Feels like playing a White Dwarf battle report from the nineties - the content available in F2P is more than enough to justify giving it a go.

I thoroughly enjoy this game. The game can be very cruel, and many of your first runs will be eneded by a choice that you will avoid in later runs. You get an idea of how you like to run, and suddenly the game throws a new ship at you and says "have you tried these yet?"

You haven't, so you do.

Like XCOM, I grow to love each of my evermore-by-the-second bespoke named crew. I risk them, heal them and eventually have them killed by asphyxiation (or being accidentally left on a ship warping away) and then I grieve, and think what could have been.

Without going into detail, I hope I have impressed upon you how varied, nuanced and enjoyably risk-oriented this game is. Enjoy.
