VF5 R.E.V.O. is a bit of a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, the core gameplay is still that classic, deep, technical Virtua Fighter goodness—frame data, spacing, and precision still matter more here than in almost any other fighter. The rollback netcode is also a huge win, making online matches smooth and responsive, which is crucial for a game this demanding. But honestly, the single-player content took a serious hit. No story mode, no Quest Mode like in VF5, and customization options in the base game are really limited unless you’re willing to pay for DLC. It kind of feels stripped down. Visually, it’s a mixed story too. While R.E.V.O. is technically the best-looking version, 4K 60 FPS, and well-optimized on PC—some of the original VF5’s charm got lost. Stage lighting, effects like rain or water, and even the music don’t hit the same, even with legacy options. Still, with 19 characters and a rock-solid foundation, R.E.V.O. feels like a step toward keeping VF alive. It's a Great game for the competitive player but there's not a whole lot to do for the casual player.

DOA5LR is honestly one of the best in the series—easily up there with DOA2. The combat system strikes that perfect balance between being super accessible and surprisingly deep. You can jump in and mash buttons, sure, but there’s a lot to master if you want to go full tryhard. Matches feel fast, fluid, and chaotic in the best way. The roster is huge, with a ton of returning characters and even a few guest fighters thrown in. Visually, it still holds up decently well, and the training mode is actually one of the better ones out there. Now, on PC... it’s a bit of a mess. It launched without online play, the Soft Engine isn’t really implemented, and it kinda feels like a PS3 port in some areas. Still no Steam Cloud, either, which sucks if you play on multiple machines. Controller support is spotty, and there are bugs and crashes that never fully went away. Also, there's alot of fan service here, and for some folks, that’s either a plus or a cringe-fest. The story mode? Not great. But hey, the real focus here is the fighting. There’s a lot of DLC—some of it ridiculously overpriced—but let’s just say if you’re on PC, there are ways to unlock everything without spending a dime 😉. And with the modding community doing its thing, there’s plenty to mess around with. If you're into fighting games, this one’s worth checking out—flawed but still a banger.

In my opinion, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is the best Lego game out there. It's way more than just a bundle of the first two Lego star wars games slapped together— it feels like one big, well-polished game that covers all six original Star Wars movies. Traveller’s Tales didn’t just throw the games together; they actually improved the prequel levels with new mechanics from the second game, added new Force powers, and fixed a bunch of stuff. The character roster is massive (over 120), and the added content like Bounty Hunter missions, vehicle bonus levels, and the 2-player Battle Arena just gives it even more to do. The humor still hits, the level design is great, and there's a ton of replayability. Whether you're into Star Wars or just want a fun co-op game, The Complete Saga nails it. A true Lego classic.

So I went into Persona 4 Arena Ultimax mostly because I’m a big fan of the Persona series—hadn’t played any Arc System Works games before this, so I didn’t know what to expect. Turns out, this game is way better than I thought! The fighting mechanics are super solid. It’s easy to get into thanks to auto-combos, but there’s a lot of depth if you want to go deeper. Even as someone new to ArcSys games, I found it fun to learn and satisfying to pull off combos. The addition of rollback netcode (added in a post-launch update) made online play feel smooth and responsive, which is huge for a fighting game. The story mode is another highlight—yeah, it’s more of a visual novel than anything, but if you're into Persona 3 and 4, it’s cool to see the story continue and how the characters interact post-game. The roster is great too, with a nice mix from both games and some cool originals. It also looks fantastic with that anime art style, and the soundtrack really nails the Persona vibe while keeping things hype during fights. Plus, the game runs well on most PCs and lets you pick English or Japanese voices. Now, it's not all perfect. The story mode can feel like a lot of reading if you're mostly here to fight, and some folks have reported the occasional performance dip. Also, the online community isn’t huge, so finding matches can be hit or miss. Still, I had a great time with it—and if ArcSys ever makes a Persona 5 Arena in the future, I’m 100% there. This game made me a believer.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a bit of a mixed bag. On the plus side, it definitely looks sharper with 4K support and smoother performance at 60 FPS (on capable systems). The remade textures and new HUD give it a cleaner feel compared to the Wii original. Sonic also controls better—more responsive and snappy—which makes the fast-paced boost gameplay super fun, especially if you’re into titles like Sonic Generations or Unleashed. At its core, this is still one of the better modern Sonic games—great level design, cool Wisp powers, and a strong sense of speed. That said, the remaster had a rough launch. Visual inconsistencies like weird lighting and washed-out colors, buggy cutscenes, and even game-breaking glitches were big problems. The sound mix wasn’t great either—sound effects were overpowering, and there weren’t any audio sliders. The 2D sections also felt off at times with clunky transitions from 3D. But here’s the kicker: if you’re playing on PC, the Project Re-Rainbow mod pretty much saves the day. It fixes a ton of those bugs and visual issues, improves lighting and colors, tweaks the UI, and just overall brings the game closer to what it should have been at launch. With the mod, the Ultimate version finally lives up to its name. If you’re a fan of Sonic and have access to the mod, I’d say it’s absolutely worth checking out. Just know that the vanilla experience still has some rough edges.

UMvC3 is pure chaos in the best way possible. The gameplay is lightning fast, flashy, and just straight-up fun to watch and play. The tag-team system, crazy aerial combos, and assists give the game a ton of depth and creativity. Even with just a three-button attack system, there's so much room to explore team synergy, mixups, and tech. The roster’s awesome too, tons of iconic Marvel and Capcom characters here, each with their own unique playstyle, so there's always someone new to try. The game still has a loyal community, and modes like Heroes & Heralds add some cool variety. Visually, it still holds up thanks to its slick comic-book style. That said, it's not perfect. The meta is kind of cracked, with certain top tiers dominating, and the "touch-of-death" combos can be brutal. It’s rough for new players-between the high damage, steep learning curve, and dated netcode, online can be frustrating. Plus, there’s not much single-player content beyond arcade and H&H. Still, if you're down for fast, explosive fights and love experimenting with team builds, UMvC3 is a classic worth diving into.

The second that intro hits, it feels like you're back in the '90s — but cleaner, sharper, and way more stylish. The game feels like a legit continuation of the originals not just some lazy cash grab. The art style is clean and hand-drawn, with lighting effects that actually bounce off characters and the environment in a way that gives the whole thing this cool, dynamic energy. And man, that soundtrack. Yuzo Koshiro and the original crew came back to drop some heat, and the new beats absolutely go off. It's that classic Streets of Rage sound but with new twists that slap just as hard. Plus, if you're feeling extra nostalgic, you can switch to the original music and even play as the pixel versions of the old characters. It’s such a nice touch. There's a solid roster here too, new and old characters, all with their own style. It never gets stale. And props to Dotemu, man. These folks have been on a run lately, reviving classic franchises and doing it right. Streets of Rage 4 is another W from them. Just pure retro goodness with modern finesse.

This Tomb Raider reboot from 2013 does a solid job of giving us a younger, more realistic Lara Croft. The story's all about how she goes from being unsure of herself to becoming a total badass, and it’s actually pretty gripping. The pacing’s good too, there’s always something going on, but it never feels like too much at once. You get some downtime here and there to explore and take in the island. Combat’s fun and feels smooth. Using the bow is super satisfying, and sneaking around to take out enemies quietly is a blast. The guns work fine too, and upgrading your gear makes fights feel better the further you go. Controls are tight across the board, whether you're climbing, jumping, or shooting. Platforming still has that Tomb Raider feel, climbing cliffs, jumping over gaps, grabbing ledges at the last second. It looks cinematic but still feels like you’re in control. The tombs are kind of side content now, but they’re really cool when you find them, with puzzles that give off old-school vibes. Camilla Luddington does a great job as Lara. Her voice acting brings a lot of emotion and makes Lara feel like a real person, not just an action hero. Even though it’s a reboot, it still feels like Tomb Raider. There’s adventure, danger, old ruins, and that thrill of exploring the unknown.

Killer Instinct is a visually stunning reboot of the classic fighting game. The announcer, with his booming voice and iconic catchphrases, delivers an electrifying commentary that adds a unique flavor to the matches. The graphics are top-notch, showcasing fluid animations and vibrant, cel-shaded visuals that give the game a distinctive aesthetic. The character roster features a diverse cast of returning favorites like Jago and Glacius, alongside exciting new additions. Each character boasts a unique fighting style and a visually impressive moveset. While the roster may feel a bit limited initially, the core gameplay is so engaging that it's easy to overlook. Overall Killer Instinct is a must-play for fighting game fans. Its stylish presentation, engaging gameplay, and charismatic announcer make it a standout in the genre.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order brings a refreshing mix of nostalgia and innovation to the franchise, drawing many parallels to the beloved Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast. Both games center around the journey of a young Jedi struggling to find their place in the galaxy, with Fallen Order's protagonist, Cal Kestis, embodying the same resilience and growth that made Kyle Katarn a fan favorite. Fallen Order does a fantastic job of expanding the Star Wars lore, filling in gaps between the prequels and the original trilogy. It explores the aftermath of Order 66, diving deep into the emotional and psychological turmoil faced by the Jedi survivors. This lore-rich backdrop provides an engaging context for Cal's quest, alongside the cast of supporting characters like the wise and enigmatic Cere Junda and the quirky droid BD-1, who add depth and charm to the story. The gameplay features a satisfying progression system, allowing players to unlock an array of Force abilities and lightsaber skills, similar to how Jedi Outcast allowed for character customization and skill development. The ability to combine these powers in combat creates a fluid and dynamic experience, encouraging players to experiment with different strategies against various enemies. Overall, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is not just a tribute to the classic Jedi Knight series but a standalone adventure that enhances the Star Wars universe while delivering an exhilarating and emotionally charged experience. It's definitely a must-play for fans of the franchise and anyone looking for a compelling action-adventure game.
