Plenty of work to be done on this, but the game is already in a decent place compared to how the first one was in the same time frame. Right now its mostly just a sandbox physics tool, fun to be had regardless.

Apparently the modding tools are already heaps better according to what I've heard.

Good. Plenty of fun to be had making different parts work.
Challenging enough at higher difficulties.

Serious bugs introduced in the game's most recent update ruined the game's performance and destabilized mod compatibility, the developers have virtually abandoned support since then, leaving the game in an atrocious state. Terrible FPS in many areas, crashing, etc. All due to an apparent "Modernisation" of the game on their part.

It's so bad that most major mods require you to "Downgrade" the game's version using a script in order to use them. Unofficial patches cannot solve it either, since the issues are integral to the game's engine.

To list some of the problems:

- I've read a major problem is one related to the FaceGen data, if you're unfamiliar with what that means- Any custom NPC be it from DLC or otherwise will lower your frame rate while in their presence.
- VATS now gives you X-ray vision, letting you target enemies through walls.
- Glitchy and flickering textures
- Aforementioned performance, and problems with resolution settings.
- Missing models and textures for some items.
- Autosave sometimes malfunctions when fast travelling in power armour.

These are all present in an unmodded game, and were just the bugs that were INTRODUCED in this patch, not to mention the copious problems that were long pre-existing.

Don't buy the game, don't reward this behaviour. There's less scrupulous ways to acquire it that are likely the non updated version anyway, for convenience. At least you'll be able to fix your game that way.

Well, I've been using it for a bit, and with a bit of tweaking I'm convinced, this is fantastic.

It's probably not suitable for flick shooters, but if you're playing Skyrim or other Bethesda games, PVE or platformed games, this'll work marvellously.

Really good. Excellent role-play and character building features, interesting weapon and equipment load-outs you can make too, all set within the backdrop of a cowboy-esque post apocalyptic California.

Engaging story involving various factions that are vying for control you progress, each with their own motivations and intricacies. You can choose to side with, or destroy all of them.

Finally, a good sign that a game gives the player a lot of agency, is the ability to get through most conflicts without firing a shot or killing anyone, provided you build your character right- you can do that here.

The real star of the show is the modding community, because there are such incredible additions that people have contributed to the game for free. You can get an almost entirely new game out of what people have put on the internet.

Dungeon crawler with kinda quirky mechanics. Your attacks and abilities are dictated by the objects in your inventory and how they are situated, almost a mix of Tetris and Darkest Dungeon. Difficulty feels fair too, ignore the cries of those unable to adapt.

Tips:
- Keep a potion on you that rids status effects, it will also rid the curse debuff and prevent you getting a curse at the end of combat.
- Re-rolling your loot at the end of combat using a dice gets rid of the curses, provided you haven't kept the curse in your inventory.
- Just don't keep curses in your inventory unless you value their traits, its that simple. It's not that bad.

It's a good game, fun to tinker with ship designs.
Dev also updates it regularly.
