(Singleplayer) Too easy. Waaaay too easy

There's a lot of stuff to like in this installment, but it's all ruined for me by how stupidly easy it is.
The two times I died were me bored of being slowly tickled by bullets and just rushing out on a suicide mission.

You unlock higher difficulties after completing the game, but you should not have to sit through a game for hours, and get the whole story spoiled for you, before you're allowed to play it.

Multiplayer has better balancing though.

Crashes a ♥♥♥♥ ton, otherwise great game. I've heard the unremastered version doesn't have this problem.

As you would expect from a game made by an AAA company, that also happens to be Valve, that also happens to be Half Life:
THIS IS AMAZING

The movement however, needs improving. Specifically the walking/continuous mode, as teleport seems to work great.

• Running should be possible in combat situations, as it is almost impossible to clear many combat scenarios without slipping in a few teleports here and there.
However, running should only be available in combat situations, as fast movement would break the flow of the peaceful/exploration bits of the game.

• Falling has been slowed down, presumably to reduce sickness, however, I find it has the opposite effect on me.
An option to switch to faster falling would be ideal.

• Ladders cannot be easily climbed downwards, as there is an invisible wall that blocks you from walking over to it in the game, however this can be negated by walking over to it physically, if your play-space is big enough. The top of the ladder cannot always be grabbed, meaning you often have to reach all the way down to the floor to grab it.
Seems like the easiest fix, just adjust the hitbox, and make sure the ladder can be grabbed.

• Forced teleportation is found in every level, parts that are completely inaccesible unless you teleport, much like going down ladders, except there isn't even a clumsy way to avoid teleporting. This can already be seen within the first minutes of the game, where the player has to jump over a small wall, except actually, you can only teleport there, and pretend you jumped.

• Jumping does not exist in any capacity, other than teleport.

This may or may not sound bad, but it is completely overshadowed by how gorgeous this game is, and how well everything is designed, and how fun it all is.
A lot of combat is cover-based, so you won't always be needing movement too much, as you can just stay in one spot.

The multi-tool puzzles scattered throughout the game as shown in the trailers, are annoying to most people I hear from, but I love them. I make an effort to solve every single one of them, no matter how pointless it is.

(I got the game via the index deal, don't know if that needs disclosing, but I'm gonna check the box anyway)

You know that feeling you get when you wake up, having slept on your arm, and you can barely move it?
That's the entirety of this game. It has it's moments though.

Here's a few nitpicks though:

- Arms getting stuck in both the walls and the door when opening doors
- Arms getting stuck when climbing
- Arms getting stuck on and in literally everything
- A R M S
- oh and hands too
- even your chin

- Everything works like a balloon sword. I understand having this effect on heavy items, but why is every item in the game like this. (Even hands feel heavy)

- The lack of save points Save points have been added :)

+Here are some positives:

+ The first encounter with a headcrab thingy was absolutely terrifyingly hilarious.

+ Music is great.

+ Oh right, that teleportation caveman thing at the museum in the start was pretty funny.
So funny in fact, that I've decided to mark it as a spoiler, so you can experience the haha yourself.

+ Jumping IRL and in-game at the same time is one of the best things I've done in VR.

This game is wonky as all hell, in both good and bad ways.

The portal mechanic, which is the selling point of the game, feels very underutilized (and limited), as you can just shoot people normally and do phenomenally.
Never the less, when you actually do manage to get use of the portals, it's pretty fun.

Also it's free, so yeah.

Well, I have very few things to say that don't completely spoil the game.

-I think it's as far away from having a linear story as possible.
-There's technicly no cutscenes.
-No bugs so far as of writing this (8.1 hours)
-It's good
-It's good (Just in case you didn't read the previous line)
-Aaaaaand it's good. (Just making sure)

This is without a doubt my favourite VR game, it was what convinced me to buy a Vive.

The only thing negative I can find is that it is kind of short. This is compensated for a bit with the different modes, which encourage you to replay the game in different ways.
