Okay, so this game is REALLY unique and cool. You play as a recently-deceased man who has passed onto the afterlife, and is reliving broken memories of his life in the form of a card game, played against a mysterious hooded figure known only as "The Dealer." The game's cards correspond to various memories of the man's life; trials he may have endured, enemies he may have faced, and the items and powers he may have wielded to vanquish his foes. Don't be fooled, though; this is definitely NOT a card game. It is more like a text-based choose-your-own-story adventure game, interspersed with hack-'n-slash combat encounters. The cards you possess on the table manifest themselves as equipment and abilities in the combat portions of the game, which are crucial to being able to take on the enemies you will face.

The combat encounters will seem very familiar to anyone who has played the Assassin's Creed or Witcher games. The flow of combat follows the same attack/dodge/counter system that players will recongize from those titles. The real brilliance of the game comes from the sheer replayability. You're dead, after all, so the Dealer is perfectly content to sit at the table and play cards with you for the rest of eternity, and once you get the hang of the game, you might be, too. Matches take the form of multi-level dungeons, the floorplans of which are laid out face-down on the table, using a mixture of cards chosen by you, and by the Dealer. As you win matches, the dungeons become longer, harder, and more complex, but always different. Winning matches will earn you new cards, which equate to new weapons and armor, stronger powers, and even persistent quest-lines that you can explore or replay over the course of multiple matches. As you become more skilled, though, the Dealer will become increasingly frustrated with your success, and throw even harder obstacles in your way. Despite there being only one fully voiced character in the game, the Dealer's voice acting, model, and animations are rich and full of character, and you may even find yourself reveling in your rivalry as much as he does. Overall, this game is a solidly designed, well-polished, and unique experience that any mortal would be pleased to devote the rest of eternity to.
