If you enjoy Weird West aesthetics and atmosphere, and at the same time crave that "Skyrim Stealth Archer" experience, you'll find Blood West to be immensely satisfying. All-out fights are brutal and you'll find the reliance on stealth and resource management to be your key weapons.

In terms of aesthetics, the game utilises its limited graphical fidelity in a precise and efficient way; the monsters are unique with interesting designs, the weapons satisfying to use, and the world surrounding you appropriately distressed and depressing.

Fantastic, fast-paced, visually distinct, and A LOT of fun! Just fly through the air, climb walls, and pull off full Matrix!

DOOM Eternal has been by far one of the best single-player FPS experiences I had a chance to engage with.
Frantic murder-fest with surprising amount of depth and strategy to it. The game required me to, pardon the phrasing, "git gud" to a degree where I had to shed some of the bad habits that other FPSes allowed me to get away with (like still selecting the weapons from weapon wheel), and yet it never felt unfair - every death was due to my oversight and complacency.

The multi-player part, I can't comment on, as for me it's been completely broken since release - I could not connect to any matches, matchmaking kept hanging indefinitely, and the like.
I should specify here, I use Linux as my main operating system, and I don't dual-boot, thus I can't say how much of that is due to my OS of choice, and how much of that is multi-player being broken. If you're looking at titles to play with others, there are likely better titles out there, but I personally didn't lament it that much; my interest was strictly in single-player portion.

A word of caution:

With Update 1, id Software has snuck an invasive kernel-level anti-cheat into the game, but has done so in such manner that none of the Linux users were able to access the game at all - not just the multiplayer component, but anything.
Update 1.1 has removed the anti-cheat following feedback, but keep in mind it might happen again, and if you've non-standard machine, or play on Linux, or if you just don't want invasive software with unlimited permissions snooping on your system, you might not be able to play the game any more.

As for now, if you're looking for good single-player shooter experience that will push you and your skills to improve, I can recommend DOOM Eternal wholeheartedly. If you're more of a casual shooter player, or are going for multiplayer scene, you might want to look to other titles.

While Gish was originally an interesting and innovative platformer, the latest updates have ruined the game thoroughly.
Reworking of the physics engine to essentially speed the game up x2 has made most of the later levels unbearably difficult and utterly frustrating to play. Several great features have been removed altogether, such as the level editor, and ability to load custom maps/campaigns (some of the custom ones have been of terrific quality, but we have no access to them anymore),

I would wholeheartedly advise against playing the game in its default state. If you do want to experience Gish back when it was good, make sure to play "version170", which can be selected from _Betas_ tab, otherwise you're setting yourself up for lots of frustration.

I wholeheartedly recommend Hedon to anyone that fondly remembers the joys of 90's FPSes, but also to anyone who asks "what was so fun about them?", as it's an excellent point of entry that manages to mix the best of old-school and modern game design principles.

Hedon came in on the wave of resurgence of so-called "boomer shooters", and it shows; developed on Doom engine, it takes the limitations of the olden days and mixes them with select modern-day sensibilities of video game design to create terrific experience that meshes excellent visual storytelling with fantastic levels and chunky, impactful combat.

The magitek nature of the game world, combined with very distinct visual design make for amazing visuals. The lore presented throughout the game provides very comprehensive and cohesive understanding of that fantasy society, and combined with level design that excels at creating spaces that are both believable and fun to navigate, creates sense of immersion I rarely experience with video games these days.

And combat... It's frantic, frequently tactical - most levels provide multiple points of entry and approach for clearing out the enemies - and satisfying, you can almost feel the heft of each weapon as it turns the cultists and demons to gory chunks.
And if you really want to get into the fray of things, the recent addition of entirely separate difficulty level/game mode with exclusive melee weapons will keep you satisfied.

A worthy continuation of the fantastic reboot of XCOM series, this new take provides hours upon hours of challenge.
Well-maintained, with plenty of great content, and excellent modding support, albeit balanced towards more fast-pased action than the previous XCOM, with addition of timers to most of the missions. Nevertheless, game worthy of support.

The game is a wonderfully chaotic exercise in miscommunication and accidentally setting things on fire, with really simple, yet well developed premise, and almost no barrier of entry when it comes to complexity. Definitely an enjoyable thing to bring to parties, with a couple of gamepads and a keg. :)

While this Alien Breed-like top-down shooter does not appear to excel in any particular direction, as a whole, it's quite a competent action game. Cheaper than a pint of average lager and with technical requirement only one step above steam, it will provide a smooth gameplay on pretty much any machine. Gunplay is satisfying, soundtrack has some kick-ass bits and the challenge is there even for experienced players. If you're not in the mood for high-fidelity triple A murder mayhems, try an evening with Shadowgrounds.

Telltale delivers a captivating story with interesting characters, well-developed plot and enchanting aesthetics. Even though it's a new franchise, I can see it having more potential than Walking Dead - whereas the other Telltale adventure game is just as high-quality, The Wolf Among Us has much better premise to it - well-known fairy tales as actors in noir murder-mystery sounds orders of magnitude better than yet another zombie survival.

Truly an amazing title. Beautiful visuals, extremely challenging puzzles and a smashing story told through the pictures.
