Those who view this software are likely familier with Blender, outside of Steam. A lot of 3d model artists prefer sticking to their downloaded version. Personally, I resort to updating Blender as soon as I see it, on the web. Although, when you install Blender via Steam, the updates will automatically come in when Steam receives it from Blender.

Basically, what I am saying is that this is a good idea if you prefer keeping Blender up to date as possible. I personally do that, so I tip my hat to Steam. This is a great idea for those.

As far as the software itself, we all know that Blender is a 3d modeling freeware. I find this great for being free and open source. Of course there's alternatives such as 3ds Max by Autodesk and so on. But again this is the best free alternative, to the majority of 3d model artists. In a metaphorical phrase, Blender is the GIMP of 3d modeling. GIMP is a free alternative to Photoshop, but that's another matter. Just a comparison is what I intended when refering to GIMP.
