Note: This is my personal opinion on my own experience playing this game. Now, on to the yap session nobody asked for:

Wuthering Waves is quite a strong-standing game. I really enjoy the combat in this game, it has this DMC-esque (totally not a love letter to said game) typa flow (cough, there's literally a battle trial in the overworld with style ranks, cough) with a ton of mix-n-match, with each character having unique flair. The parry and dodge mechanics feel really satisfying (Gotta love the heavy *Tink!* the parry/weakness break does to enemies). I love the character design both gameplay and aesthetic-wise, and it's quite obvious that a lot of their love was shared with this aspect of the game.

I also would like to thank Kuro on how they delivered Rover. His kit is pretty good, and as of the current state of the game, F2P Teams work just great without the need to feel super pressured to get other characters (unless you gotta catch 'em all).

[Spoilers Ahead!]

I can say that combat is certainly is one of WuWa's strong suites. You have Zani taunting enemies with the holy Ikea steel chair and the rewarding parry-oriented kit. You got Roccia + Pandora's Box hurricane. You got Cap'n Brant absolutely glunking on enemies with a massive anchor (the thing's got impact frames too. lol.). His ship is literally a massive turtle. You got Phoebe freezing enemies in time and/or bonking said enemies out of existence with the impact-frame enhanced staff. You got Jihnsi dunking on the fractsidus with a "pet dragon". You got beyblade Camellya who can 'fly' with her vines. And then you got Cantarella being... uh, Cantarella.. As some examples.

Second, I absolutely adore the world design. Huanglong as the starting point cemented my appreciation, and then we were tossed into the Black Shores. AND THEN came Rinascita. All I can say is, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Thanks to the game running UE4, the graphics is insanely detailed in this game (at the cost of my own device begging for its life). Certain environments REACT to the character, the water is absolutely stunning, the skies are jaw-droppingly detailed, and there's so much more that I can't really find the words for. Heck, I've still yet to explore more of WuWa.

Third, Design. Again. Look, can we just take a moment to appreciate how Kuro Games designed the NPCs in this game? THE NPC VARIETY IS JUST WOW. There's an NPC that you can't talk to but is wearing a stunningly beautiful dress. There's the Averardo Bank Counter Echo (its just hands, but even looking at it is making my skin crawl.) The miners in Huanglong, The storekeepers in the respective cities, The cityfolk, The Fractsidus, don't even get me started with the overworld enemy design... The Tacet Discords? The Nameless? LORELEI? THE DRAGON'S DIRGE? Hell, I can't even name them all. Huge props to the musical team for also working on the music in this game and delivering pleasant bangers. The Dragon's Dirge theme still rings in my ears, despite the 20 seconds I spent deleting the poor thing. Oh well, thank goodness the internet exists.

...And then, we get to the story. It's a little rough especially in the Huanglong questline, but it does pick up the pace later on (The whole Black Shores and Rinascita questline), however, this is one of the aspects where the game certainly needs more polishing in. There still hasn't been any proper attention for characters such as Calcharo and Danjin, who intrigue me a lot, and definitely should seem like major characters like the others, and I hope they aim to address these holes soon. Other than that, I was still able to enjoy the story just fine. One thing I also want to commend Kuro for is the expressiveness of characters during quests. There's still that iconic stiffness during pauses, but when the characters move or do something its fluid and has personality.

Would I recommend this game? Hell yeah. Did I say enough in this review? Hell nah. Overall, this game is really fun and worth trying. I've taken to enjoying this game a day at a time, and there's still so much I have to do. I can definitely see myself sticking to this game for quite a while. Support the development of this game, keep being constructively critical and be sure to let the devs know, and we're going to be in for a nice ride. This game is Absolute Carnevale.

One of the last good games Ubisoft has ever released. Decent story, the mechanics are decent, but lacks some interactivity AC3 had. Great game nonetheless.
