Now that I have had the chance to play the game, gotten an artian and all the stuff in HR I can still say that this game is just *wildly* dissappointing. The entire game feels braindead easy and handholds you so much through the entire story that it feels like you aren't even playing the game. The story is horrendous and LR is basically an excruciatingly painful 15 hour tutorial. Once you reach HR there's maybe 10 hours of content and then you're done with the game.
I have absolutely 0 want to play this game because it just feels boring and like a waste of time. The game has no substance is how I'd describe it.

Graphically the game also looks rather bad imo ignoring the horrendous performance. All the colours look washed out and dull and there's this "pixellated fog" which makes everything look fuzzy and low quality. Lowering settings often doesn't visually change too much but also doesn't improve performance, the game also basically relies on DLSS to run at any framerate making it look EVEN worse.

It's a shame because it seems like the game has potential in a lot of things but it's been squandered by sloptimisation and an attempt to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

I'd give it a 5/10 at best in its current state.

I simply have to make a review for this game. A friend of mine who really loves this series bought the game for me and I haven't been able to play it for a single hour without it crashing.

I have a 3070ti and an 11600K, the game runs at about 60fps with framegen and changing settings really doesn't change much. The optimisation is absolutely horrendous and it feels gross for this game to cost so much but not even function.

The game has recently crashed for me and everytime I launch it now it does the shader "optimisation" and then stays on a black screen forever. It is currently literally unplayable for me.
I sent in a bug-report (which has an absolutely obtuse amount of requirements which I believe are inentionally there to hinder your bug reporting) and we will see if anything happens.

It's a shame because the little amount of gameplay I did manage to get was actually fun but the sloptimisation is an actual joke.

As it stands currently this game is effectively a scam and Capcom should be ashamed of themselves. Don't defend this company, stop eating ♥♥♥♥♥. By defending them you will only ever get worse games in the future. That is the problem with modern gaming.

As of today (28.02.2025) Valve still seems to be dealing with the bots so I'll give it a thumbs up, this game is legendary and I really wish Valve would give it a bit more love.



(As of 09.07.2024 Valve is working against the bots and the game is currently almost bot free. I will keep this review up as it is until we see that they continue fighting the bot problem.)

This is one of my favourite games of all time but the state it is currently in is completely unacceptable. Valve has shown that they don't care about this iconic game or its ridiculously loyal fanbase. I've been playing this game for over a decade now and want it to at least be in a PLAYABLE STATE.
Valve has also shown its disregard for their old fans with what they did to CSGO.
We need to push back against their crap and we can only hope that they get their stuff together and fix this.
WE NEED BOTS GONE, BOT HOSTERS GONE.

Absolute nostalgia. This game is the pinnacle of nostalgia. Shame that it remains a forgotten relic in steam history.

I've had this game for the better part of a decade and it really makes me sad that is being killed now in such a disgraceful way.

The game has always had its problems but has also always been a casual fun experience. Very sad to see it and I'm only giving a negative review to hopefully send a message to the bastards that are the devs.

A final goodbye to the years of fun and all of the players who allowed for it. ;)

The origin of many a great game.

This whole series is just one of the G.O.A.T of gaming.

Game used to be good and was a fun simple western shooter on the source engine with that classic charm.

This was until recently when the developer decided to remove many key features like walking and crouch-jumping in favour of new and non-functional slide and wall-jump mechanics. Stationary weapons have also been added to the game which ruin the gameplay cycle very often and the game is steadily going downhill.

The dev seems to be scared of criticism and does whatever he likes no matter what it will do to the game. The game is on a steady path to it's death and we can only hope that the dev gets some sense or leaves the project to someone else to deal with it way better than he has.

I personally don't see much hope for this game anymore but hope it falls into better hands.

(The dev banned me from the community discussions area after posting a silly post stating that the new movement was bad and that the dev's decisions are bad)

(I have also been playing the game for a long time and seen its ups and downs. Sadly I don't see any ups from here on out if the dev stays as he is)

Hard but fun.
Simple yet hard to master.

It's a money grab with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dev team. Game is full of bugs and they probably won't be fixed.

Play it if you like but don't spend money in it.
