My 3rd playtrough in this game which I still love. Not as awesome as Fallout 2, but better than Fallout 3 and 4. The story is more interesting and the "Cowboy" setting is too.
Make sure to use the Project Nevada Mod for even more immersion and options in the game. Especially if you already finished it once. The mod adds some nice tuning options.

Even tough the game has it's flaws and occasional weird bugs, it's a must-have for any mil-sim enthusiast. The amount of mods, maps and scenarios you can get for this game is astonishing. From WW2 over Vietnam to futuristic modern-warfare there is probably no setting you can't play in. And if you are interested in even more realistic gameplay, there is the ACE3 modification. It gets way better when playing as a team in multiplayer.

UPDATED REVIEW (Oct. 26th 2015):

Well, I had enjoyed this game for quite some time. But because the game constantly is getting worse and worse in the past months I have to change my review. If you are new around here or didn'T follow the events, you might want to check this thread before you buy this game: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/218620/discussions/8/598199244886890714/). That is what you can expect.

Ther latest blunder by the Overkill devs (OVK) is the implementation of microtransactions in the game directly after a weapon "rebalance" patch, that made underpowered weapons like pistols totally overpowered and most other weapons (Shotguns, Assault Rifles) useless in comparison. Who thought it would be balanced to have pistols deal TWICE the damage and be nearly TWICE as accurate as an assault rifle with better stability and nearly the same ammo count? Are you guys high? Anyways, with this weapon "rebalance" came the weapon skins. It would be "ok" if those skins for microtransactions would be cosmetical only, but they are NOT. The buyable skins improve the weapon stats. If you thought the DLC-money-milking was bad by OVK, well then this will blow your mind.

Meanwhile everyone can get "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because not only safes, but also the drills to open those can be dropped after a heist. But the drop chance is very low and it'S a gamble if you will mget a good skin or even one that you have a weapon for! It's possible a skin for a DLC weapon will drop and you don't even own that DLC...

I'm certainly not going to throw any more money on a game that drifts more and more towards Pay2Win. I have bought most DLCs and always supported the game because I liked it. But this goes too far! In an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on reddit Almir of OVK stated that they will neither remove the P2W weapon stats nor the microtransactions because they are making tons of money out of it already (Link to AMA: https://www.reddit.com/r/paydaytheheist/comments/3q53ms/crimefest_is_over_ama_discussion_with_almir_on/).

I can't recommend this game in it's current form unless you are willing to spent 50+ € or $ for the DLC-fest and additional money to get the stat-buff-skins via microtransactions and constantly get lied to by the developers. If you enjoy getting treated like a moving wallet, go buy this game tough. Instead of milking the customers, OVK decided it's more lucrative to directly harpoon the whales with the big wallets that are likely to spent a fortune to gamble for good skins. Don't be a part of that or other companies might take that as a working example and future games will do that too!

If this is the "Free Crimefest 2015 rewards" for the loyal support of your fanbase OVK, then go fudge yourself! No more money from me. Hello Fallout 4!
