Paaam paaam peraaaaam. PAAAM PAAAM PERAAAAM.

If you could only buy one game this year, make it this one. Amazing content with over 150 hours of game in the base alone, let along the expansion packs (and they actually are legitimate expansions).
The ending is a little bit slanted towards a certain style of parenting which can leave you feeling aweful if you get the worst ending but that's the only real critisim I can levy against the game.

It's a masterpiece, a unsullied example of excelence in the medium which, IMO, should be held high and exalted as everything a video game should be.
This is the standard to beat. Good luck getting there, anyone who isn't CD Projekt Red.

10/10; would kill myself in a spiral of soul retching, intense guilt, self-loathing and depression again

All that remains of my computer is a charred husk of its former self.
10/10, would burn-out my GPU for achievements again.

So. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Meta.
I'm not even joking, this is a game which will make your seriously think about the nature of choice and guidance. The game design and theory (deadly serious about that, this game owns on so many levels: look into immersive theatre and Punchdrunks work), it's absolute chef kisses. If you have the money, buy it. If you don't, walk into a local coffee shop somewhere and declare your undying need to play this game - a hipster (hello) will rise to help a brother out.

Really, we're obliged. There's a pact during the credits sequence.

So. Much. Yes.
The art style of this game is absolutly amazing, even more so as everything in the game was laboriously hand painted and it shows. Sweet mother of all things beautiful it shows. The narrator just adds so much to it as well, the comments he makes based on what you're doing when playing are just so well done. This is indie gaming done right!
Awsome game, I highly reccomend it!

Everything about this film is thought out well.
The framing is excellent, the progression of the devs stories are well thought out and most importantly, you feel like you're part of their plight. It gives you a greater appreciation of the process Indie devs go through in the creation of their games and really emphasises that it's not about the money, it's about the love of the craft. Sucess is the side-effect of their passion.
Absolutly love it, I completely recommend it to anyone who considers themselves a gamer, this is as essential as your Half Life collection.

It's nice to see a mainstream game that dosn't encourage mindless violence and actually makes you try to avoid conflict.
Excellent stuff, absolutly love it.

JOY PUKE. ALL OVER THE PLACE.

edit: 10 years later and it stands up - well, the combat does, the minute to minute dialogue is kind of what you would expect from a meme-riddled teenage power fantasy but they land the larger moments; or maybe I just spent a lot of time playing Borderlands (1) and was already nostalgic for the characters in 2013. I guess my original review is a pretty good yardstick for where I was at with all that jazz.

Anyway.

It's a lot of fun to just find a groove and flow with it - it's a fun, no thoughts game. I've always played solo (my net speeds were garbage back then) but it's still fun solo. Doing a playthrough now in Ultimate Vault Hunter mode which is... honestly quite challenging as a solo Zer0, but rewarding. Some maps are absolute slogs that almost become RNG if a ultimate badass enemy (again, this is a 2013 lol-random meme game) pops in and absolutely roadblock any kind of forward progression. Not to mention you can't backtrack to get more ammo because zones behind you have respawned and lo, all your hard fought for progress (and money lost to respawns) would be lost.
I guess that's not a bad problem for an endgame - that it's crushingly hard - but sometimes the deaths can feel a bit cheap.

Anyway - I'm back playing this thing 10 years later and having a lot of fun with it! Not many games in my library can claim that kind of longevity, so GG.
Would recommend.

Trying to find the words to describe the isolated yet unabounding beauty of this game... I'll be looking for a while...

I'll openly admit I love this game, have from the get-go. The storytelling is absolutly sublime and i cannot fault it
