There's no real way to express what this game is, who it's for, or what you'll think of it. The first thing I'd say about it is go in blind. It's a captivating and surprising experience throughout with a level of polish you wouldn't typically see in a game like this.

I've put hundreds of hours into games like Skyrim, Overwatch, Left 4 Dead, Halo, Rainbow 6, Horizon Zero Dawn etc etc. These games were all hugely enjoyable experiences for me, and fantastic value for money. Sayonara Wild Heats took me 75 minutes to complete.

And honestly, from a value point of view you might think well that sucks. But this game gave me more moments to remember and made more of an impact on me than most other games do even 10's of hours in. It really is a fantastic culmination of each contributor's work, and though the overall experience is vague it doesn't matter. It's a game that communicates feelings over thoughts and yeah that might sound stupid but honestly it's a different experience from anything else in the medium.

If every game could give me the experience I've had in 2 hours that Sayonara gave me I'd be happy. Hell if every game could give me it in 20 I'd be happy. But in a world where every game feels like a 3 hour tutorial followed by 20 more hours of learning sprinkled in, it's nice to sit down and play something in an evening that doesn't feel like a chore.

This is a game that really shows off what games can be. They're not just shooters or sports games or 300 hour RPG's. They can be personal, heartfelt experiences that invoke thoughts and feelings in the user unique to themselves. I can't explain what I really felt or thought after playing this game, but I was satisfied with what I got with my entry ticket.

It isn't the type of game you'll usually play. And it isn't "obscure indie trash". It's something much more genuine and soulful than the majority of what's on the market, and for the reason I fully recommend playing it.

Ten years ago there was a meeting in valve hq in washington dc. The president had ordered half life 3 be destroyed due to the economic collapse it would cause. Valve hired a group of private mercenaries to attack the White House but got the address wrong and they ended up in the Bermuda triangle.

But the ship they were on had a copy of left 4 dead on it, and when the ship was recovered valve tried to play it only to discovered it had been made into left 4 dead 2.

The game had added more gore and weapons and zombies than anyone had seen, it had even hired new voice actors to play the characters. No one at valve had ever seen this game.

Valve released it in 2009 to massive critical appraisal. Over 10,000 outlets rated it 10/10 or above with IGN Ecuador saying "greatness is every so often, but this game is once in a generation".

Valve went on to release no other games after this and retired to assist the USA in printing money. It is estimated between 70 and a 100 mercenaries lost their lives in the Bermuda triangle.

It's a really good game

Out of ten I give it six thousand. That's the equivelant of six hundred the witcher 3's in quality. It is literally the highest rated game in existence purely from this one review.

I'll preface this by saying, this game isn't anything spectacular. Hell the base version of the game probably leans toward bad rather than anything else, but I really like it.

Firstly, don't get it unless it's discounted. I've bought this game three times due to some unexplainable love (or mental deficiency), and I honestly feel that when I paid £6.00 for the version with all DLC I was playing the real game for the first time.

There are two stories, one where you play as Umbrella covering up the outbreak in Racoon City by sabotaging the city and destroying evidence. It's a servicable campaign with a lot of "collectables" in classic Resi fashion. The second story is the DLC and is *not* included in the base version, hence why you should wait till its only sale to buy the complete edition. This story is basically the other side of the game, and has you playing as a Spec Ops squad trying to do...well the opposite of the main campaign.

Honestly it's kinda scummy especially with how the Triple Impact Trailer (Awesome Trailer BTW) featured both squads *before* the game came out, meaning essentially the base game is only half the experience. The main campaign is short and can be finished in 5- 6 hours, although I'd argue it has replayability. When you add the second campaign you can bump it to 12+ which is arguably average for a shooter nowadays.

So what is it and why after all that do I like it? Well its a Socom style game set in the Resident Evil universe. Specifically during Resident Evil 2. You play as part of a four man squad (with six playable characters per campaign) and face a combo of zombies, generic soldiers, and special B.O.W.'s. You'll need to rely on your teammates and each character's special abilities to survive each level, meaning the game is obviously best played on Co-op. But even so, the single player is actually pretty good and the AI are actually fairly competent.

The general combat is pretty standard. You point you shoot you use cover etc etc. Movement is a little sluggish and actually feels slightly rooted in the modern resi style, even though it's a lot more accomodating to...well actually yknow moving around. Honestly it feels like a very typical third person shooter at its core, and its not neccessarily a bad thing. It doesn't push the genre in any real way, and borrow most of its mechanics from other co-op games and the main series itself, but the combination is actually pretty solid when all's said and done.

The level design is good in some parts and questionable in others. One thing that I feel makes the game unique is the fact the levels can feel very oppressive, making difficult situations even more intense. This isn't always good though, as the opression is sometimes just a case of shortsighted design, or cheap choke points and traps which just don't feel fun to play in. The general balance though leans towards good, and the environments manage to keep some semblance of variety even if the setting isn't massively interesting.

Story wise the game is decent. Hell maybe even good if you're a resi fan (or bad if you're a resi fan). The game shows a side of resi we haven't really saw before, and allows us to enter the setting with a lot more tools at our disposal than usual. You won't be all that surprised by the general narrative, but the experience is interesting enough to keep most fans playing. If you don't like resident evil, it still holds up, but don't expect anything magnificent.

Overall the game is a fairly standard third person shooter, with enjoyable co-op and a certain charm and atmosphere that can overshadow a fair amount of its flaws. It's not a great game, and a lot of it feels like it could have been fleshed out a lot more. But it's also not terrible.

Is it worth full price? No.

Is the base game worth buying? No.

Is it worth buying on sale with DLC? Yes.

So in conclusion, although its maybe not the kind of recommendation that will make you want to buy it, I can genuinely recommend the complete edition when its reasonably priced. It's not a cult classic, it'll never get a sequel, hell Capcom will never even admit it exists at this point, but it has one thing going for it.

It's fun. With friends it's even more fun.

Dead Rising is one of the best games ever made.

Nowadays when you hear zombie survival you just want someone to take a 50 cal and blow your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brains out. But in 2006 zombie survival meant running around a mall with 2 bottles of orange juice, a bowling ball, and a dangerously undersized chainsaw while killing zombies and saving people.

Well it looks like its 2006 again cause I'm playing this game and still doing nothing with my life.

Dead Rising is a game that was initially pitched as a joke. "Lets make a game that focuses on escort quests, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss battles and a time limit". Capcom thought it was so funny they greenlit it for the bants but then the devs were like "lol lets make it really good" and they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did.

You play as Frank West a photo journaliser who takes pictures and gets scoops. He's also a walking army. Together with Jessie, Brad, Otis, and Isabella, you attempt to find out the secret behind the zombies, and this terrorist guy. During this you can also do lots of optional rescue missions, and fight psycopaths including a clown, a cop, a store manager, and a father-son hunting trip.

And it ♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocks. The gameplay is pretty solid, the atmosphere is fantastic, the story and characters are great, and the game just althogether feels tight and makes you want to play more. Grabbing random ♥♥♥♥ off shelves to fight zombies is great, but the game also has a learning curve and after a few runs you'll be optimising routes, finding the best weapons, and trying to get that dumbass ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ saint achievement while the stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stand in the pond and you spam Y but no they dont come.

It has its flaws such as the survivor AI role being filled by a battery and two gerbils, but honestly this just adds to the experience and tension as you really feel it is your responsibility to step up, ♥♥♥♥ up the zombies, and get these people home safe.

So before you buy any of that Early Access ♥♥♥♥, buy this instead and play a legit good game. You never know, you might become a bit more cultured from it.

8GB of RAM probably won't run this game, contrary to what the recommended spec says. If you have less than 12 you should probably stay away from this game, cause its been 4 months and none of the patches have changed anything.

State of Decay is a pretty solid and fun zombie game from Undead Labs. The game has a very smooth and nice feeling combat system for fighting the zombies, and sets up the apocalyptic world very nicely. Creating a home base with your survivor group, and managing it and the other survivors is easy enough to do, but at the same time very satisfying. Going on scavenging runs, saving survivors or hunting mutated zombies are things that you'll find yourself doing to help the group.

As far a realism goes, the game sits somewhere between Dead Rising and DayZ. The words "Realistic" and "Zombie" don't really go together, but as far as survival goes, your character becomes fatigued and injured over time, and will have to spend time at home to recover. Swapping between characters is essential to keep things running smoothly, and things such as ammo, food, medicine, fuel and materials can be gathered.

The game also allows the player to drive vehicles for faster movement, and has a large map to explore, along with many different home base points. There isn't a very forgiving atmosphere in the game, so if you die out there, the character is gone, just like real life. New survivors can be foud to replace them, but stats such as stamina, fighting and more will have to be built up to make them more effective.

Graphically the game looks good. As an Xbox port, it isn't extremely high end, but at the same time isn't very dated either. It runs nicely, but hasn't got any advanced settings, instead just "Low" "Medium" "High" etc. The lack of choosable features such as Anti Aliasing is noticable, and a lack of options such as texture quality, shadow quality and more are missed. I should also note that this game is far more enjoyable with a controller than a Keyboard and Mouse

Overall though, the game is very fun and has lots of content. If you like zombie games, I'm confident you'd like this one. 8/10
