I love this game. I absolutely love this game. But I am soooo livid at the stupid progression locks early in it.

I want to join my low rank, new player friends at this game, with an equally low rank character (To preserve balance, and keep it fun). But every time I try, I end up out of sync with their quests and am forced to bugger off to do them, when I just want to be playing the game with my friends.

Progression locks in a game like this should be the 8th cardinal sin. Or 10th, after "Talking in the cinema", and "Avengers: Endgame Spoilers"

Look. I love this game. I really do. Learning the levels, completing the challenges, optimizing my route, improving my time... I love it, and there's plenty more playtime in it for me. But... Not everyone is like me. Barely any are, in my experience. and if you're not sure you are, then there's a good chance you won't get the playtime out of it to justify the cost.

For $30NZD? Sure, I'll run down the street praising this game, begging everyone to buy it. But... $105NZD? No. Sure, that's about normal for a AAA console game, but this is Steam. I could list 5 of my favourite Indie games, and they'd total less than that.

But... And this is something I really do praise IO Interactive on, there is a good way to give this game a proper try for much less: HITMAN™, the 2016 predecessor to this game. If you own the first season, or any of the maps... You can, at least as of the moment I'm writing this, play those in HITMAN™ 2. EVEN in the absolutely free Starter Edition.

The first map included in the Starter Edition, Hawke's Bay is a nice shout out to my home country of New Zealand, but it's barely more than a tutorial. You won't really get to experience the modern HITMAN games. So, what I suggest, unless you know for certain you'll enjoy the heck of out, is to wait until there's a decent special, and get some of the episodes from HITMAN™ season 1 on special.

I personally recommend Episodes 1 and 2, Paris and Sapienza. Two maps I've played upwards of 30 hours in over both HITMAN and HITMAN 2. Sapienza especially is where I really started to enjoy the game.

But until the price drops like a brick, I could never recommend this to anyone but the biggest fans of HITMAN™.

Great concept, great execution...

But a limit of 2,800 scrap can be received from games every week?

Seriously?

I can hit that in 2 days.

I can overlook unbalanced matchmaking, but I can't overlook it when the game tells me to stop farming for the next 5 days.
