"now gather 'round and settle down for a story will unveil..."
if you've ever played Mafia or Werewolf with friends, the concept of this game will be familiar. It's another social deduction game along the same lines and derives much of its inspiration from them.
"Welcome come to our wonderful town, welcome come we are humble and proud!"
as with mafia and werewolf, each player is assigned one of a number of possible roles (and there are A LOT of possible roles that can be used in each game, including some groups to allow a bit of randomization), each of which has different abilities, strengths, and goals.
"Nothing bad ever happens in this town!"
For instance, town members just want to eliminate the "bad guys", which essentially means witches, Mafia, and most neutral killing roles
"but when the town goes to sleep, you can hear the sound of something devious, of something quite mysterious, lurking in the dark!"
Of course, not everyone is going to be on the "good guys" list, and while some neutral roles can still win with the town (for example, the executioner wins as soon as their target is lynched), Mafia, serial killers, werewolves, witches, and so forth cannot. Their goal is typically to kill or get killed anyone that stands in their way. (By the way, definitely recommend the Coven expansion! unfortunately I can't write a review on that DLC because I bought it through the in-game store)
"help, help, the lookout's house is in cinders. I told the guy to stop using Tinder..."
Every morning, after the bad guys have had a chance to do their dirty work and investigative roles have gotten their information, it's time to discuss to figure out who to Lynch! Remember though, social deduction games often involves copious amounts of deception, and humans tend to have, on average, about a 50% chance of recognizing a lie, even when they think they are better than that. Rely on provable facts, not your intuition!
"I saved the town, I saved the town! Wait, is anybody else around?"
and everyone dies! It's fun!

buyer beware: great game, horrible UI!
it's great if you want to play the old classic and have absolutely no concern for the quality of presentation, but if you're like me and can't stand janky UIs, eyestraining pastel colors (mind you, the classic installments had some of this issue too), and a brain-dead mechanism for hooking up ropes and belts that works absolutely nothing like the original's "click item, click source, click destination, done!"... You might be at least mildly disappointed. I was and it looks like I'm not alone in my remarks.
Don't get me wrong, the classic game, mechanically speaking at least, is all there and frankly implemented flawlessly (MECHANICALLY), and with all the benefits of steam integration it has 9001 times the social gaming potential even of TIC:EMC... but it REALLY, DESPERATELY needs a UI overhaul before I can recommend it.
(if the developers want more in depth feedback, HMU in the comments. I'd love to help anyway I can, especially since this is the ONLY hang up I have for the game)

Factorio + Mindustry - "all the annoying enemies interrupting you". Despite my initial impression that there would therefore be no pressure, I'm reminded of the irony of SuperHot's self-description "no plot, no nothing, just killing red guys"... because this, for all its apparent lack of conflict, is nonetheless an extremely complex and challenging game once you start getting into it. and, if you don't believe me, maybe you should go try the free demo at shapez.io for yourself! (don't worry, you can export the save from there if you decide to buy it to get all the features and stuff, like the impending wire update)

5 hours in and it's about what I expected: a dungeon run-style card game with monsters mooks and misery! If you've ever played a rogue like game and wanted to combine the permadeath-style gameplay with a card battler, this is probably the game for you. So far, loving it!

not bad for something I only paid $.99 for. It has its problems, such as certain mechanics requiring clarification (case in point, the fact fixed objects need to be ENTIRELY in front of something supporting them, not just partway), but overall it seems like a solid game

Sounds good in principle, though I have yet to try it out.

if you were given the job of CEO of a private prison company, what kind of CEO would you be? would you rule with an iron fist with extensive punitive measures, or would you try to be compassionate and rehabilitate the unruly mob society has sent your way? Would you try to profit on their misery? Or would you go out of your way to make them comfortable (nice flooring, decent meals, etc.)? This game has everything you need to find out, with plenty of personality traits for each prisoner (prisoner traits, names, etc. are either randomly chosen or, if you choose to take in one of the predefined prisoners from the crowdfunding campaign, some of it may be preset); basics like cells, canteens, showers, power grids; learning programs like rehabs and vocational training (of course, you could also just have them make license plates. Cheap labor is cheap); and more!
and of course, you can also reverse the roles and test out your own prison with escape mode. So you're really getting two games in one, in a sense.

update, post-acquisition (Paradox Interactive semi-recently acquired the game from Introversion Software, to the din of mixed feelings in the player base): well the game hasn't gone to hell in a hand basket yet, so that's good. Sure, they've started to release most of the game's content updates as DLC, but it's not like you have to pay for it as long as you've already purchased the base game (at least, if you're not stupid like me and forget to claim the DLC when it comes out). I'd rather them do it this way than increase the base game's price as they add completely new content. Furthermore, Paradox has been a lot more interactive with the Discord community than I remember Introversion ever being (kind of funny, given the names "Introversion" and "interactive"); that's not to say Introversion was completely quiet (they did an AMA on Reddit not long before passing the baton), but I think they could've done better, like Paradox is doing now.
Tl;dr: still a great game, the acquisition did nothing to tarnish it, my worst fears never came true :-)

my inability to play this is probably one of most frustrating results of my spinal cord injury, and this too shall pass. In the meantime, however, the least I can do is recommend everyone that has a remote interest in FPS games play the hell out of this one!
Way more fun than CoD, and way more innocent and harder to mistake for reality (for anyone that's actually responsible enough to care about that second one)

Anmeldelse fra tidlig tilgang
The factory must grow.

you build a factory on an alien planet, from scratch, and eventually launch a rocket. Start small, and try not to anger the native acid-spitting aliens too much with your pollution! (You can also just to peaceful mode like I did for my first play through, so they don't attack unless directly provoked I.e. directly shoot them or their allies)
Key features of the game include:

engineering challenges with plenty of valid solutions (for instance, will you go with a main bus or just ad hoc all your logistics routes)
diverse and lengthy tech tree, and an equally intricate system for unlocking stuff
PLENTY of options to choose from when starting a game (you can even fine-tune the enemies to your liking, although certain options will disable certain achievements)
several challenging achievements for PRO engineers to chase after (I don't think I'll ever get any of the speed running ones, but "lazy bastard" could be interesting if I ever attempt it and I managed "logistics embargo" well enough)

overall, I rate this game as being very fun and highly replayable. 9.5/10 (note: rating does not factor in players that don't like games in the resource management genre. Steam's store has tags for a reason)

now, if you'll excuse me, the factory needs me.
