fun game but it has some major difficulty issues towards the end of the game. specifically, there's the problem of the game throwing miniboss enemies at you constantly, starting a bit after you get the second piece of the nobitsura kage. in a single level later in the game you probably have to kill around 40 enemies i would classify as minibosses, the shamans (which are for all intents and purposes archviles from doom 2), the big baron of hell looking things, and the charger enemies. there's a specific point late in the game where you fight zilla, but before that there's an arena fight where you have to kill two charger minibosses, and then you have to fight an army consisting of at least two or three shamans, two additional chargers, three of the barons, five or so teleporting enemies, and a variety of other enemies, and it is legitimately the lowest point in the game because of how artificially difficulty it is and how bullet spongey the minibosses are
the guns are also so ineffective that you're practically forced into using the nobitsura kage, but the abilities with it are fun at least

i paid for this full price a few weeks after it came out and only completed it today in co op
the story is total treash and the guns feel weird to use
both endings are unsatisfying (WoaWHASDHW you either kill your partners or they all die and you're kidnapped by joseph also nukes lol)
it's an open world "PLAY IT YOUR OWN WAY" game (aka: make your own fun cause we're too lazy to make it for you lol)
ignore this

I got this for free on the humble bundle.
I went in with pretty low expectations considering I knew about this game's reputation for mediocrity.
I left with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful taste in my mouth, and three and a half hours of my life wasted.
I streamed this piece of ♥♥♥♥ too, watch it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/240041192
Don't pirate it, don't buy it, and you sure as ♥♥♥♥ shouldn't waste your time on it.

I gave this game a lot of flak when it first came out because Ubisoft had a bit of a ♥♥♥♥ streak going on (the abysmal launch of the original watch dogs and the constant failure of quality for the assassins creed games, and the fact that siege was floundering all come to mind) so i took a dump on it and then ignored it for two years. Now that the DLC content is out and the developer team has actually had time to make the game playable from how it was at launch (both in terms of proper gameplay and in bug fixes), its actually quite enjoyable. I highly recommend picking this up instead of something like Destiny 2 if you're looking for a loot and shoot that isn't Fallout 4 or Borderlands 2 (they're basically the same game right?)
The soundtrack is also very oddly reminiscient of Blade Runner which I find very appealing.

This review used to be a generic "ea bad" review bashing EA Battlefront 2, but now that that game is in a much better position, it's time to be a bit more fair.
What this game has that EA Battlefront 2 does not:
-Class awards
-Straight Conquest from Battlefield (Battlefront 2 technically has this, but it's more like Carrier Assault from Battlefield 4)
-Hunt
-Galactic Conquest
-Certain maps, namely: Coruscant, Bespin: Cloud City (Administrator's Palace is in BF2017 but its HVV only), Bespin: Platforms, Felucia, Mustafar, Mygeeto, Polis Massa, and both Rhen Var maps (the Xbox version had these and there's a mod to re-add them)
-Vehicles that are more like Battlefield vehicles than just point awards where you can steal vehicles
-Certain heroes, namely: Aayla Secure, Ki-Adi Mundi, Kit Fisto, Mace Windu, Ventress (she was in the 2003 cartoon before the 2008 show), and Jango Fett
-Space gamemode that enables boarding of capital ships instead of just linear objectives
-Droidekas
-Risk-free modding and dedicated servers

What BF2017 has that this game doesn't:
-Sequel Trilogy content (this is either a positive or a negative)
-Weapon loadouts
-Capital Supremacy which is like Carrier Assault from BF4
-Generally more accurate classes and characters (ARCs are a reinforcement instead of anti-vehicle, for example)
-Pretty graphics because of Frostbite
-Ewok Hunt, which is more like a zombies gamemode than how Hunt worked in this game

Make your pick.

Definitely an inferior game to Civilization 5. There are plenty of changes (like cities getting widened) that I personally don't like, and some that are more subjective (such as the artstyle, it's too damn cartoony for my tastes)
The DLCs definitely are overpriced with what you're getting, and this game is like three, four years old now? When Civ 5 was that old, the DLCs were cheap as ♥♥♥♥ and the game regularly went on sale.
The content delivery time (and by that I mean the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLC schedule) is basically nonexistent. It's in-line with how Civ 5 was back in the day (not that I would remember, lmfao), but that was... Jesus, seven years ago (for Gods and Kings). Times have changed, and in the age of live-service games that are constantly clamoring for your attention, Civ 6 hasn't put out enough worthwhile content to make me keep playing it.
Mod support is kinda iffy here from what I remember. It's not as expansive as it was for Civ 5 for reasons that can easily be chalked up to age, but I'm not too sure about the actual *content* side of things for mods.
I dunno, it doesn't just grab me like Civ 5 does.
If you really wanna see what this game is like, grab it during a sale in a few years when the DLCs are all out. Assuming Rising Tides isn't the last expansion.

Genuinely a better game than Civ 6.
Buy it on sale and don't bother with that game.

singleplayer is really good
except the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ enemy ai
>HURR DURR IM GONNA DUMP THREE GRENADES ON THIS ONE POSITION AND SHOOT THE GUY BEHIND COVER
>HURR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DURR IM GONNA WASTE 40MM GRENADES ON THIS ONE BUILDING CONSTANTLY
>HURR DURR LET ME SHOOT THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ANTI TANK ROCKET AT THIS ONE GUY INSTEAD OF SAVING IT
seriously ♥♥♥♥ the enemy ai in this game, so happy they removed their ability to have explosives in bf3 and bf4's campaigns
