/sword/spear/hammer which vary in terms of attack speed, and range. You also can equip a spell that consumes mana. There are 3 spell types: fire/ice/arcane with scrolls having different effects such as a fire arrow, or a magic projectile. In the beginning, the spells use a lot of mana which empties quite quickly so their usage is situational, but they become more feasible as you get the magic upgrades in the skill tree. Your main way of dealing damage is through melee, which is not a bad thing since the combat feels pretty smooth. But it reduces the variation you may want between different runs. There is no way to block or parry so your best way of dodging enemy attacks is through dashes and jumps.

The character can also carry a ring and an amulet for bonus effects and the game is quite generous in giving different variants through the run. For all "chests" there is a lewd animation which keeps up the eye candy as you explore the dungeons.

The rooms are randomly generated and connected but after you play a bit you start to recognize very clear patterns. There can be trap/enemy/loot/upgrade/lore rooms along the way until you find the entrance to the next level. There are teleportation crystals in certain locations which makes back-tracking easier. The room layout themselves are pre-determined and there is a limit in e.g. how many trap rooms you'll come across which makes those parts a bit dull in my opinion.

Story
After an initial introduction to the premise of the story in the beginning you will uncover bits and pieces in lore rooms in the dungeon which follows sub-stories in the form of snippets that unlock in your journal. Currently there are 4 biomes and clearing the last indicates there is more content to come in the future.

Animation
The fun interactions are in pixel art and pretty well done. The monsters have a chance to get "seduced" and open for business for scarlet to have her way with them. The main character is into a variety of fetishes so you will see various interactions whether the character is male/female/futa. After seeing each interaction once, it gets unlocked in gallery and can be viewed at any time even though the little minigame for scoring/orgasm is not accessible.

Aside from that there are also special animations in town that can be unlocked by finding certain artifacts in the dungeons in the form of side quests. While it's good to have more things to do in town, the amount of content so far feels underwhelming compared to what you see in the dungeons themselves.

Musics and sounds
Each biome has its own soundtrack which is pretty chill and enjoyable as you grind through the levels. The animations are voiced too, but the audio quality of the moans seems to be lower than other things you hear through the game. Depending on whether scarlet is doing the deed or getting done, you can hear a different voice. There is even a bit of variation among different monsters which is a great touch. The male counterparts do not make noises which I don't think anyone is gonna complain about.

Balance
Once you get all the upgrades the game goes from being challenging to a walk in the park. There are some questionable upgrades on the skill-tree which fundamentally change the difficulty of the game as you progress and unlock them. More health, more mana, more damage feels more like cheating in a rougelite like this. Hell, even the roll mechanic can be upgraded to have a shorter cooldown which directly impacts the game balance.

The bosses do not have much variations in their attacks and most of them are pretty easy to dodge. Most often I found myself struggling with random enemy rooms more than the bosses. But there are some spells which are OP that you can take advantage of in your runs. For example the stun hammer or any weapon that has the stun boost is very powerful considering the long stun durations.

Speaking of spells, there is a seduce scroll that forces any monster into submission if used to knock them out. Combine that with a bunch of "sin gain" bonuses and you can quickly rack up the sin bank to get all the upgrades. The sin gain boost feel kinda broken as you can have +100% on some times, which when combined with the seduction skill makes a single run worth many.

Having the option to speed up the grind is not a bad thing, but once you figure it out, the progress accelerates considerably and you run through the available content in no time. I cleared the first biome after 2 hours, got all the upgrades by the 6th hour and unlocked all achievements in 8 hours. It was a pretty fun 8 hours, but I'm a bit sad that there is no more incentive to play the game. Usually, the run itself is part of the fun in this genre, but little variation in weapons, predictability of enemies, and the lowering difficulty makes it hard to recommend as a rougelite.

Conclusion
Scarlet Maiden is clearly made by people who love and enjoy their craft. The cumbat is smooth, and there is lewdness in every corner and crack, showing great attention to detail. The gameplay feels smooth, but the difficulty is heavily skewed in player's favour. Maybe it's because I'm a sweaty dead cells player, but I hope more attention would be given to balance the challenge and fun in the future. The game is novel and creative and worth its value, specially if the devs continue to expand on the levels, biomes, enemies and animations.

Capoo on steam! What a time to be alive! I have been following the adventures of the bug cat for many years now and couldn't be happier to have little capoos fooling around on my desktop now.

Interactions
You can drag and drop the cats with left click which allows you to toss them around too. The trajectory is predetermined though. It would have been nice if it interacted with the boundaries of the screen though. You can also right click on them to get a little animation varying between annoyed, happy, confused, and surprised. Little capoos ask for food everynow and then which you can provide by clicking on the food bubble. Sometimes they poop, which you can also clean up. With 4 capoos the demand for food and poop cleaning is constant to the point that I'm struggling to finish this review. Nothing bad happens if you don't tend to them.

Progression
There are 30 different versions of capoo which you can unlock over time. In the beginning, every 5 minutes you can smash too capoos together to get a random new one. As you unlock more, the cooldown on getting new variants increases.

Technical aspects
It does take a toll on the CPU which is to be expected for this kind of game. With 6 creatures my 9700k is sitting at 25% and my 2080S is at 20%. It couldn't be better, but not the worst either. (Have you seen the last of us?!)
The music is nice, for 5 minutes... Luckily you can turn it down in the setting while leaving the little capoo noises on.
The game supports dual screen setups and you can configure the capoos to be on top but that option does not seem to do anything for me since they are always on top anyways.

Conclusion
Overall, it's a cute little desktop companion app. Honestly with the current features, it is not worth the asking price, but if you are a big capoo fan go for it.

An orc starts a massage business for monster girls under the supervision of a goblin. It so happens that clients expect naughty services too so the orc provides. The premise is new, the characters are well designed, and the mini-games are fun enough to keep you engaged for a little while, but the game has issues that I hope get ironed out during the early access stage.

Visual style
Cel shaded
Interaction

Yes (no patch required)

Gameplay
Each massage session starts with rubbing the sore spots which is the most engaging part of the game. The amount of work needed is shown by colors ranging from red to green, and you can use fists, fingers, and palms to rub them to customers' satisfaction. There is a bit of thinking needed to make sure you don't overdo it, and get as many of them as possible before your energy runs out. You can get more energy and speed with upgrades as you make more money. And by the time you max out your stats you are pretty overpowered which quickly reduces the difficulty of this part of the game.

After each session you get affinity with the customers, which essentially unlocks next levels of the massage to reach the sex scenes. Stage 2 involves moving your hands around to find sore spots which are indicated by color and beep frequency, and is lot easier in comparison to the first part.

At stage 3, things start to get erotic and you'd be doing a bit of foreplay until the real deal begins. At the 4th stage, you are not limited by energy anymore and you can rotate between different positions and climax as much as you want. There is no other interaction though. You get a lot of affinity by the time you finish, which helps unlock more positions. There are 4 positions per character for the time being.

The problem is that after you have unlocked the sex positions and gotten some upgrades, the first 3 stages become arduous. There is not enough variation or challenge in them to make finishing them rewarding. There is a gallery option though if you want to directly jump to the sex scenes.

And for making money there is a very simple rhythm style mini-game where you massage 4 low-poly randomly generate customers which is maybe fun the first 2 times but gets boring really quickly. Devs have promised more mini-games in the future.

The jank
At what point do you release the new character and sex scenes? As soon as they are ready to ship, or do you wait until the bugs are fixed? It seems like the devs went with the first option, because there is jerking, clipping and strange movement all over the place. The second massage stage is most frustrating since you can't move the camera and it's not clear how the mouse movement is supposed to translate to the body. Not to mention there were a lot of stretchy and snappy fingers flying all over.

These issues also happen in the sex scenes with orc's junk sometime clipping outside the tiny body of the elf. It's difficult to develop these interactions to work perfectly, but there should not be such bugs in the main part of the game. Maybe bulging would solve the issue?

Visuals
The strongest point of this game is character design. All 3 main clients are beautifully crafted, and the short cut-scenes for introduction and affinity upgrades are well done.
In terms of performance, running it at 1440p 144Hz make my 2080S wanna explode. There is an option to lower the frame-rate and at 60 fps it runs pretty good. But I don't understand why a cel-shaded game with such small environments should be demanding.

Conclusion
Adult game development is such a dilemma in spending resources. Do you just focus on the action part to make well-crafted animations and fap material? Or do you try to make an engaging game with the lewds as a bonus? In the end most people cuming to play orc massage want to rub one out after rubbing their clients, so the mini-games become less important, boring, janky, and buggy. But if the sex scenes are all there is to it, why make it a game in the first place and not just an animated series?

I'm a bigger fan of a well developed game with lewd content as a bonus, so I am hoping that in the future more attention would be dedicated to making the game as fun and high quality as the designs and character models.

Divinity: Original Sin is what Larian studio needed to create to reach the level of polish and quality that is presented in D:OS2. This review is coming from someone who played through the sequel first, so if you are in the same boat, then my experience is relevant to you.

Story
(Minor spoiler warning) The game is set in Rivellon before the events of D:OS2. This time you are playing as the hunter, rather than the hunted. In certain aspects the formula is the same. You get thrown into a mess in the beginning and gotta talk to a bunch of people, then realize you are involved in something big, then plot-twist and twist and tada you save the world. However, the delivery is rather predictable and cliche, so don't expect anything mind blowing. The side characters are interesting enough to tag along and the whole setting is engaging enough to keep going til the rather anti-climatic end.

Gameplay
This is where the weakness of the game starts to show. There is no terrain advantage which makes positioning a lot simpler here. Ranged characters often get blocked by invisible barriers around objects. Action point cost for certain setups like dual wielding is too punishing, while it can be very favorable to a ranged glass cannon. Some high-end skills would make more sense as a lower-tier one (e.g. swap characters) and vice versa.

Skill upgrade costs are cumulative, which means you need to invest 5 skill point to get something to level 5. While the game does a good job of balancing it out, it is just unnecessarily complicated. Meanwhile, upgrading some skills like loremaster are completely pointless since you can always identify items with traders and you get enough money from just selling your loot.

Resetting the character is only possible after circa. level 10 and you lose all the skills you have learned if you choose to do so, and you'd need to gather books and relearn them. By the way, there is no memory mechanic and you can use all the skills you have learned. There is just a limit on total skills you have based on your level, e.g. at level 5 pyro you can have 10 different pyro skills. From upgrading a skill to the last level all you get is an additional master skill slot, which is quite underwhelming considering most master skills can be used only once per combat.

I could go on and on, but that should give you an idea that if you have seen the second, you will be annoyed with the first.

Classic RPG or Chore RPG?
Don't get me wrong, I like hearing NPCs talk about their life and learn the lore bit by bit from a lot of conversations and books. There are a lot of interesting side-quests that are not black and white and face you with some thought provoking decisions. But sometimes you are faced with a quest in the beginning of the game that can only be wrapped up much later in the game. Sometimes, you try to talk to every NPC, read every book, and look everywhere but still the next step is not clear. I even had some quests break and become impossible to complete because I did not talk to a certain NPC before exploring. I often found myself looking at guides and wikis, specially in the end when I realized some of the clues are impossible to pick up on during gameplay. Like I have to light some torches for a magic door to open in a cave? what? .

Worth a try
In the end, it is more divinity if you have not been able to scratch that itch after playing D:OS2. While it lacks a lot of the good features introduced in the sequel, it still stands above most competitors. Give it a shot, and if you start to get frustrated with not knowing what to do, look up a guide.

But
No 16:10 support
Given that most screens have a 16:9 aspect ratio the game elements seems to be placed relative to the window size. This messes up how the game look likes on a 16:10 screen. I tested it on steam deck and while playable, some UI elements had flown around. I hope that this gets addressed in a future update. A simple solution could have been to force a 16:9 resolution with black bezels on top and bottom for screens that are different.

No controller support
Playing this adult games with a controller is probably not the priority for most users, but the pin-ball side would definitely work better analogue shoulder buttons for tuning how the flippers move. For playing on steam-deck you'd need to configure your own key-mapping.

Wonky physics
Some of the ball interactions appear to be too bouncy to me and most elements seem to react in more or else the same way. I do not have better words to describe it but the physics are step down from the well known windows pinball game Full Tilt! Pinball.

Maybe
More levels
There are only two levels with the pink/blue one being the main part. I have not played long enough to get to 2nd one, but it does not seems to be as detailed as the first. There is certainty room for expanding the kind of pin-ball machines you can be playing here.

More girls
The ones in the game are cute, but given that the animations are already there, more character models could be added to replace them. Hell they could even have a customizable character creation part which would also added stuff to buy in the shope like pieces of clothing or hairstyles.

More H-scenes
This one doesn't need more explanation :)

In summary
Is it worth 10 bucks? For me it was. I like to see more games like this where there is at least some form of engagement involved. If I wanted to just see some H-scenes and rub one out there are much better stuff out there, for free even. The dev seems to be still caring about this game, so I hope for more updates in the future.
