Excellent game if you're into programming and/or logic. If you dislike logic puzzles or similar, though, give this a pass.

A bit difficult, but entertaining!

Awesome, moving game, though a touch short and not what I expected. (...well, I didn't have specific expectations, but it was still unexpected).
But great game, highly recommend!

More niche and less accessable than Paradox's newer Grand Strategy Games, but still very solid and has good replayability. Getting the two expansions (A House Divided and Heart of Darkness) are a MUST. Variety of good mods, I'd recommend HPM, but only after you've played enough to understand the game fairly well.

Watch CallmeEzekiel's guides for Vic 2, they're short, funny, and easily understood.

Great game; very fun. However, needs *some* optimizations for making it run smoother late-game. But overall? Great game!

The most recent update made the game unlaunchable. (Hit play in steam, launcher opens, click play in launcher, error about being unable to do the screen resolution stuff.)

Awesome game, tons of fun. Paradox Interactive puts plenty of work into this.
I'm now on 3.1.2 to finish a playthrough, and have most DLC. (I lack the Necroids and Aquatic species packs, and I do not have the Nemesis expansion, in part cause I don't want the AI having the option to try to become the crisis.)

Addmitedly, I'm not that fond of the v2.0 and higher, but the last version pre-2.0.x is awesome and post-2.0 versions are still worth playing.
Additionally, I do have all of the DLC that works for pre-2.0 versions, and would say that they are worthwhile - plenty of effort put into them, and generally well-made. (Although yes, you should wait for a sale before buying them.)

Update: I have embraced 2.0+. Currently on 2.3.3 to finish a playthrough. Now own all DLC prior to Necroid Species Pack, with all but Federations enabled.

This is a great game, and I would certainly recommend it.

However, I have a bug to report, and can't quickly find where else to do it, so...
When I've been playing, the game audio has repeatedly stopped working. My headphones work, my speakers work, even my recording software can still record my voice, but the game audio stops playing and the recording software, when I check by opening the accompanying .wav file in Audacity afterward, picks up NO AUDIO from the game. Me, if I'm recording my voice during that time? Yeah. The game? Nada.
