Singleplayer is fun, but it's a one time thing for me. Some people like the double-or-nothing mode, but I'm not too terribly interested in it.

The multiplayer though.... is hillarious. And for the price, this game is definitely worth it for the mp alone.

I do recomend experiencing all the game has to offer at least once though, but the mp is the highlight, for sure.

This is honestly one of my favorite games of all time; this game limits itself on purpose and uses it's limitations to create not only a thrilling horror game, but also an amazing multi-ended/open-ended story. I cannot recommend this game enough.

I'll start this off by saying, I think that this could easily become one of the best battlefield titles. It has a lot going for it; the specialist system is an interesting idea and it has a very good setting.

That being said, the way everything was carried out was just bad. When I first heard that they announced a specialist system into Battlefield 2042, my first thought was "Oh, so they're going to do something like dividing all of the specialists into various classes, like having certain specialists exclusive to the medic class, others to the assault class, etc." because, y'know... that's what would've made the most sense.
Alas, I was a fool to think so; the class system has been completely scrapped for the specialist system rather then merging the two. While EA DICE has announced that they'll be making changes to the specialist system in future updates, I am honestly shocked that they didn't think to do this before or haven't fixed this issue sooner. In portal, you can already play within the settings of previous Battlefield titles, and they all have the class system implemented into them. So like... why can't they just combine the two? it doesn't make any sense to me.

As for the setting. The initial trailers and the short used to elaborate on Battlefield 2042 set the tone for a brutal climate-change apocalypse with severe weather events being commonplace within the world. Refugees are forced to allign themselves with either America or Russia for the sake of survival. With all this backstory given and setup, you'd expect a title with epic display, but not one that is necessarily goofy in tone, right?
Welp, one of those things is true: it does have a very nice display of scenery and action. However, this game does everything in it's power to keep the aesthetic as light-hearted as possible despite it's setting, which instantly pulls me out of the experience. Most characters have very goofy and cocky voice-lines, the worst offenders being Mackay, Angel, Sundance, and Paik. The only specialist that has a somewhat consistently serious tone would be Falk, though that's not saying much. The tone of the game and setting and the tone of the characters is just way too off; While the setting is supposed to be serious (and even the music reflects this somewhat), the characters and their voice-lines just feel cartoony, and while one could argue that they were going for a more comic book feel, it still just doesn't work for this game.

I'm not even gonna get into the bugs because I'm sure everyone knows about them, and I don't doubt that EA DICE will get those bugs fixed in due time. hell, I expected the game to have a lot of bugs even when I preordered the Ultimate Edition. And let's not sit around and pretend like the campaign was ever a highlight for this series; it hasn't been since at the very latest Battlefield 3. My main two problems are with it's lack of team based gameplay as a result of the scrapping of the class system and shooting itself in the foot when it comes to immersion. If these issues are fixed (at least with fixing the specialist system), then I will take away my negative review, but until then, I cannot recomend this game.

So in case anyone was confused as to what kinda game this is, it's like telephone, but with animation; first, everyone draws the first frame for their animation based on a prompt, and so eveeryone else has to try animating based on that frame, and than the next frame, etc (though if you don't have any friends to play with, there's also a free play mode where you can just animate based on a random prompt by yourself).

While I haven't really been able to play with anyone yet, the freeplay mode was really fun on it's own. Would recomend.

Main complaint: there aren't a lot of people playing this game; it's a shame, because I honestly think this one is really fun. Really, multiplayer casual shooters only focus on futuristic settings or take place during a current or past war. This one feels unique though, since it's a war on crime rather than against another country.

Don't get me wrong; if you're living in central time, there's usually a good chance you'll find a game, assuming you know how to look for servers worldwide rather than just in your country. I just wish there were more people playing.
