As of two days in pre-release, I am extremely frustrated with the campaign in its current state.

Basic features that have been staples to RTS since Brood War are missing. Checkpoints, save/load, an option to 'Restart Mission' are missing. The option to pause works, but only when no one is speaking. The dialogue is thematic, but drags on too long. An important aspect missing explanation from the tutorial, is that you have a finite number of units per mission, and once they're dead, that's it, so if you don't know exactly who to deploy, and where to put them, they will quickly evaporate and that's game over, enjoy listening to the same video and dialogue every time you restart the mission from the main menu. Prepare for a difficulty spike, instead of a curve. Mission 1 puts you in a scenario that other RTSs' would save for the final encounter.

My biggest complaint is the current state of balance. Enemy Mechanized Infantry (MI) will be the bane of your existence. They kill infantry and vehicles almost instantly, and on normal difficulty, two MI units can beat three fortified ranger units, supported by mortar fire. The state of AI balance is egregious, enemy units do not die, even while exposed, pinned, shocked, panicked and down to the last man, they will still return fire and kill your units from full health.

Don't know if the devs will read this, but I must express my profound disappointment. This is just me, but I come from a generation where you play the campaign first, to hone your understanding of units and mechanics, and then the training wheels come off for multiplayer. The campaign must be polished to a mirror shine, it is the highlight of my purchase, and its current state, I find it to be completely unplayable, so automatically, I will assume the rest of the game and modes are also unplayable.

I'll come back in a little while, but currently, I am very disappointed with my purchase.

Arrowhead has come a long way with Helldivers 2. It's seen many changes and updates. It's been through numerous ups and downs with the community, but overall, it has been well worth the $40. It has a reasonable model, a live service system that isn't slop, and constant updates. Solo or squad based gameplay is solid and responsive. Progression feels rewarding, a grind, but not a slog. Few games do cooperative so well.

Noita is a Mage Death Simulator, rougelike, manic, and fun.

The mechanics are surprisingly deep, and runs will often end messy and explosive.

I think the base game is a bit lacking on some critical features being available from the start. Perks are available to add these functions, but the overall experience lacks without the use of a couple QoL mods. Big thanks to the Steam Community for some crucial ones.

I'm still dissatisfied with the lack of explanation of the core wand mechanics, trial and error will be how you finally find a set that works for you. Hopefully you can keep it long enough to have some fun before you meet your next bloody, melty, crispy end.

The weapon customization is pretty good.
DMZ mode isn't a Tarkov clone, and can stand pretty well on it's own, still could use a lot of balancing, and maybe some solo lobbies.

If you're getting into the game at this point, you'll struggle against every single person in the lobby having the meta builds for guns while you have almost nothing.
It's the new CoD. No one WANTS to buy it, most people do, because its the new one, and that's where the community is.

The story is pretty good, some real visceral moments, not sure where the "disturbing content" is supposed to be. It creates some plot holes with the first MW2.

Early Access Review
I've seen this title grow and progress for a very long time, and I honestly can't say if it will ever leave Alpha. I've always had a good time with it though, and seeing all the additions it has had over the years, keeps me coming back at every update.

Pros:
Lots of exploration. Worlds are rife with mini-dungeons or P.O.I.s (points of interest) that are cleverly designed and will offer lots of surprises and rewards with those daring enough to venture within.
Extensive progression. RPG style skill trees favor to all kinds of play styles, whether you want to focus one one role or all of them.

Cons:
Clunky game play. Movement, combat and AI feels very rigid within the world. Animations aren't graceful and characters lack a feeling of "life" (even the living ones).

Buy this game at your own risk. Regardless of your choices, it will only leave you angry.
