Genuinely some of the most fun I've ever had in a racing game. No, its not realistic, but hell is it fun.

This is easily the best first person fantasy RPG since Skyrim.
I genuinely cannot fathom what the mixed reviews are about, this is a phenomenal game.
Say what you want about Obsidian not having the same people that made FNV anymore, but theyve got some damn good talent regardless of that. This is a game that actually lives up to that legacy in my opinion.

Idk what people are on about saying the exploration and loot isnt good, this game gives out more unique armor and weapons than Skyrim does. The progression in terms of abilities is a bit slow feeling at times, you dont really have enough skill points to make any super good builds until the late game, but the bright side is its just a relatively small gold fee to respec all your abilities. If combat ever started feeling stale to me, I respecced and changed my build to something else, and theres a lot of different play styles to try out. And the combat is really interesting, they took a whole lot of cues from action type RPGs, so there is enemies telegraphing attacks, dodging, parrying, etc. The difficulty isnt as hard as the game makes it out to be, but at the hardest difficulty it is a genuine challenge. And you wont be dealing with annoyingly tanky enemeis or anything, the hardest difficulty is really well balanced and really fun, if you want to be forced to actually use all your abilities and strategize, I highly reccomend it. As far as story goes, it was phenomenal. I'd never played a Pillars game before this, and the game does a great job of introducing you to the world through conversations with people, and if you wanna go a bit deeper, the books you find. Your choices very much matter, I think its easily on par with New Vegas in terms of how much of an effect your choices have on the world.
I really dont know why more people havent been talking about this game, its seriously amazing. If you are an RPG fan of any sort, you owe it to yourself to try it out. Especially if its on sale like right now.

Best game I've played since Omori.
And I don't say that lightly.

This game is just... I cant even explain it, its one of the best storytelling experiences I've ever had. Its the pinnacle of video games as art. It is esoteric and hard to understand at times, but what I love is that if you stick it out, it all makes sense in the end. Nothing said is ever meaningless, the writers absolutely knew what they were doing and they managed to pack so much meaning into this game.

I absolutely adore this game. Its all the kinds of buff stacking shenanigans you know and love from roguelikes such as Slay the Spire, Risk of Rain, etc... but with guns. And ooooooh boy the guns. Whoever designed the guns for this game knew full well how cursed his creations were and relishes in it. Pretty much every single gun in this game is a masterpiece of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I love them so gosh dang much.

Amazing game, Pretty much everything I could have hoped for. Had some performance issues at launch, and still does, but theyre working on it. Also has some balance issues but theyve also been doing a good job working on those.

I'm 44 hours in and there is still no end in sight of high quality hand-crafted level design.

Makes you feel like the coolest man alive flipping all the switches and stuff to operate your mech. The separate torso and leg movement is really disorienting, but I think im maybe starting to get used to it (I'm not really). Very very buggy still, but to be fair the game wasn't originally even meant to release into early access yet.

Slitherine just purchased Battlefront Games and the Combat Mission franchise. A rare case in the modern world where a publisher purchasing a developer is unequivocally a good thing. Slitherine has already done amazing things in the last few years as a publisher, such as finally persuading the geriatrics at Battlefront to put their game on Steam and allow their 10+ year old games (that look and play like 20+ year old games) to go on sale. This is a recommended, but really please only buy the game on sale, it ain't worth it otherwise. Anyways, with the purchase by Slitherine I am extremely hopeful for the future of the franchise, and I really hope that Slitherine is able to bring out the amazing potential that I and many others see in this franchise. If they were to modernize the engine with a usable user interface, less atrocious graphics, and (a bit of a pipe dream, but a man can hope) maybe even some sort of co-op mode for the campaigns, then the games would actually become well worth a $60 price tag, as well as attracting a bunch more players. Dwarf Fortress pretty recently showed how successful a super niche game can become if just made actually accessible to the more average player. My hopes really are high for this series going forwards, don't let me down Slitherine.
