i dunno about all the extra NES stuff that's missing and all but between the updated visuals, soundtrack, and a lot of massive gamechangers like the MAP!!! this is the best way to play FF1

after thinking about it after beating the game, i thought for a moment : do i care about this game? no. nothing about the game made me want to care for it.

enemies are fairly boring, bosses weren't particularly enticing to fight, and puzzles are all some sort of variation of : hit timed switch.

the game looks very pretty and handles more than fine, but i have no incentive to care about much, if any, of it. it's "fine", which is its best asset, but also means the game was mostly unremarkable. at the very least, it does not drag on.

the usage of the sun meter is somewhat good though, forcing you to consider whether you want your meter for healing, or damage. the genre usually dictates "spend meter for spell", but imp of the sun goes the extra distance and puts you in an empowered state. unfortunately, offset by the fact that killing enemies refills the gauge, so it doesnt feel very risk-reward.

(steam achievements also seem broken as of writing this review)

this game is a lot of fun! it has some jank because they adjusted it from its online gacha model, but it still plays well and is an enjoyable thing to play through. bonus : you can keep grinding events to max everything as you wish, and there's challenge modes that you can play through after you're done with the main "core" of the game

we got robbed that this wasn't ported to gamecube. this rules. price is a bit steep, so wait for a sale but this rules.

katamari damacy is good!! good game. i would recommend "we love katamari" over this one though, that game is just sooo much better but. katamari! damacy! good

this is by far the best katamari game. level diversity is on the menu, the soundtrack bangs, and unless they port katamari forever to pc, this is just as good as it gets

this game delivers so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard

it does a lot with very little - level themes are reused at a glance because of the game's assets, and it looks the same in terms of visuals more frequently than not, however the levels themselves range from pretty good to excellent (except cliffside adventure i hate that level so much) - so i would still recommend it

this game was marketed as a shoot em up, and i think that's a massive let down for a lot of people on that front. honestly, it plays much closer to a topdown action game in its gameplay, and i think this game is victim to genre labels not really meaning anything anymore

is this the shmup you want? no, probably not, but from the view of something that you can just go ham in, it is very enjoyable. definitely better approached as an action game.

2 massive let downs though : the OST, and the complete tonal dissonance between the opening cutscene and the actual game's story

kanako deserves every bad thing that could happen to her
