You can tell this is the first time these clowns made a single player mode. I wouldn't be surprised if they've never even played a single player game in their lives. Luckily, this is a multiplayer only game.

Necessary game to play for any jrpg fan!... because of its place as part of your trails journey. As a stand alone game, however, basically no story, awful characters, visuals have aged horribly, game just feels bad to play from running around to random pauses in between every little thing that last a millennia(this one issue isn't really a problem with turbo tbf, but the game clearly wasn't made with turbo in mind)...

Combat is great though.

If you were going to play this game you already know and you don't need to ask. If there's any question, don't.

Early Access Review
It's not a good sign when none of the positive reviews actually thinks its a good game.

Ignoring how very very early access this game is, at $25 dollars you get a slog of an early game with bare bones customization beyond that. I played an hour and I literally had one skill the entire time. The only customization you get outside of fusing and items is increasing damage or increasing tankyness. Fusing isn't anything we haven't seen before, but it seems solid enough. Gameplay feels clunky and slow. You constantly get stuck on nothing. So many times an enemy would be attacking me in melee range it I wouldn't be able to move at all because of bad pathing

Maybe in a year it'll be worth early access after some major overhalls to its systems.

Finally a game that lets you enjoy the digivolution system in peace without a horrible rest of the game to distract you

Early Access Review
Probably one of the worst arpg's on the site, but it's fun to follow because of how early the dev decided to show it off. Also let me skip the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 5 minutes text scroll in the beginning ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

A lot of people like to compare this game to the gba fire emblem games, but I think a better comparison would be to Fire Emblem Three Houses. The design philosophy for both was to throw a bunch of customization at the screen without regards to balance. While in Three Houses that made for your own units interacting with the enemy in different ways, in Dark Deity most of the changes change how the enemy react to you, which unfortunately makes it so that there's no room for strict strategy or planning. You just end up throwing hard counters at each other, which is fun at first but it doesn't make for the best strategy rpg experience.
