the gameplay loop is solid, but the balance is all over the place.

once you finish a run, you unlock the possibility of doing hard mode bosses and minibosses, which will mostly kick your ass.

to offset that, you can arguably get stupid strong from the meta progression, but once again, that is poorly balanced, due to being an apple arcade title ported off it. unfortunately, i can only assume that they want to keep people hooked because there's a *lot* of meta progression, that require you to run the game several several times before you can make a dent into it to comfortably tackle the hard mode stuff and extra difficulty modifiers to progress.

you *can* still progress hard mode without investing too much into the progression but it is kind of a chore because enemies get massively boosted HP. as i said, all around whack balancing to keep people hooked to the apple subscription.

it's a bit wonky, and is somewhat carried by the voice acting and the general presentation of the game. i would recommend it on sale.
