Game is great, obviously, just gonna talk about optimization briefly for mid-range PCs. This isn't an amazing PC port, but it gets the job done. It definitely favors higher end systems, though. I have an Nvidia GTX 750 Ti 2GB, Intel i5 4460, and 12 GB RAM and I can run this game at medium settings at 1600 x 900 usually getting 60 FPS. If you played Dishonored 2, then you know that the environment and buildings is where frames would usually drop. This is still the case, but unless you really like looking at buildings fro whatever reason, then you're probably good. By the way, adaptive resolution is your hero.

This game is amazing, and I don't really think I need to explain why. I picked it up during summer sale, having heard about it before. If you enjoy video games and video games only, this isn't for you. If you appreciate good writing, character design, and interactivity, then you'll love this.

But you've heard about this game, it's been out for over a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ year. I wanted to talk about the ending of this game briefly.

*SPOILER WARNING FOR BASICALLY THE ENTIRE GAME*

If you've read any review of this game, then you've heard about the anticlimactic ending. No matter what you do, you don't get to meet Delilah, and you don't really get to see what happens after the events of the game. It's an ending that doesn't really conclude such a great story in very grand way. Many have sought out to find that huge climax hidden in the game's dialogue, however. The most common theory that people have made is that Delilah is a huge liar and conspirized with Ned just to ♥♥♥♥ with you. I don't really think that this is true, but I'm not going to touch on that. I think this game's ending is actually one of the best ending's I've personally seen. It concludes the experience in a way that fits the game's nature, not in the typical "Grand finale" or "happily/sadly ever after" that we're all used to. I've heard it described as a very "human" ending, and at this point, I can agree with that.

Something that this game does best is put you into the shoes of the main character, Henry. It does this while also perfectly making sure that you have enough control of the character that is necessary in a video game. In the beginning of the game, both you and Henry are extremely depressed about Julia's condition. As you go through the game, however, she starts to slowly fade away from Henry's thoughts and feelings, as well as the player's. That is until Delilah abruptly brings her back up at the end, reminding you that Henry has to go see her.

Henry gets so caught up with the mystery, with Delilah, with the missing teens, and making sure that the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ forest doesn't burn down that he eventually forgets about Julia entirely. When he finds out that the "Secret organization" listening in on them is nothing but a hoax, he's underwhelmed. The fog clears and he finally realizes (with the help of Delilah) that he still has his own problems back at home to deal with. The mystery he was chasing was nothing more than a distraction from his life. He says near the end that they must have missed something, that there must be something else to explain all the weird occurrences, But there really isn't, and if there is, then it doesn't matter. He has to go back to his wife, no matter how much he wants to, and no matter how much more there is to the mystery.

Basically what I'm getting at is, the ending is supposed to be disappointing. Henry's life will just return back to what it was. The job and the events of this game were just a method to get away from it, but only for a finite amount of time. Now that I'm writing about it, it feels like the story was cut short by the length of the job. Anyways, the same things apply to Delilah. She has to go back to her ♥♥♥♥♥♥ life without Javier (Yes, I'm pretty sure that she is, in fact, broken up with him) and just deal with life instead of running away from it. The reason why she has an easier time going back to life than Henry is because tragedy and sadness finally caught up to her in the woods, as she finds out Brian Goodwin is dead. Delilah leaves the forest depressed, and Henry leaves underwhelmed. And because of the reasons that I explained before, the player also leaves underwhelmed. This is the reason why the game has gotten so much criticism for the ending.

However, though, I do feel like a tiny bit more effort could have been put into the ending. Here's my best, but simple, idea. WHAT IF...if you go through the game without taking too many pictures, then during the credits, you'll see pictures taken by Henry back home in Boulder with his wife? I think that might make the ending just a bit more satisfying, as you'll get to see what happened to Henry after the job. But it will also maintain that underwhelming and inconcluded ending. Alternatively, what if you could somehow leave the camera for Delilah to find, and then in the credits, you'll get pictures of what happened to her after the job? This is just a small idea, but honestly now that I think about it, maybe it might make the ending a little bit TOO satisfying.

One thing that I believe FOR SURE should have better is the "secret alternate ending". For those who don't know, if you walk away from the helicopter at the end and go back towards the forest, the game will end. No alternate dialogue, pictures, or anything, just end. You could say that this is an easter egg, but someone at Campo Santo openly tweeted saying something along the lines of "I'm surprised nobody has found the secret ending". Like, 2 lines of dialogue could have made this better. The screen could just cut to black and you could hear Henry say "Delilah, I'm not going back" and Delilah say "What?" and that would have been WORLDS better. Once again though, just my thoughts.

One last thing I wanted to mention is that Henry and Delilah most likely DO end up meeting, just after the game. In the end she says that she's right next to Henry's truck. Since the helicopter drops him off at the same spot, then it would be difficult for them NOT to run into each other. Additionally, if you ask Delilah to come to Boulder with you, then she'll decline, but promises to come down and visit sometime. If you do this, then one of the last options of dialogue you can give to her changes from "Goodbye" to "See you soon", indicating that you guys eventually meet up.

All in all, I think this game is one of the greatest I have ever played, and it gives me a conclusion that makes me think not only about Henry's life, but also my own.

TL;DR: This game's ending is purposefully supposed to be brutally realistic and underwhelming, and although it could have been done a little better, I believe it fits the game very well.
