Early Access Review
This reeks of every other early access scam in Steams long history: Overstate the scope, make vague goals, then deliver a bag of sh|t while trickling out "updates" to string customers along. I'm done with the "Oh, but it's just one developer so we should give them a break..." That is no excuse for selling a half-assed product for FIVE YEARS.

This game is a half-baked asset flip that looks like it's from 2008. Five years of development and there's maybe 2-4 hrs of content, which consists of taking pictures of tornadoes for XP. That's it. Yes, you can upgrade your gear so you get more xp,...but that's it. There is no "end goal", except to get more xp, and that's it. That would be acceptable if the actual gameplay was fun and entertaining, but just becomes a chore. There's no cool destruction physics to look at, there's no "side missions" like helping your friends; it's literally "go here, take pictures, repeat".

Tons of bugs and "rough edges" that make an initially fun experience a drag; i.e. basic sh|t like animations that are still placeholders. The camera bugs out if you get sucked up by a tornado just spins on the ground making you sick. Buggy "physics" that flips cars when you hit a speed bump, yet if your car gets sucked into a tornado, it just just spins on the ground like a top. There is supposedly tornado destruction, but I've yet to see it. I guess the tornado has to be a certain class before it causes damage, but even the fences, trees, and telephone polls were unscathed after an EF2. It makes literally no sense, and isn't any fun at all.

Game updates seem to happen in spurts, with the last batch up updates happening six months ago. Is the dev treating this as a part-time job, or as a "side hustle"?? I'd say it feels more like a hobby that the dev is getting paid to do.

IDK how this game has such a high rating, when it's well below average; but people are easily entertained by mediocrity. Do not buy, or at the very least wait for a sale under $5. Sorry to be so mean, but I'm sick of these "dumpster bin" games that charge $20+, and then they tack on "Early Access" as if there will ever be a complete game underneath a pile of trash.

Buy some development courses and hire some competent help with my $20, instead of using it to fund your hobby.

A tactical SWAT style game with excellent story and attention to detail. Plenty of content and challenges to stay interested for many hours. Repeating missions never plays the same twice, as the AI can actually seem 'intelligent', depending on the difficulty and the mission. They will react to sounds, peek doors and hallways, suppress and flank your position, hide in rooms/closets, etc. Basically you're guaranteed to get jumpscared at some point, and you will get that adrenaline rush when you know someone is around the corner waiting.

Sounds and the soundtrack are amazing, and it really gets your blood pumping when the dynamic music picks up during combat. Visuals are also amazing, with incredible detail in the environments and locations to make it feel authentic. One drawback IMO is that maybe 50% is destructive/reactive environments. Not all props objects, lights, etc. will react to bullets or explosions, so it feels a little more 'dull' but most players probably won't notice.

If you liked the old SWAT series, or tactical FPS games in general, then this is a must-buy! 9/10

It's hard to recommend the game, mainly because my save files got corrupted after playing ~3/4 of the game, and the game would freeze/crash when I tried to load one. The setting, story, sound, graphics, gameplay all seemed pretty solid from what I saw, but I rage quit after this happened, and never finished it. I'm guessing this isn't a common issue as I couldn't find any info about people with similar problems.
That being said, my main problem that sticks out is the RNG seed combat that plagues TBS games. After several hours of gameplay and story progression, I started to notice my attacks missing more and more, while enemies seemed to get more and more hits (just like XCOM). It feels like an artificial way to make AI "harder" is to rig the RNG system in their favor, and I HATE that; which was the main reasons I stopped playing XCOM as well.
Overall if you like TBS games and know how to cheeze the RNG combat system, or if you don't care about mindless trial and error runs that eat up time, there's definitely a game here. If you don't want feel like your progressing backwards as you progress thru the game, and don't want to leave each battle up to RNG, then I can't recommend (or wait for a sale).

7/10 - Pros: Great story, music, characters, levels, and concept. Cons: If you don't like RNG combat a la XCOM, steer away.

Early Access Review
Awesome old-school Ghost Recon vibes, seamless lobbies (once you die you can swap between spectate and "base" where you customize your kit), detailed weapon customization, animations look/feel good, overall seems like a really good base to expand on. The devs are former Ghost Recon/Rainbow 6 devs, so if you liked those original games, then this should def be in your library. Can't wait to see where this goes!

Here's a gist of the game: click fetch grind, click fetch grind, click fetch grind, click fetch grind gain level, click fetch grind, click fetch grind, click fetch grind, click fetch grind gain level, click fetch grind, click fetch grind, click fetch grind....
They had to make extremely boring and tedious tasks to justify the extremely long progression times. Some quests have you literally going back and fourth between the same two or three people over and over and over until it completes. Absolutely pointless GRIND, and boring af. You will waste your life playing this game, and gain NOTHING.

A very good visual/modern update to a classic RTS. High-res textures, camera zoom, awesome remastered soundtrack, GUI updates, map editor, and a few QoL improvements.
However, there was zero improvement to AI/pathfinding. Big groups of units will still bunch up at chokepoints, use insane/suicidal alternate paths, and need to be constantly babysat as you spam "move/attack here". Be prepared to lose units constantly b/c they refuse to fire at an enemy that is within range (putting them on "guard" duty helps a little).
Still, it is great addicting fun, stable, and an awesome soundtrack. 8/10

One of a few extremely well thought out and designed survival game. Lots of attention to detail and realism, but it also has a very artistic style that keeps it unique and interesting. Days are short, nights are long, and the wolves are everywhere.
Most types resources are limited, and the longer you stay in an area, the fewer resources will be available; and everything takes time to craft, This creates a fantastic balance of having to explore for supplies, but at the same time having to plan your route(s) in case you get caught in a blizzard, or it gets dark. Think of most indoor areas as "pit stops" where you can shelter and stash supplies while you're roaming the frozen lands.
The game doesn't hold your hand, although you can choose easier difficulties that won't bog you down right at the start. There's a story mode "Wintermute", there's a free-play survival mode, and there's several challenges that require you to do certain tasks.
If you like challenging survival games also with a story mode) in a unique art style and setting, TLD is an excellent choice.
