Runs better than the original (finally) and has a good modding scene. Main issue is the store price is 3x more than the original's store price. I would get this version (x64) over the original (x32) if a sale brings the price down.

This probably has the most fun FPS campaign I've played in forever! Explore the open levels on Mars and Hell that will put a CoD campaign to shame. Go ahead and treat yourself to this glorious shooter where standing still, hiding, and slow movement will only get you killed!

You may see a sizeable portion of negative reviews from players with hundreds of hours, like myself. You may be wondering:
"How can these people not recommend a game they've invested full weeks or even months of their lives in it?"
The answer is simple: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunk_cost#Fallacy_effect

This is one of my most played games of all time and I really wish I can recommend this game to new players, but unfortunately this game doesn't offer what it used to.

The Negatives
  • The half-baked features that were released years ago and never touched on again.
  • The awful and endless grind in every aspect of gameplay.
  • Terrible balancing for combat, where some weapons or modules are just outclassed by an entirely different type of weapon/module.
  • Terrible balancing of 'professions' or activities, where some activities are straight up pointless if you goal is to get credits. Even if it isn't there is little to no reason to do those activities as they are just boring and tedious.
  • The forced split in the already dwindling playerbase.
  • Abandoning of the console ports.
  • Abandoning of the Mac/Linux ports.
  • Breaking VR support when it worked pre-Odyssey.
  • breaking graphics (e.g. shadows) when they worked pre-Odyssey.
This list goes on.
To top it all off, they have finally released a new ship after years of no new or improved feature/addition to the core gameplay (including new ships), and what did they do? Lock it behind a paywall. They are new selling pre-built ship designs for their 'premium' currency that can be purchased with IRL money. I have seen some diehards argue it's good as it helps "skip the early game grind" when there is no 'early game grind' for these players anymore who has hundreds of millions of credits. And even if does help someone 'skip the early game grind', why tf is there an early game grind that people want to skip? Surely the logical process would to improve the early game and make it more enjoyable to give incentive for newer players to keep playing the game!

The Positives
  • The learning curve for ship flight is a bit daunting at first but it feels very rewarding once you get the hang of it.
  • The ship designs themselves are varied, interesting, and look fantastic.
  • The sound effects are absolutely breathtaking the first time you hear them.
  • The visuals (when they graphics don't glitch out) are fantastic.
  • The PvE combat does feel challenging and varied at first, until you work out what works and realise you can grind it.
  • The PvP combat is always a challenge and can be quite fun, but in most cases your exposure to PvP will be people 'ganking' you in fully kitted out combat ships when you are flying the equivalent of a cargo ship doing some trading runs.
  • A lot of non-combat grinds can be quite relaxing, same sense as a truck or train simulator game.
  • The game is a lot more enjoyable when playing with friends in a 'Wing' (party) but good luck getting others on the game.

Conclusion
Lets hope another developer sees the amazing potential this game had and creates a fully featured successor, but you won't find that here.

One of my all-time favourite games. Has a perfect blend of RTS and RPG elements with a unique design that no other game has been able to replicate. Unfortunately, this game is outdated. Matchmaking and lobby search doesn't work, and the only way to play with someone else is through direct IP connect. On top of that, the game is prone to crash on modern systems, however there are fixes which I'll link below.

I would recommend getting this game a DRM-free platform (GOG) as that version will have less problems.

If you can look past the fixable instability and the dated graphics (which were really good at the time of release), then you are going to have a blast.

The discord server most likely has more up to date patches than the ones below but I'll keep these links just in case.

Links:
Patch information including Patch 3[sacrifice-shiny.fandom.com]
Patch 3.1 (English)[pastebin.com]

Sacrifice widescreen and multimonitor support[community.pcgamingwiki.com]
Community maps[sac.overtracks.com]
General info and instructions to install the patches[pcgamingwiki.com]
Mega folder in case any of these go down[pastebin.com]
I included the Spanish and Polish versions of Patch 3.1 in the last link.

Get this game as a LAN RTS with a twist. The devs are shady at best, so don't believe any annoucement they make. The online community is small, but close-knit, and now has online ranked ladders.
Great with friends and great if you want an RTS that isn't just a Starcraft/AoE clone.

Original review:
Yeah, this game is definitely fun, and quite different to other RTS's. It plays similar SupCom and Total Annihilation, but trades off variety (only one race but a mod changes that) for a more large scale game. I could never take this game seriously, which is a good thing, as I always play this game casually and always have a fun time.

Yes, I would recommend this game, as I have enjoyed playing this thoroughly. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this game is because I don't want to support Uber Entertainment, but just look at any negative review to see why. Grab this game when it's on sale here or on the Humble Store, as the asking price is a bit too much, but please remember I'm recommending the game, not Uber Entertainment.

One of the best tycoon/simulator games ever. Get OpenRCT2[openrct2.org] to play the game in more resolutions with more features, including integrated Twitch streaming! OpenRCT2 requires the base game, so grab this game to enjoy your childhood theme park sim in 1080p!

One of my favourite multiplayer games turned into a F2P cosmetic loot box simulator with super grindy season passes, and now only available on Epic Games Store. Pass.

Fantastic game although the story is shorther than I thought it would be. It took me 10 hours to complete the main story, but there are many side tombs, quests, and collectables to ben completed. The game featues suprisingly decent yet simple RPG elements such as ugrading your weapons and unlocking perks in three skill 'trees'. The map features both open and linear areas where one can return to once they use a campfire to fast travel, allowing you to go back and complete any unfinished side quests or raid any missed tombs you missed on your journey though the main story.. One day I may return to 100% it and try multiplayer, but for now I'll leave this positive review. Good job Crystal Dynamics!

Devs abandoned game, PA:Titans is better, online community is neglegible. Get PA:Titans if you want a fun LAN RTS, not this version.

Orginal review:
Honestly, most negative reviews are outdated.
Just to clarify why I haven't played in a while, I'm on a backup PC with only 4GB of RAM. Seriously, when they say 4BG is the minimum, they mean it.

Thoroughly enjoy playing this unique RTS. I've owned this game since Early Access, so I was playing it during the 'Initial Release' period, where the game devs lost a lot of trust from the community. Dispite this, the game recieved monthly updates and patches. New content has been added, gameplay has been improved, and there has been many balance changes.
I have to agree, the planets are quite bland, however... MODS! The PA mod community is still active, and mods can improve gameplay and performance. All UI mods are allowed online, anyone can host a game with server mods.
Give this game a try when it's on sale. You'll (hopefully) love it if you loved Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander.
Overall: 7.5/10
