Honestly felt a lot longer than 9 hours. The story seemed to continue at every instance where I'd thought it'd be over. Great prequel to a great game.

Satisfying shooting mechanics, creative and interesting enemy design, a lot of boss battles, sandbox style combat, unique team mechanic based on trust, coupled with fun stereotypical protagonists who spout cheesy one liners, with all the over the top anime-esque scenes you could ask for. The story's pretty cool and interesting, too. For a game that has its fair share of 80's action moments and quips, there are some more serious themes of racism, life, death, and ultimately what it means to be human.

It's one of my favorite games, definitely. It does however have some drawbacks. Most notably how awful it was ported to PC. The mouse aiming is finicky until you tweak the settings to your liking--there's a built in acceleration mechanic or something that can never quite fully be removed--but once you get used to it the game is certainly playable, even enjoyable. The button prompts are completely broken, though, so don't rely on what the screen is telling you. Just make sure you set up the controls to your liking in the configuration tool, and you'll be good to go! The game has graphics just as good as the first, maybe second Dead Space. Actually, now that I think about it, you could find a lot of similarities between Dead Space and Binary Domain. The biggest difference is that BD was so criminally underrated. A cult classic if you will.

Solid 9/10 in my book.

If you have the cash, definitely give it a try.

You know what's funny, I had gotten the game for free on the Epic launcher thanks to their Christmas giveaway, but I just had to buy it (and the soundtrack) here on Steam.

Celeste is the best 2D platformer I've played in years. It also has an astounding soundtrack, which is kinda reminiscent of the soundtrack to Super Mario Galaxy, the best 3D platformer I've ever played.

Celeste is a game that ramps up in difficulty quickly, keeping the player entertained with new challenges and obstacles, while also consistently bringing in new mechanics for the player to traverse with. The movement is extremely fluid and can practically be abused if you know how to build up speed and keep your momentum. There are so many routes you can take, depending on how far you can push said mechanics. There' some serious speed running potential here. Of course, if you're playing the game like a normal human being, you'll still feel like a bad-ass when you chain together some dashes and jumps. It's a challenging yet very rewarding game, and if that's not your style, you should probably get the game anyway. There's some optional options that can ease up the experience. (Even though the game and myself strongly recommend against playing on easy mode.) And of course, the story is there, too. It's nice. It's a bit emotional. It's moving. The visuals are beautiful, a stellar showcase of what pixel art can achieve. The amount of content is pretty sizable for what it's worth, especially if you're a completionist. Whatever, my point is; Celeste is an experience everyone should run through, it's just that good.
