Early Access Review
The unique items are almost entirely trash and not worth getting or using. The "crafting" system in this game is "take an item that's pretty good and randomize it, but each randomization will make it worse."

I had a ring that gave me +54% cold resist (sapphire ring with an additional 29% cold resist mod) and 32% fire resist. I liked those. It also gave accuracy and evasion and strength and mana. I didn't care so much about those. Perfect item for the stupid as hell randomization mechanic with chaos orbs, right? 4/6 mods are basically useless to me.

First chaos orb removed the cold resist mod and replaced it with magic find.
Second chaos orb removed fire resist mod and replaced it with 17% cold resist.
Third chaos orb removed the cold resist mod and replaced it with 40% fire resist.
Fourth chaos orb removed the fire resist mod and replaced it with 14% fire resist.

The minute-to-minute gameplay is a lot of fun. But the "crafting" system literally is not crafting at all. Every single thing is just "take an item that exists and put some random crap on it or randomize what's already there" that isn't crafting. That's gambling. And the gambling system is trash. There are too many garbage mods and not enough currency drops so you can get trash rolls the 10,000 times it would take to get an item worth having. All you do is screw up the items you have.

I really, really want(ed) to like this game - I put in almost 300 hours. I like GGG and their approach to monetization. But the approach to gear ruins everything entertaining about this genre for me. Unique items should be usable (beyond the what, two usable items I guess, the rest are basically worse than any other item you could find already at level 20) and there should be a way to actually craft gear, not just piss yourself off as you wreck every item that was sorta good when the randomization immediately destroys every good mod it had.

Having a good time playing at 150h

There's not a lot of variety at this moment, but if you want to run around and hack some mobs up, chop some trees down, mine some stuff etc, it's a decent time. More fun with friends, but even playing solo has been enjoyable for me.

Feels like 90s Toejam and Earl. Really fun. My one complaint is that the keyboard controls don't match at all what they say they are. The picture shows WASD to move and arrow keys to do different actions, but the arrow keys move me and X does some crap and C opens presents...it's not intuitive at all and I don't see a way to switch it.

Plugging in a controller and using that works fine though. Overall, really brings back memories with some nice improvements. Would buy again. And probably will buy for some friends so we can do co-ops.

Other positive reviews say all the things I like about it. It's a great logistics/supply game.

Exactly what I wanted from a Shadow sequel. It keeps all the things I really liked from Shadow of Mordor, smooths out some of the movement mechanics to make them feel even better, and adds another layer of depth to the game with sieges, bodyguards, drakes, increased difficulty, gear drops, and a little more flexibility in the skill tree.

RE Loot boxes: I've got about 20 hours of play time so far and haven't had any reason at all to buy a loot box. And if I did have reasons, I have enough in-game currency to buy about 40 of them so far without making any effort to collect or save the in-game currency.

Got this quite awhile ago for early access prices and had a few weekends playing with friends on private server. It was okay for what it was, but there were some really cheap tricks to use against the extremely stupid dinosaurs. Pretty early on, it wasn't challenging anymore, it was just a long-term chore to do anything and keep the base up to date. At least 2/3 of the time I have played wasn't spent enjoying anything. It was sitting next to a dinosaur and clicking the same button over and over.

I'm not angry about the sale price I paid during Early Access, but I would never recommend this to anyone for $60. If it's ever on sale for $20, think about it.

Loaded game for first time to play with friends, took a few steps and then popup for EAC integrity violation, Quit Game. Uh...try again? EAC integrity violation. Look up on forums, apparently happening to a lot of people recently. Not worth trying to figure out why or what I need to do to fix. 16 minutes played, 15 minutess of sitting waiting for more players, 1 minute worth of walking three steps forward. If I hadn't bought the game on sale forever ago I would refund immediately, but too late. Everyone else save your money.

Got this as a gift from a friend a few months ago. Was terrible then, is worse now. I feel really bad that my friend wasted money on it.

Lots of game modes, lots of server settings options. It doesn't feel very enjoyable solo, but even with just a couple friends it turns into a lot of fun.
