Nothing to dislike, everything to like) The Perfect Lootershooter.

I played Elite Dangerous, and after the Odyssey scam release I decided to look for something else.
I've heard about this game being utterly crappy after it released, and about it being phoenixed out of this state by Hello Games.
What can I say? It has most of what I expected from Odyssey - really good-looking, diverse planets with atmosphere, plants, animals, minerals, freeformed terrain, caves etc. It has nice events like finding a derelict ship, or being interdicted and attacked by pirates, which sometimes poses a REAL threat, not like in Elite.
The only two things it lacks - is the Openworld PVP, and ship flight models. If only there would be a flight model like in Elite, and Open Galaxy (which can be affected only by players playing in Open too, not like in Elite) - I would definitely gave this game 11 out of 10. Now I give it 8/10, just because there are some things I don't like, like inability to scan things from ship, or to hover at 0 speed on planets, or to teleport to your teleporter on Freighter.
But the game is really cool, if you like space-minecraft-like games, and like to explore, and stories - pick this up, you definitely gonna have a good time.

If you enjoy the series - just buy it. You won't regret it a bit.

Not much to say. Its just ♥♥♥♥. Don't buy until fixed. Probably won't get fixed because devs think we are idiots and treat us like ♥♥♥♥. If this wasn't true they wouldn't release this in such a state. Nuff said.

UI - got better visually, got to complete ♥♥♥♥ functionally. Regressions in usability and overall comfort&effectiveness of using it are drastic.Multiple features are lost, because this new UI was obviously made by an idiot who never even touched the game.
Graphics - looks better at the first glance, but then comes the discomfort from everything being too dark, the space is a blind-eye dark eternal night now. So you literally just can't see (lol) graphical improvements in this complete, utter darkness. Even the gamma doesn't help much.
Ancient bugs - squares for non-latin symbols still not fixed.
New bugs - just google "Frontier Elite Dangerous Odyssey Issue Tracker", log in with your Frontier ID and see for yourself. Everything a hungry tester could ever want.
Performance - still a bit better than in Star Citizen, but in SC its atleast justified by the level of graphics quality they show you, here with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ graphics its just nonsense. Also google "Odyssey graphics analysis" or "Odyssey render is broken(on reddit)" and you will see that they just can't do stuff right. Actually exactly after I read the post about the render on reddit I decided to refund the game, before I read it some part of me still idiotically believed they will eventually fix their ♥♥♥♥ and we get somewhat decent game, but the amount of work they need to do to fix is astounding. They can't do this. Not with the level of skill their devs have. I lost my faith.

To Frontier - remember me? I told you on forums in my post you will get punished in 5-10 days after the release. That normal people who wanted a good game and who you decided to treat like ♥♥♥♥ WILL make you suffer for your decision.
Now you get it. Mostly Negative here, and, probably everywhere else. I didn't check stock prices, but your douchebag shareholders who wanted this release to happen faster so badly are probably now asking you how did this happen and why their net worth is falling now. Thats why. You make crap, you sell crap, you get punished.
I will buy this again only when its completely fixed. Not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minute sooner. Get ♥♥♥♥♥♥, FD, and go to hell with your attitude towards your clients.

Liked - looooots of info about machine learning and very easy explanations whats what.
Disliked - Balancing tasks. You need to fill 35 squared here and 10 squared there, and you don't have any appropriate tools for that. Use the damn random dispersion to figure that out, and try again and again and again. This is not intellectual and this is not challenging its just dumb and frustrating, because logic doesnt work, you can't predict the result, you just bruteforce it. It is THE ONLY bad thing about this game.

What can I say?
I just finished my first playthrough.
ITS AN INCREDIBLY GOOD GAME.
I feel very satisfied.
The story is very interesting, complex and emotional, the plot is full of unexpected twists, gags, and really sad moments.
The guy who wrote the story is really good, and playing the game felt like reading a really nicely composed storybook.
The phrasing and the way it is written (the dialogues and these backstage voices inside the detective's head) is so good, you just completely believe in what is happening right now at this exact moment of time in the game world.
In conclusion - if you like reading a lot, you like a good emotional story with twists and story 180-degree turns, and like old rpg games with skill checks and earning points, and thinking about where to put them skill points over and over again -
THIS ONE IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST-SEE FOR YOU.
9999/10.
Worth every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ penny.
Will totally replay it with a differently built character once some time passes and I will forget most of the story to not get bored on a second playthrough.

Liked - Vast space rts experience.You gather resources, build ships, engage the enemy. Space battles look glorious)
Disliked - The pace of the game sometimes too slow, sometimes too fast.And some ships are not what they are advertised, for example, the drone frigate.Doesnt damage the swarmers at all.Useless.
Overall opinion - definitely recommend to everybody who likes space and rts genre.

I bought this game when it came out.Some time after that it was fun, I gave zero ♥♥♥♥♥ about bugs and lags and was just exploring.Now I download the game every couple of months only to see nothing has changed.

2023 update.
I swapped a bunch of jobs, moved out from my parents, got a really nice job, finished the university, moved in with my gf, and most probably soon gonna go for dad jokes.
And this game is still a piece of ♥♥♥♥ xD.
Today I downloaded it again for a final review, fought 3 zombies, lost a lot of blood, started losing consciousness, aggroed some more to come and finish me off - and what do you know, they always pity you when you fall uncoscious before em, and leave you for good. There is no way to die from a zombie in this zombie legend game lol.
After 20 minutes of trying to find atleast some food in houses and suitable bushes to pick berries and constantly losing consciousness - who even designed that mechanic? - I decided to give my life to the zombies again. And yet again they spared me, knocked me down and disappeared after. What a joke xDDD

Okay there was a negative review made because of pricing and dlc policy.Now I'm ok with that.
But...
In this game you really have nothing to do after that "wow, that's like a real space" shockwave settles down.Grind to get better ship to grind to get better ship.Try to participate in community goal, realize that this community goal needs resources from planets, and u no go to planets in the base game, say ok, grind continues.

Missions are awful, and really don't have a chance against grinding bots in extraction sites by means of profit.Why would I fly to a distant system to kill a guy and get bounty on my head for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 130k Cr, when I can travel 2ls to nearest extraction site and kill an AI Anaconda within 3 minutes of arrival, and get 239k-ish Cr? Why would I deliver some ♥♥♥♥ to a system 100ly away for 50000 creds, when I can deliver 96 tonnes of Imperial slaves a little more far (130-140ly) and get 500000?

Sometimes you take a mission that says "guard this for 20 minutes" and you wait for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hour, just flying in this system doing nothing, killing random wanted people, then nothing happens, nothing at all, no one contacts you.Then you say "♥♥♥♥ it, I'm done", you go to another system and grind wanted AI for another hour, then you get notification that HOORAY you can contact some ♥♥♥ in the mission origin system, then you fly there, and BOOM GO FIND HIM.He doesnt contact you, you can't find him, you waste another hour flying like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ through the system in all imaginable vectors to get the chat message from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ contact person, then MISSION ENDS BECAUSE TIME IS UP, LOL.

No, guys, really, no butt pain at all, but I do not recommend at this price.It's just a good flying sandbox full of AI stupid ships, no real people, and idiot-designed missions.It has really beautiful graphics, scale, and flymodel, and that's all.No interesting plot\storyline or whatever, no massive PVP wars 50 ships vs 50 ships like you would imagine it could be.

For devs - MAKE A COUPLE OF WARZONES, WHERE PEOPLE COULD KILL EACH OTHER, and you will see popularity of this game rise significantly.I grind this game for nearly half a year now, and I still encountered only 5 people, friended 2 of them, didn't see them online for a month already.Now I'm just bored as ♥♥♥♥.

Pls, make this game interesting, will you?

Addendum - I bought Horizons after 1.5 years of not playing since I wrote this review above, and also bought a joystick. Now its fun to play, or maybe it was like that already before, its just me getting older.
Now I just roleplay space hauler or bounty hunter and slowly advance my Python towards perfection.
Game worth its money, but is only suitable for people who know how to make their grind funny, not painful.
