Fireteam game where devs weren't smart enough to figure out how to get a fireteam (4+ players) to work with their networking code.

Almost zero content, only 4 levels in the base game. Should have had like 30 levels MINIMUM. The expansion adds in like one level, definitely not worth the $$$.

If the game is like 80-90% off its a good deal, but you wont be able to play with your full squad, someone will ALWAYS have to sit out of EVERY SINGLE level.

Also because the game only has like 4 levels, even with the expansion, the game only has like 14 hours of content MAX. Basically, buy this on sale, and play with only two of your friends for a single day, and then never play it again.

It's yet another MMORPG. This one is a lot of fun, with a serviceable storyline (not as good as TSW or SWTOR, more like FFXIV), good lore, and lots to do every day.

Great guild system. PvP is optional, but there's plenty of opportunity for it (if that's your thing). Works great with controller or KB&M. The combat system isn't as good as BDO, but its better than more other MMORPGs.

No sign of any bugs (other than the Amitoi expedition which was fixed first day).

There are some localization/translation errors (missing dub or korean dub over english in a couple cutscenes). The english dubs are shockingly good compared to other localizations. Original Korean is still best, but if you're not into subtitles, you really wont mind the english voices, except for possibly this one little boy/girl who is obviously being voiced by an old hag, and this one guild leader in mid-game who is trying WAY to hard, like he's on an 80s cartoon.

The Secret World meets Survival Crafting meets Pal World.

A looter-shooter with world bosses, dungeons, storyline, lots of weapon & armor customization, interesting events and responsive devs.

Yes, there's a couple of bugs here and there, but there's too much fun being had to worry about the little things.

Never has a game risen so high, only to fall so far.

The devs are actively trying to crash and burn this title into the ground, and players are being driven away in droves.

Their playing numbers are crashing, and Ill be shocked if anyone is playing this a year from now, and even more shocked if anyone even remembers this game 2 years from now.

If you're an old school RPG gamer, this is a must buy, must play. The game has some very minor issues, but that's absolutely superseded by the rich story and gameplay.

Do you remember crossing the Sea of Mermaids with Feena in Grandia? The sense of adventure when flying Flammie for the first time in Secret of Mana, or when the Sprite finds that their entire village was destroyed? What about that time Robo got beaten up by his friends in Chronotrigger? When you find out about the other world in Tales of Symphonia? When you finally got to reunite with your family in DQV Hand of the Heavenly Bride? What about when your party broke out of the simulation in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time?

This game will not only bring back that sense of high adventure, interesting characters, and storytelling you remember from the good old days, but it presents it with the unique trapping of Chinese Wuxia fantasy. Its a beautiful classic tale, one of loss, love, family, camaraderie, betrayal, reversals, surprises, and destiny. Some parts of which you may experience differently depending on your choices and encounters (allowing for replayability).

There were initially some issues with the game that have been largely taken care of by both bug fixes and QoL (quality of life) improvements since release.

I played this game with both KB&M and Controller. While I usually prefer KB&M, I wanted to play this on my large TV with a controller to capture that old-school saturday morning feel and it worked great with my 8bitdo. KB&M is definitely a better experience, but its totally enjoyable with controller, just not as good, such as when you need to do lots of inventory management in succession.

There were a couple bugs, such as the steps not being smooth in the Shaolin temple, and sometimes when you're trying to rest at an inn that charges money, it may bug out and not allow you to rest at any inn, and you either have to restart or rest in your home village or Luo Village (for free). (This bug usually started for me when I'd try to rest in Gusu outside of Mingjian Manor and would bug out the other Inns). The game also doesn't give you an audible notification when you use an item. Also, when you use/learn a food recipe from your inventory, it forgets to give you even a visual notification, so you sometimes feel like it didn't work (but it did), even though you do get text feedback when you use other items like Meridian pills.

These are extremely minor issues in the grand scheme of things, but it would be nice for them to fix.

There's a hundred good things I could talk about, but you only really need to know that this game was clearly crafted with love, and if you are a real OG RPG fan, then you should play this.

Edit: Just wanted to add that despite already feeling like a completed game, the devs have added a roadmap and are adding more content, features, and QoL features. While I don't agree with some (such as fast travel being added), the game overall is only getting better in terms of the gameplay experience.

TLDR; Suffers from devs concentrating far too little on the single-player experience, and too much on PvP. Worth the $20 for a one-time playthrough with a friend in co-op.

The game on single-player loses almost all its charm after ~30 hours, PvE Co-op after ~50 hours. Its EXTREMELY linear in terms of progression. Basically its fun on your very first playthrough, but has zero replayability (even in PvE co-op with friends). PvP suffers from same issues as other survival games.

Would REALLY benefit from some random/scripted events, rewarding players for exploring (e.g., finding secret crypts with interesting loot or lore), uncraftable weapons/armor that drop from combat (and unique ones from bosses), cutscenes (e.g., basic quick and dirty storyline cutscenes), being able to talk to friendly NPCs (e.g., maybe a friendly werewolf who can give a mission or an old vampire that can talk about "the good old days"), or even ability to talk to regular NPCs and find out information about bosses when disguised in Human Form. Instead of wandering shopkeepers, maybe put them in an actual building, behind a counter and make it feel more RPGish like they did with Ottar the Brighthaven shopkeep.

I recommend if you do play, play with a friend, and play on a PvE server that has at least a couple other people logged on consistently. Or if you like Survival PvP, a full-blown heavily populated PvP server with full looting, etc.

I should note that I'm still playing the game with a friend, and that if devs fix some of these issues and stick to their promises on upcoming content, I'll almost definitely change this to a thumbs up recommendation. Also I have played more hours than steam is stating as I played in single-player without steam running.

Game-breaking movement problem where you cannot move forward while turning your head. There is NO SETTING TO FIX THIS. Other than that, very cool, basically Phantasy Star Online VR. Too bad its unplayable with this "feature".

Absolutely a must buy. Even so I give this 7/10. After you complete the intro you will unlock the "mission lobby" where you can meet other players, take missions, mod your weapons, mod your loadout, etc.

CONs:

- no story
- no bHaptics feedback support (guys, get your act together, it takes like an hour to do this, at least for when you get 'picked up' by the big snowbies or when you get hit or are in an explosion please, for bonus points, add rumble for elevators, lifts, vehicles, etc.)
- you can't choose your avatar (wth not?)
- tutorial is insufficient (like not explaining that you can store your weapon and change loadouts prior to starting a mission, or how the loot boxes work, or why collecting the floppy disks is important, or how there is an in-game menu)
- no single player mode, forced team-combat, so this is basically a team-combat game
- AI voices even if a real player is playing that character (major nono)
- Very little content (only like 4 missions currently, however, I believe more will be added with the first season for free)

PROs:

- variety of enemies and boss fights
- sense of accomplishment and progression
- looks and feels great (lots of improvements from Arizona Sunshine)
- roguish (normally I despise rogue-likes, but having things be a bit different on each run through is a really nice touch in this game)

Couple of bugs:

o There is a chance that your entire fireteam will not be loaded back into the same lobby when you return to "the hub", so you won't be able to hear each other over VOIP. Fix this by having players in a fireteam be summoned to the same lobby instance as the teamleader. Also, have players be summoned to same lobby after accepting a team invite as well.

o You are able to enter a mission with ZERO weapons if you accidentally place all your weapons on the rack prior to start.

o One time I entered a mission with only one of my firearms, even though I was equipped with two prior to starting a mission (Only happened once though)

o It is possible for another player to accidentally be added to your fireteam when you start if you don't have at least two other people in your crew. Not really sure how this happened, not really a big deal, better than having an AI player.

Overall, despite some major flaws and badly needed additions or changes, this game was very stable, looks good, plays smoothly 95% of the time, and was lots of fun. Plan on putting in many more hours. In fact, probably going to go back to wired from wireless since I hate having to take a break to re-juice my charger.

Wow! What a rush!

Now, I only really played through the campaign in multiplayer, and I would suggest that the best way to play through this is all in one go.

This is more of a narrative-driven storyline, as you go from valleys, towns, stations, FEMA camps, all the way to the end. Also, as someone who lived in Arizona it definitely has that feel to it.

The combat is crisp, with multiple types of firearms that do feel different from one another. The game uses a modified version of the standard belt inventory system that is common in VR games.

The way the save-system works is that you basically unlock areas when you reach them and can return to that area when you restart your game or start a multiplayer game.

While it can be played sitting, it was waaay better in a large open space walking around, to more realistically open cabinets, dressers, fridges, doors, trunks, cars, etc.

When you're with another player, while you can't be *too* far from one another, it is possible to be in different rooms, on different floors, in different buildings (that are close).

The ending is great by the way, and I can't wait to check out the DLC/extra stories.

I really can't recommend this game enough.

Not only does the game fill almost every need you could have as an RPG or crafting, or siege warfare, or exploration, or building, or survival game, it also continues to be improved by Funcom shockingly enough.

QoL improvement continue to be released (although there are still some frustrations like having the same key for inventory access and mounting), some even based off of popular mods (iron sickle anyone?)

As for the modding community, it has pulled off some really amazing things, with some private servers (and there are thousands and thousands of them) even being nearly TCMs.

Speaking of private servers, for your offline solo game, there's also drop-in Co-op support so you can quickly help your friend out with a dungeon or they can come check out your latest base, you don't even need to spin up a server.

Since you can direct connect, there's essentially LAN support with your own server, no need for Internet access at all.

What's really amazing is the subtle storyline and lore. For those that dare to explore off the beaten path into the dark recesses of these savage lands, you can sometimes come away with nothing, but other times be RICHLY rewarded in the most pleasing way!

Even after a thousand hours (you can't see nearly even half my playing time with my steam record) I STILL find awesome surprises.

Also, as someone who usually plays PvE and stays away from PvP in most games, this time I heartily recommend PvP. It adds another dimension to your playthrough that you absolutely don't want to miss out on.

Just buy this game now, don't worry about a sale, and enjoy one of the greatest adventures of your life.
