A journey through a desperate mind.

Enslaved is an adventure game overlooked by a majority and (rightfully) loved by most who played it. It follows the story of the great classical Chinese novel, although is set in a post apocalyptic future where seemingly armed robots are enslaving people.

Armed with a staff and some sweet climbing skills, you play the enslaved warrior Monkey. Tasked with helping your captor, Trip, get home to her father. Throughout most of the game, you will be jumping, climbing over obstacles and mowing down mecs in either brawling close combat or shooting plasma bolts long rage style. The game is designed in such a way to keep this recipe fresh and not feel repetitive. Smart enemy placements contribute to this as mixing ranged and melee enemies in fights makes you think before you act. Boss fights are a sweet bonus.

Weapons, shields, health and combat techniques are all upgradable and a must to get past the later chapters.

Contrary to what you may believe, the post apocalyptic setting in Enslaved really does its art justice as the environment and visuals are just gorgeous. The greenest of trees, bluest of skies and warmest colors of explosions are visually pleasing. The art is well complemented by the ambient sounds and music.

After about half of the game, you are joined by Pigsy who is, although a disgusting pig, easily the most exotic and colorful of characters. He livens up the game to a high degree and counters the somewhat reserved character of Monkey.
Pigsy is playable in the included DLC and offers a different kind of play style by scrapping the melee combat in favor of a rifle and four kinds of cooldown-based items (distraction device, EMP, ally bomb and damage based bomb). Accompanied with the joyful Truffles, Pigsy goes on his own little adventure. The extra content is a must play and Is just as good if not even stronger in some parts than the main game.

The only weaknesses I found in the game was the overly scripted camera that takes camera controls away from you to show objects of interest in an overly obvious way. Sometimes the camera becomes fixed in a static position for portions of the pacing through the level. This can sometimes become a bit distracting. I was also annoyed with how some animations take to long to complete. While fighting (bosses especially) I found it very difficult to evade after attacking due to the attack animations not completing yet. Similarly when climbing pipes jumps to other objects would not register.

So, linear post apocalyptic action adventure brawler with ravishing visuals and interesting characters. Action, drama and humor packed into an adventure with a deeper meaning. It has completionist potential and took me 12 hours to beat with the must play extra Pigsy campaign. Sit back, plug in that controller and go on a fun adventure.

My brain is now puzzled. Even though you don't need any understanding of chemistry what so ever, if you enjoy puzzle games this game is most certainly for you.

At first glance, we may be reminded of the classic Atomix from the Amiga and C64 era. Apart from building molecules, this is an entirely different game that feels very unique and genuine. The staggering 144 levels will keep you busy for quite some time as it took me about 12 hours to beat. The puzzles themselves are easy enough for the average person to beat while not feeling silly doing so and difficult enough to challenge every mind. The basic premise is controlling one atom to move, bond, break, turn other atoms to complete a molecule - all within a set of boundary. The only letdown is atom variety as you'll only be seeing C, O, H, N and He which can and will get boring once you're close to completing the game.

It is worthy of mentioning that the game runs on Adobe Air and there have been reports coming from Linux users that it does not run on some occasions as Adobe has ceased linux support.
Although the game would greatly benefit from Steam Workshop integration, the developer has stated he does not wish to implement such features in the foreseeable future - a shame as user created levels would keep the game and its community alive for longer.

For the fan of the puzzle genre, Sokobond will quench a thirst for simple 2D puzzlers. The average gamer should give it a try as its addictive nature may surprise you playing it more and more. If you have a personal vendetta against these types of games - stay clear of this one.

Basically, you play a bad ass secret agent spy man.

I honestly did not pay attention to the story because I was having too much fun playing it. I did eventually read some of the dialogue that takes place before each mission and it put a smile on my face as it is humorously written and its nice to see that even in game. Smashing guards through windows, remodeling their faces through means of punching and causing general prankster shenanigans feels rewarding in a strange way.

Most missions will task you with stealing some data from a computer in a secure (or so they thought) building with guards, locked doors, security cameras and such devices. But once you've reached specific points in the building, you can hack it all. Hack the guards gun to fire when you flick a light switch, make a wall socket buzz out electricity killing a guard when another guard walks through a motion sensor one floor above... its all possible.

The fun part is, you can ignore it all and do it your way. All levels can be beat without any guards noticing you were even there - the true spy way. You can go in, kill everyone and make Rambo proud or just have fun hacking everything you can. It is a puzzle game as its core, it can be as tough is you want it to be - killing everyone will generally be easier than going in sneaky peaky like.

Its worthy to mention the soundtrack is fantastic and blends with the game nicely. I wouldn't penny pinch if I was on the fence about getting the special edition. The main story will take about 1-4 hours to complete, depending on how you play and how bad you are at puzzle games. It does come with an easy to use level editor and steam workshop support where other people's levels are shared. This potentially gives countless hours of replay-ability.

Soaking in a story in an interactive way that feels very smart and genuine.

The concept is simple: you come home after a year of traveling to find no one has come to greet you, no one is home, what happened?
The gameplay simpler: move around the house, pick up objects and subtle clues as to what had happened in the past year.

The main story arch about the protagonists sister is told through audio diaries (of which the voice acting is superb). All the characters in the story though, you get to know through several objects riddled all around the place. Connect it all together and you'll genuinely be enjoying yourself. If you're smart enough, you'll figure it out half way through. The compelling atmosphere and soundtrack just strengthens it all. It's 1AM, rainy outside, creepy old house in the woods... goes hand in hand with a story about missing people.

There can be arguments made that this is not a game due to the lack of the "failure state" but in all honesty, that was the last thing running through my mind while playing it. The characters feel genuine enough that you become interested in how it all ends and forget about any other gameplay elements it could have included.

Generally I will recommend this game but only at a reduced price. The original full price does not feel fair to me as it is just the product of its own hype. For 3 hours of content, no. If you are looking for something unique and easy on the mind, wish to discover colorful characters and like to investigate the scene to understand whats going on - look no further, this is the best it's going to get.

Probably the most fun you could get out of a FPS game. Shadow Warrior goes back to the roots of the genre and forgets all about modern dynamics such as cover, fake realism and the dreadful cinematic handholding a lot of recent games introduced. It's shooting at its core and its fun.

I'm not even going to attempt to explain the story because I was too busy slashing my way through demons to make any sense of it. It honestly did not mater to me. They could have pinned any generic story to the game and my experience with it would have been the same.

I absolutely loved the gameplay in the title. You have your katana, which you will probably end up using the most because its just fun to use it - Pro tip: press R to clean the blood off of it. There's also your typical revolver, uzi, shotgun, flamethrower, demon heart, crossbow, rocket launcher and demon head. All weapons are upgradeable and each have their own special abilities. I found explosive arrows on crossbow to be particularly useful, or dual wielding uzi's for maximum shredding power felt satisfying. Of course squeezing a demon heart to kill all lesser demons around you is always fun... or grabbing a large demon head and shooting a laser from its eyes is effective as well.

There is an upgrade system which gives passive and active abilities, both offensive and defensive. The active ones in particular act a larger role when it comes to katana swordplay as using them while slashing enemies feels very fluid.

The technical aspects of the title are satisfactory. Graphically I found the game beautiful. I've encountered minor bugs which did not let me progress to the next chapter so the last autosave had to be reloaded but in the 15 hours of gameplay there is to be had here, that occurred on very few occasions.

It is nice to see some devs wanting to make shooters that generally feel great and are fun to play. There are no boring cinematics here, extremely linear maps, unneeded handholding. There are cheesy 80's references, fortune cookies that, while also reference a lot of other very fine work, are funny and the developers paid homage to the 90's classic FPS Shadow Warrior. There are bunnies one finds in the act of coitus, which upon gunfire engagement turn into dark demons from hell and attack you. The developers know they made a game, not a movie or a piece of art one hangs on walls and critiques for what its message is.

Although short, it is worth it. You play as a mother badger protecting her young from the dangers of the world and feeding them. That's all there is to it really. Its about nature and how cruel she can really be.

The unique art style and music really contribute and make the game something special. There is some replayability here, get to the end with all your babies alive and feel like a champ doing so!

It will take about two hours of your time to do so, you will not be shooting at people or aliens or bananas and you will not be driving super fast cars. Its simple and unique, short and sweet.

Simple controls and an easy to understand game mechanic make for one fantastic puzzle platformer game. The swapper gives you the ability to create a number of clones and swap between them. A simple concept done right. Puzzles consist of small rooms aboard a space craft and include various traps that toughen the actual puzzle solving.

There's a kind of atmosphere in the swapper that feels natural to what you are doing. I never felt bored or annoyed at anything I was presented with. In most cases my drive to explore pushed me forward to solve every puzzle and get to the end. It is a beautiful game in its own right.

Achievements are given as secret areas are uncovered which means you can miss them all and/or give yourself an alternate goal to pursue.

Try it, you wont be sorry.

If one were to sum up Titan Attacks in one word - that word would be "space invaders". Ok, that's two words, but you get my point. If you like these types of games, Titan Attacks will surely quench your thirst.

The basic formula is the same, you're on the ground - you shoot at alien scum coming from the air, sometimes the alien scum are smart enough to eject from the ship and parachute down to the ground - shoot them for extra points. All really simple. The game is strengthened by an upgrade system. Between each level, one can buy; shields (which deteriorate for each hit) and smartbombs, upgrade; gun power, add mode guns, recharge speed and more bullets. It's an alright system that does make you feel like you've grown and become more powerful throughout the levels.

There are extra bonus levels which put some tension to the game as if you pass them successfully, you will be able to upgrade quicker. All in all there are 100 levels with five boss battles in between, difficulty satisfying core fans of the genre and casuals alike.

LOVE is a fun little platformer game with easy and tight controls. You have your movement keys, jump and the ability to set a respawn point - now get to the end.

There are 12 levels in the main game + 10 extra ones that aren't in the main exe for some reason. It can be beaten easily in 30 minutes if you take your time and speedruns usually take 10 minutes. The fun I found in LOVE was the race to get a better score and speedrun it as fast as possible, coupled with some hidden achievements and Its a party. There's a one life only mode for the truly badass people out there - also fun to play with friends and see who can get the furthest.

For such a small game, I wouldn't expect the soundtrack to be so diverse but surprisingly Its quite listenable and I wouldn't mind having it in my library of game soundtracks. Calm, smooth and complimenting the 8bit art style.

Although unnecessary, I'd still love the see the ability to rebind keys and steam workshop support for custom levels would really be the icing on the cake. As it stands, you can get bored of the initial 12 levels pretty quickly.

If you're looking to try a simple obstacle course platformer, not too difficult but certainly not easy, give it a try. If you're looking for something hardcore, reminiscent of "I Wanna Be The Guy", maybe look elsewhere but try LOVE just the same - in YOLO mode, tell me how that works out for you.

Not a fan of metal music? This game will make you one. Brütal Legend is an open world action adventure strategy game with melee combat and RPG elements all rolled into one. You play Eddie Riggs, a roadie transported into a metal world divided by war. When I say metal world, I mean metal world. Everything from creature and character design to the smallest of details is in some way inspired by heavy metal music. The best part about it is that you don't have to be a fan of the genre to appreciate the world and just have a good time mowing down everything you can with the Druid Plow, while listening to over 100 licensed metal tunes, of course.

Combat is centered around two weapons; an axe for melee and guitar for ranged combat. Both can be upgraded with cosmetic and weapon effect changes. Vehicular combat is also present with multiple possibilities ranging from the classic minigun mount to minelaying.

I can't say that the RTS elements work in its favor however, I feel the game would have been better off without. There's not enough depth in the strategic battles where Eddie sprouts wings, controls unit spawning and sending them into battle. Compared to the fast action paced face melting combos you were doing less than a minute ago, the slow RTS battles feel tedious and boring.

The characters all feel unique and genuine in their own way, the story feels right even though it may be just a little bit generic. The main quest line is fun to follow trough but side quests can get repetitive, mostly consisting of ambushes and the occasional defense against 5 waves of attackers. These are just bad attempts at prolonging the experience offered by the game.

Overall this is a terrific game set in an cool world with an awesome soundtrack. It has its small little problems, but the goods far outweigh them. There's about 15 hours of gameplay here to complete everything there is to offer and to top it off a multiplayer mode that matches you against other players in RTS battles.
