I've supported this game for the past 3 years on patreon and have been in the community for it since the start of me supporting it, I played the early builds and now getting to play the game release on steam has been a true joy.

The game as a whole feels like a fever dream at times and I wouldn't ask for anything else.

Thank you Shod, Snake, and the rest of the team at Ninth Exodus and the plethora of contributors for getting this game out here to the world, it's a breath of fresh air. <3

Overly greedy higher ups that want nothing but money so they rush a game out the doors as fast as possible so it can make its big profit week 1, basically kill support for it day one, then release DLCs, I hate the modern game industry so much.

I want to write this review right after I finished, with the tears still rolling down my face from the ugly crying I did from the end, I wanna say this first and foremost, I held off on buying this because I knew it would hurt, I wasn't spoiled, and I won't spoil anything here;

The story of Alex is one I can personally relate to in a not so identical but "I get it" type of way, Struggling to understand what is wrong with you and dealing with the struggles of not knowing how to tell people what is going on out of fear of being judged or abandoned really struck a chord in me, the feeling of just being a different person in a world that just doesn't understand or doesn't want to understand is a feeling that once you feel in your life once, you never forget it;

This game and it's story didn't hit me like Life is Strange 1 and Before the Storm did, instead it hit me an entirely different way, Max and Chloe's stories in those games hit me as if I'm just an on-looker, but True Colors not only hit me from the on-looker point of view, it hit me deep, deep down in a place that very few pieces of media have ever hit, And yeah, I know, It's not for everyone, a story of a 21~ year old neurodivergent woman who is just struggling with the world around her isn't gonna hit the same for everyone, but hey you never know, might as well give it a try if it sounds interesting.

I'm normally not one for colony sims, because I tend to suck at them, but this one has rats, so I had to know I had to play it, come to find out, I spent over 6 hours in a save already, and have been doing fairly ok, I am playing on easy so its nothing crazy, but I genuinely have been enjoying my time and I think this is a great game for people like me that tend to be afraid/weary of colony sims/city builders.

I went into this knowing absolutely nothing, I just saw it was a mystery game and I do love me a good mystery so I bought it, expecting something akin to LA Noire or Obra Dinn, ended up with something that hurt my little queer heart and made me burst out in tears, I highly recommend this game, it not only is a great mystery game, but it pulled emotion from me so I love it!


Some Minor spoilers, The story is about lesbians and it being set in the 1950s, surprise surprise they have to hide their love, even though this game was made in modern day, it just reminds me that people had to live like this back then, had to hide their love because it was not the socially accepted and they were punished for just loving someone, The game even pokes fun at the classic "They were just roomates" or "they were just good friends" ♥♥♥♥ that STILL gets pushed to this day about very obvious LGBTQ+ people in the past.

I finally hit 2000 hours, So I guess I can review it, uh it's fun?
