Very enjoyable, quite cute! I do like deckbuilding games :) There are many satisfying mechanics that play off each other, and I appreciate the way the story weaves into the gameplay.

A part of me wishes I could build a deck with fewer than 20 cards, but alas.

*The* thing missing here is any sort of controller support. I love Slay the Spire, in no small part because of how easy it is to bring with me on my Steam Deck or to play on my TV. This game would scratch a similar itch, with a different aesthetic and more of a story progression, if only it had controller support! I can't imagine it's that involved, unless the implementation were really poorly structured 😅

I really enjoyed the first game. I pushed through all the achievements to get full completion.

I do sometimes wish Steam let me give a more nuanced score than "recommend" or "not recommend." Based on what I've seen so far (five hours in), I recommend this game. It introduces many new mechanics, and builds on the previous story.

That said, this *is* a walking simulator. I just spent half an hour trying to find the puzzle area I had left a few minutes before. The original game was mostly on rails - this was fine, what it lacked in "open world" mechanics it more than made up for in puzzles and riddles. This second installment seems to borrow from the open world motif for unclear reasons; sure, the scenery is pretty, but... why isn't there a real map? If I find something once, I want to be able to trivially find it again. If the surroundings were structured, it might be easier despite the size, but I keep getting lost in these damn woods.

Play the game. Maybe don't get caught up on full completion, if you value your sanity.

Well, it's kinda fun, but now the initial campaign maps are behind a paywall. And the paywall... doesn't work? Upgrade button does actually nothing. Neat.

I thought Sony had defeated democracy when they killed HD2 multiplayer with their mandatory PSN account requirement. They, and I, underestimated the collective might of the Super Earth Armed Forces. Sony might think twice next time they consider invoking the wrath of a committed playerbase.

For Super Earth!

Blizzard ate Overwatch and crapped this out. No PvE as promised, so what was it all for?

Fantastic couch co-op if you've got someone you enjoy playing with. Pretty fun solo, lots of challenge and rewarding gameplay. Highly recommend. Just wish the end-game were less "move all your equipment one tile in a particular direction, bit by bit."

Plenty of allusions to Portal. Surprisingly, I found this to have too many puzzles. Puzzle solving became too rote, and I wasn't getting any satisfaction from solving them after a third of the way through. The solutions weren't particularly elegant, and there wasn't enough story to keep me engaged. Took me quite a while to get through this game since it didn't have a lot of draw.

I'm fairly surprised by this experience, since I enjoyed The Talos Principle and its DLC, and that was a _lot_ of content. I suspect it was a combination of a) more rewards for exploring, b) more story in general, and c) way more free time because I was in College.

It's an enjoyable game, just drags on for way too long. I'd rather do something else with my life.

Is this worth the $60 price tag? Yes, easily. Is it worth the cost of a whole VR heatset and a rig to drive it? No, probably not, though it goes a long way toward justifying that expense. If you have the opportunity, play this game. You'll only regret the parts where the black headcrabs are crawling up walls.
