Arc Raiders is one of the most entertaining online experiences I've had in a while.

It's like if you took the fun pieces of other extraction shooters (i.e. Tarkov), but with less jank / bloodlust and more incentive to help out your fellow humans.

They've added matchmaking that is based on how much of a PvP psycho you are.
Pacifists are more likely to be matched with other pacifists, and PvP Bloodlusty types are paired with other bloodthirsty peeps.

It's a breath of fresh air- the community definitely makes the game so much better, especially if you're playing with other PC players (I generally have crossplay off)
In 20+ matches, I think I was killed by another player once, and that was after I was already smoked by a robot.

If you happened to play Tarkov during the first week that they added VoIP (2-3 years back?), or played Red Dead Online during the beta week, the community elicits that same feeling of people just being goofballs and having fun.
It kinda reminds me of memories of early online games in the days of yore (90s / 00s).

People offer to help if you're looking for certain items, or pitch in to kick the crap out of the city-block-sized Matriarchs.

I usually struggle to use VoIP in games (yay Anxiety), but this game has actually helped me work towards overcoming it.

All in all, I highly recommend it. Works and plays well both on my Steam Deck and using Mouse&Keyboard on my tower. The game itself is really fun, and the community makes it that much better.
