  • Initial loading time was way too long, even with a beefy computer and on an SSD.
  • UI is unnecessarily annoying to navigate, requiring you to hold to confirm each step. Settings are poorly thought out with buttons where there should be sliders.
  • Ultrawide support is bad. Literally stretches a 16:9 image into 21:9, including menus.

And amazingly, on top of all that, 90% of the textures didn't even load. This game was a joke when it was announced, and it's a joke now.

I went into TC2 with incredibly low expectations, and still came out disappointed. Here's my reasons why.

1. Locked at 30 - 60 FPS and no FOV slider. This is ridiculous for any modern game, standards have changed.
2. Constant freezes. This one is the real killer for me, as I almost enjoyed TC2. Even just cruising in free-roam, I'd just hit a part of land that chose not to load, freezing your car in place. Pair that with an already lackluster world, it's just not worth the effort.
3. Continuation of the freezes. There's basically a 50/50 chance of the game freezing with the words "Synchronizing Content" on screen whenever I try to travel somewhere. This happened constantly throughout my playthrough and required a restart to fix.

For any fanboys who want to blame my computer, I'm running a 1600X, 1080Ti, and 16GB RAM. The game was installed on an SSD, and my experience was still garabage.

Early Access Review
11/10 cant handle intense shelter building skills.

In all seriousness, The Forest is a game that currently holds a lot of promise, and I believe it'll only grow bigger and better as time goes on. Is the game perfect right now? No, not even close. The game is littered with bugs, insanely overpowered enemies, and is overall confusing. But even with all this, I still managed to enjoy myself, and I'll be looking forward to what they may be adding in the future.
