I've been feeling an urge to play Risk since I grew up with the boardgame. I've seen youtube content of this version of the game, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, single player games requiring premium currency really turns me off from trying this. While the coins do apparently refresh over time, it feels really aggressive for pushing the player towards the premium options. While there is a saving grace that premium is a one-time purchase as opposed to subscription, I'm wary of the precedent it sets for more predatory monetization even with that purchase. This is a licensed Hasbro product, after all, and they are not known for being very consumer-friendly in the least. Additionally, based on recent reviews it seems the premium mode dlc doesn't even work properly, so I am loathe to even bite the bullet on that

I remember the original controversy around this game back in 2009. I'm pretty happy to finally get to play it; this is one of those games that very well may never have been. Game is currently a bit rough, but for an EA title it's surprisingly solid. I'm very excited for how it develops and I feel it will very much achieve its goal of depicting the Second Battle of Fallujah realistically

Between both D1 and D2, I find that every couple of months or years I come back to this title and get hooked all over again. I find that as a mark of worth.

I just realized I haven't played this game since 2013 and now I have the "Don't play this game for five years" achievement.

10/10 would sit on this gem for another 7 years.

Now to replay this game for the entirety of a Tuesday.
